Purpose The purpose of this paper is to estimate and analyse the technical efficiency (TE) component of productivity for a sample of winegrowers from the Douro Demarcated Region in Portugal. Design/methodology/approach The data were collected through face-to-face surveys and includes a sample of 110 farmers’ vineyards with specific input-output information and other data about production systems during the year of 2017. The authors use a two-stage data envelopment analysis using bootstrap techniques to obtain TE scores in the farmers’ vineyards and to examine the determinants of its efficiency. Findings The results show that some farmers’ vineyards have a low efficiency level and that there are essential determinants of the production system, which can influence its efficiency. This suggests considerable opportunities for improvement of wine grape productivity through better use of available resources considering the state of technology. Originality/value This work has overcome the lack of data in the farmers’ vineyards, the lack of efficiency studies in the region and also allowed to evaluate the production systems and to assess their impact on efficiency.

In evaluating the environmental efficiency analysis of Chinese industry systems, data envelopment analysis (DEA) has been a popular method. However, the production system is often treated as a black box in conventional DEA models. This study considers the internal structure of the production system to evaluate the environmental efficiency, which is characterized as a two-stage system, i.e., production subsystem and pollutant treatment subsystem. And, in reality, some subsystems in two-stage production systems are not equally important, and this kind of two-stage systems usually has the feature that one subsystem dominates the other. Thus, we consider the leader and follower relationship in the environmental efficiency analysis. A new non-cooperative two-stage DEA model considering undesirable intermediates and undesirable outputs is proposed to calculate the environmental efficiency. The proposed method is then applied to 30 regional industry systems of China in the year 2010. Thus, each DMU’s environmental efficiencies for the overall system as well as both subsystems could be analyzed by the proposed approach. More accurate information could be provided for environmental management.

In these days most of the software development uses preexisting software components. This approach provides plenty of benefits over the traditional development. Most of the software industries uses their own domain based software libraries where components resides in the form of modules, codes, executable file, documentations, test plans which may be used as it is or with minor changes. Due to shrinking time and high demand of software development it is necessary to use pre tested software components to ensure high functionality in software developed. Software components can be used very easily and without having the worries of errors and bugs because these are developed under expert supervision and well tested. What we have to do is just embed these components in our project. In this paper a survey got conducted over 112 software developer,testers and freelancers. In survey several issues in CBSD were identified. An efficient repository along with a component search engine is developed. All the component retrieval techniques were evaluated and compared with precise and recall method.

The paper dedicates in commemoration of K.A. Bagrinovsky, known scientist, doctor of economic sciences, professor. His thesis was theoretic problems of mathematical modeling and operation of economy. His works in the operations research, the methods making decision, the simulation were received in scientific world. The analysis and the modeling of the mechanisms for scientific and technological development for the production systems of different level in economic hierarchic both centrally controlled economy and making mechanism were conduced by Bagrinovsky in CEMI RAS. The paper presents the investigations (2001–2015) of the analysis and the simulation of the different mechanisms of the innovational activity. It also discusses the methods of the development the complex of the simulation models. In a sense simulation modeling is the science and the art as the selection of the salient parameters for the construction model, intake simplification, the computer experiment and the making decision based on scarcity of accuracy models rest on the heuristic power of men: the practical trial, the intelligence and the intuition. K.A. Bagrinovsky introduced the considerable endowment in the development of this direction for economic and mathematical investigation.The principal object was to show that the relationship between the innovational policy and the technological structure, scientific research sector and the introducing of the progressive production and the organizational structure is obtainable by the models. The character of these relationships may be to use in control of the parameters for the modernization economic. The construction simulation models and the experimental computation analysis were presented the investigations the different mechanisms of the innovational development ant the variants of the estimation have been accomplished on the modeling level by the computer experiment.

The perception of a basic education of the importance of agroecological agricultural systems for human and environmental health is fundamental for changes in consumption habits, the conservation of local biodiversity and long-term social transformation. We analyzed, by utilizing a questionnaire consisting of open and closed questions, the perceptions about agroecological and conventional agricultural production systems in 360 final students of basic education residing in nine Functional Planning Regions of southern Brazil. We used classification categories for answers within thematic axes, expressed in percentages and analyzed by means of Chi-square and Kruskal-Wallis tests. In general, students recognize agroecological systems as healthier for their families and for soil and water conservation, largely because they do not use agrochemicals. However, they demonstrated difficulties when arguing their importance for the conservation of biodiversity, ecosystems and for ensuring the food security of populations. Television was the main source of information related to agroecology, mainly for students residing in rural areas, thus pointing out shortcomings in basic education regarding the approach of the theme in schools. Our results show the need to build a complex network of knowledge and discussions on agroecological agricultural systems in basic education, involving changes in student perceptions, behaviors and sustainable choices.
