The authors have offered the homeostatic control system architecture for digital manufacture security based on the software-defined network technology. We have highlighted the development features of digital manufacture systems and defined the technology advantages of software- defined networks, which allow these networks to be successfully applied with flexible and adaptive topology for a highly efficient new generation of cyber-physical systems. We have also described the main operating principles of software-defined networks in digital manufacture systems. A description of homeostatic security control technology, which includes a combination of engines to provide stability of the system’s internal environment and structural and functional resistance to external disturbances, is provided. We have proposed and described in detail the homeostatic security control system architecture including three generalized components: monitoring unit, decision-making unit, protection and control unit.

Abstract This paper describes a case-study in the design of electromechanical systems with distributed actuators and sensors. A hierarchical mechanical architecture and the corresponding control system architecture is described with specific reference to paper handling systems within copiers and printers. General issues pertaining to the design of such systems are highlighted along with specific solutions. The paper concludes with a discussion of the lessons learnt from the design experience and its applicability to the general problem of concurrent mechanical and control system design of modular electromechanical systems.

This paper proposes multilevel architecture for an intelligent control system for the complex chemical energy technological process of yellow phosphorus production from apatite-nepheline ore processing waste. The research revealed that, when controlling this process, one has to deal with large amounts of multiformat and polymodal information, and control goals differ at different levels not only in effectiveness criteria, but also in the structuredness of the level problems. On this basis, it is proposed that intelligent methods be used for the implementation of information processes and control goals at individual levels and the whole system. The artificial intelligence methods underlying the informational model of a control system offer solutions to problems of analyzing control processes at different hierarchy levels, namely the initial level of sensing devices, the levels of programmable logic controllers, dispatching of control and production processes, enterprise management and strategic planning. Besides, the intelligent control system architecture includes analytical and simulation models of processes occurring in the multistage procedure of ore waste processing by a plant consisting of a granulating machine, a conveyor-type multichambercalcining machine, and an ore thermal furnace. The architecture of information support for the control system comprises a knowledge-based inference block intended for implementing the self-refinement of neural network and simulation models. Fuzzy logic methods are proposed for constructing this block. The paper considers the deployment of control algorithms for a phosphorus production system using the Matlab software environment on the basis of a modern complex system development paradigm known as the model-oriented design concept.

Doctoral thesis had been developed in the period from September 2009 until September 2012 in Department of Computer Control of Faculty of Information Technologies, Latvia University of Agriculture. The PhD thesis consists of 152 pages, which include 13 tables, 108 figures and 7 annexes. For the development of this paper 150 literature sources were used including 141 in foreign languages. The aim of the thesis is to improve the implementation of Precision Agriculture approach using the integration of various mathematical models in computer control of a multiobject biosystem. In order to achieve the aim of the PhD thesis several tasks were completed 1. Analyze the implementation of sensor networks and computer control in biosystem control and Precision Agriculture. 2. Analyze automatized control system development principles for biosystem control. 3. Develop a model based automatized computer control system architecture for biosystem control. 4. Develop an individual biological object monitoring and control system for Precision Agriculture realization for the honey bee wintering process. 5. Evaluate usability of the developed system for the bee colony state evaluation and control during the wintering process. The content of the PhD thesis: it is structured according to the aim and the tasks of PhD thesis consisting of 4 chapters. First chapter includes analysis of the application of computer control in Precision Agriculture and in biosystem control. The methodology for the application of the sensor network for biological system monitoring is provided. This chapter also provides introduction to practical work problematic. Second chapter includes description of the author developed model based control system architecture for the biological process monitoring and control. It emphasizes the focus on application of various multi-dimensional models for the decision support system realization. Third chapter includes detailed and sequent description of the bee wintering process control and monitoring task completion. In fourth chapter experimental data of the bee colony behaviour during the wintering process is summarized and analyzed. The precision of the bee colony temperature measurement system is evaluated. Calculations for commercial deployment of the system are provided. The main results, conclusions and future development prospects are described in the conclusion of the PhD thesis.
