The first time in Vietnam a passive sampling method has been developed to analyse the polar pesticides in surface water. The initial investigations of POCIS were performed for 7 polar pesticides as simazine,thiodicarb, carbofuran, chlortoluron, atrazine, isoproturon, and diuron. We determined the sampling rates RS for these substances ranged from 0.369 to 0.962 L day- 1. The obtained values of ku and RS showed the important influence of environmental factors such as flow on the ability to integrate polar pesticides in passive sampling process. This method can be applied to determine these 7 polar pesticides in surface water at trace levels according to European standards for pesticide residues in water (< 0.1 μg L-1).

Labobo isle is one of the satellite isle located around the mainland of Sulawesi Island. This study aims to determine the species composition of freshwater shrimp in the Batambean Stream located on Labobo Island, Banggai Laut, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. A purposive sampling method based on the habitat of freshwater shrimps was applied to collect the shrimps. Measurement of abiotic environmental factors is carried out before samples collection. Furthermore, freshwater shrimp are collected using tray net and hand net. Collected specimens were preserved in alcohol 96%. The specimen wasidentified at the Laboratory of Animal Biosystematics and Evolution, Department of Biology, Faculty of Sciences, Tadulako University. The composition of freshwater shrimp species in the Batambean Stream consists of four species, namely Macrobrachium equidens, M. australe, and M. latidactylus and Caridina gracilipes. The first three species belong to the family Palaemonidae while the latter species is a member of the family Atyidae. The brief description and conservation status of each species  were also provided

Abstract Objective Allergies are increasing, but the reasons for this are unclear. Although environmental factors are thought to be important, there is a lack of data on how they contribute to symptom development. To understand this relationship better, we need accurate data about both symptoms and environmental factors. Our objective here is to ascertain whether experience sampling is a reliable approach for collecting allergy symptom data in the general population, allowing us to map symptoms and understand etiology. Materials and Methods We conducted a 32-week cross-sectional study where individuals reported their seasonal allergy symptoms and severity via a mobile application. Symptom geographical location and timestamp were also collected automatically. Results The experience sampling method reliably infers the incidence of seasonal allergies as indicated by the strong correlation (r = 0.93, P &lt; .003) between the reported lack of wellness and the number of antihistamines prescribed by General Practitioners. Discussion and Conclusion The project has resulted in the first dataset to map allergy symptoms over time and place and reveals periods of peak hay fever symptoms in the UK.

AbstractProtozooplankton are dominant grazers of phytoplankton and an important component of the microbial food web, as a link between pico and nanoplankton to higher trophic levels. Their fast growing rate, relative abundance, biomass and diversity are used as indicators of organic and toxic pollution. The impact of urbanisation on ecosystems and their sustainability and biodiversity have recently been much studied. We studied the protozooplankton ciliate communities during the vegetation period from April to October in two small lakes (Bābelītis, Gaiļezers) and two reservoirs (Bolderāja, Saurieši). The largest peak of biomass (15.7 × 102 mg/l) was found in Gaiļezers Lake in August and of abundance (60.2 × 103 org/l) in Bābelītis Lake in July. The lowest biomass (0.006 mg/l) and abundance (0.12 × 103 org/l) were found in the Saurieši Reservoir station. The most abundant ciliates were from the order Oligotrichida.

The purpose of this research was to study distribution and abundance of (shrubs, herbs, and rumput) under the three stands,i.e. Pinus mercusii, Acacia auriculiformis and Eucalyptus alba and environmental factors influencing them in Gama Girimandiri Forest. Data were collected in April-May 2011, using square plots. Plots were located in three locations by followinga stratified random sampling method. We administered 10 repetitions, and plot size 5x5 m for shrubs and herbs, and 1X1 m forgrass. The species found in each stand were identified and calculated for their density, frequency, domination, importantvalue, diversity index, and those parameters’ correlation with the measured environmental factors. The study shows that 59species of herbs and shrubs, and 12 species of grass. In the three stands, it could be shown various domination of grass,meanwhile there is no dominant species at the level of herbs and shrubs. The highest density, measured by diversity index,was observed at the stand of Pinus (3,13), followed by Acacia (3,12) and Eucalyptus (2,8). The distribution and density ofMemecylon sp and Oplismenus burmanni were observed at their highest value under the stand of Pinus, Lantana camaraLinn (37.2). At the same fashion, Paspalum conjugatum (58.3) does under the stand of Acacia, and Desmodium triflorum(64,2) and Ischaemum magnum (122) under Eucalyptus. Lantana camara could always be found under the three stands, ithad high important value, categorized as strategy species and invasive. Light density and pH significantly influenced thediversity index of shrubs and herbs. In addition, only soil temperature gave an effect to grass.

AbstractThe aim of this research were to study the diversity of soil Arthropods in KerandanganProtected Forest and Natural Park; and to know the influence of environmental factors(physical and soil chemistry) on the abudance of soil Arthropods. This research wasconducted in Kerandangan Protected Forest and Natural Park. Soil arthropods were gatheredby PSM (metode perangkap sumuran/pitting trap method) and PCT (metode pencuplikantanah/soil sampling method).Identification to the artrophods captured by these methods wasdetermined until ordo level of classification, while data analysis was done by the use of HillBiodiversity Index. Soil Arthropods class that obtained by using PSM method are 5 classesand by PCT method are 6 classes. The total taxa of soil arthropods that obtained by usingPSM method was 25 taxa and by PCT method was 29 taxa. Formicidae, Hymenoptera other,Colembolla, Orthtoptera, Dermaptera weresoil Arthropod groups which are the most abundantand found in almost every location with PSM method. The Taxa obtained by PCT methodwere Acari, Hexapoda larva and Coleoptera.
