The concept of morphological moments of binary images is introduced. Morphological moments can be used as a shape descriptor combining an integral width description of an object with a description of its spatial distribution. The relationship between the proposed descriptor and the disc cover of the figure is discussed and an exact analytical method for descriptor calculation is proposed within the continuous morphology framework. The approach is based on the approximation of the shape by a polygonal figure and the extraction of its medial representation in the form of the continuous skeleton and the radial function. The proposed method for calculation of morphological moments achieves high accuracy and it is computationally efficient. Experimentations have been conducted. Obtained results indicate that the morphological moments are a more informative and rich shape descriptor than the area of the disc cover. Application of morphological moments to the font recognition task improves the recognition quality.

High-tech decision support systems based on the knowledge of experts in the field of animal feeding and a rigorous mathematical apparatus make it possible to increase the productivity of the animals and provide a high-quality product with the ability to trace the trophological chain from the field to the counter. (Research purpose) To identify methodological approaches for the development of algorithmic support and software for assessment and optimizing the animals diet. (Materials and Methods) The authors complied a structural-parametric model of a productive animal feeding in a cell matrix form. They represented the whole variety of existing known and unknown relationships between the factors of the farm animal state and the feeding ration characteristics. It was found that when forming a feeding ration, it was necessary to assess the degree of influence on productivity of not individual indicators, but its combination. (Results and discussion) The authors considered parametric descriptions of farm animals; diet with selected groups of indicators, characteristics and properties. It was stated that the parametric description of feeding contained a set of parameters taking into account at least 25 nutritional indicators. They presented a mathematical apparatus for evaluating and optimizing the feeding ration. It was determined that the automation of the process of calculating the daily ration of an animal allowed to change the diets depending on the availability of feed in the farm and their chemical composition in real time. The authors found out that an increase in the productivity of animals and poultry by 30-50 percent was possible due to balanced full-fledged feeding. (Conclusions) The authors showed a systematic approach to the development of software for evaluating and optimizing the animal feeding diet. It was revealed that a computer system in the online mode would help to find the best option for a feeding ration, taking into account multifactor and limitations.

Abstract This article presents the results of measurements of the braking efficiency of vehicles adapted to be operated by drivers with motor dysfunctions. In such cars, the braking system is extended with an adaptive device that allows braking with the upper limb. This device applies pressure to the original brake in the car. The braking force and thus its efficiency depend on the mechanical ratio in the adapting device. In addition, braking performance depends on the sensitivity of the car’s original braking system and the maximum force that a disabled person can exert on the handbrake lever. Such a person may have limited power in the upper limbs. The force exerted by the driver can also be influenced by the position of the driver’s seat in relation to the handbrake lever. This article describes the research aimed at understanding the influence of the above-mentioned factors on the car braking performance. As a part of the analysis of the test results, a mathematical function was proposed that allows a parametric description of the braking efficiency index on the basis of data on the braking system, adaptation device, driver’s motor limitations, and the position of the driver’s seat. The information presented in this article can be used for the preliminary selection of adaptive devices to the needs of a given driver with a disability and to the vehicle construction.

AbstractIn this article, a fractional order breast cancer competition model (F-BCCM) under the Caputo fractional derivative is analyzed. A new set of basis functions, namely the generalized shifted Legendre polynomials, is proposed to deal with the solutions of F-BCCM. The F-BCCM describes the dynamics involving a variety of cancer factors, such as the stem, tumor and healthy cells, as well as the effects of excess estrogen and the body’s natural immune response on the cell populations. After combining the operational matrices with the Lagrange multipliers technique we obtain an optimization method for solving the F-BCCM whose convergence is investigated. Several examples show that a few number of basis functions lead to the satisfactory results. In fact, numerical experiments not only confirm the accuracy but also the practicability and computational efficiency of the devised technique.

Abstract. This work measured $ \mathrm{d}\sigma/\mathrm{d}\Omega$dσ/dΩ for neutral kaon photoproduction reactions from threshold up to a c.m. energy of 1855MeV, focussing specifically on the $ \gamma p\rightarrow K^0\Sigma^+$γp→K0Σ+, $ \gamma n\rightarrow K^0\Lambda$γn→K0Λ, and $ \gamma n\rightarrow K^0 \Sigma^0$γn→K0Σ0 reactions. Our results for $ \gamma n\rightarrow K^0 \Sigma^0$γn→K0Σ0 are the first-ever measurements for that reaction. These data will provide insight into the properties of $ N^{\ast}$N* resonances and, in particular, will lead to an improved knowledge about those states that couple only weakly to the $ \pi N$πN channel. Integrated cross sections were extracted by fitting the differential cross sections for each reaction as a series of Legendre polynomials and our results are compared with prior experimental results and theoretical predictions.
