The relationship that exists between design, policies and governance is quite complex and presents academic researchers continuously with new opportunities to engage and explore aspects relevant to design management. Over the past years, we have witnessed how the earlier focus on developing policies for design has shifted to an interest in understanding the ways in which design contributes to policy-making and policy implementation. Research into policies for design has produced insights into how policy-making decisions can advance professional impact and opportunities for designers and the creative industries. This research looked into how design researchers and design practitioners themselves can benefit from specific policies that support design activities and create the space for emerging design processes.

Background:Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS) are disabling and common chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases. Objectives:The aim of our study was to evaluate the socio-professional impact of RA and AS.Methods:Using the Biological National Registry (BINAR) data, which includes ten tunisian rheumatology centers,we identified patients≥18 years with AS and RA according to the ACR and EULAR 2010 criteria(RA) and ASAS 2009 (AS), receiving biotherapy for less than two years.Results:298 patients were included in the study. The percentage of patients with RA was 58.7 % and those with AS 41.3%. The sex ratio was 0.6. The average age of the onset of the disease was 49.1 years ± 14.1 years [18–79]. For marital status, 72% were married, single (25%), widowed (2.6%) and divorced (0.4%). 22.4% of patients were illiterate, 32.7 % (primary), 28.3% (secondary) and 16.6% had an university level. For the RA population, a high disease activity (DAS28-ESR >5.1) was detected in 36% of patients, an erosive arthritis in 73.1% and 7.2% had a coxitis. In the AS group, an elevate BASDAI (BASDAI≥4) was detected in 56.9% of patients and 39% had coxitis. All patients have received Biological therapy concomitant with corticosteroids (59.1%), methotrexate (42.6%), salazopirine (20.8%) and leflunomide (4.7%). 54% of patients had a comorbidity, of which 1.7% was depression. More than half of our patients (54.3%) were unemployed, 40 % were professionally active, and 5.7% were retired due to the rheumatic condition. Absence from work was observed in 15.1% of cases with a total duration exceeding three months in 55.5% of cases. 37.9 % of patients were physically active: regularly (9.8%), irregularly (28.1%) and (62.1%) were sedentary. For the functional impact, HAQ score was 1.31± 0.7 for RA and BASFI was 5.2 ± 4.8 for AS. The working abandonment is significantly associated to: marital status (p=0.039), low level of education (p=0.04),depression (p<0.001), high activity of AS (p=0.004) and BASFI>4 (p=0,001).Conclusion:RA or AS requiring biotherapy have a high socio-economic impact and are responsible for absenteeism at work and even for early working abandonment. Early therapeutic management and a global assessment are essential in order to improve quality of life and working conditions. Longitudinal studies are needed to assess the effect of biological therapy on the socio-professional impact of these chronic inflammatory rheumatic disease.Disclosure of Interests:None declared

Palabras Clave: Transferencia de conocimiento, Investigación, Universidad, Pedagogía social, Indicador.ABSTRACTA new millennium university must be able to produce high quality research which results in innovation focused on improving the wellbeing of its time´s society. On this basis, this research’s objective has been to study universities and their degree of commitment with their research on Social Pedagogy. This has been done using an indicators system of knowledge transfer active rocesses. The answer to this goal has been provided through an exploratory study of 47 researches, done by 41 research teams in which 131 universities have participated between 2013 and 2018. The study provides the construction of a knowledge transfer indicators system in Social Pedagogy, its application and a first panoramic perspective of Social Pedagogy’s position in terms of a university’s “third mission”. The results show a good positioning, with researches diversified on subjects, population and research methodologies. There are consistent and good quality projects, often interdisciplinary and networked, with academic impact and especially with a great social and professional impact, even though there is a lack of formalisation in terms of registering this social and professional transfer. Keywords: Knowledge transfer, Research, University, Social pedagogy, Social education, Indicator.

Abstract Background Few data exist on the socio-professional impact in patients with perianal Crohn’s disease, probably because the patient-doctor relationship is mainly focused on obtaining clinical, biological and endoscopic remission of the Crohn’s disease (CD). Our study aimed to evaluate the impacts of perianal Crohn’s disease on work productivity. Methods A prospective cross-sectional study including patients with CD followed in the Gastroenterology department between July and August 2020 was performed. Professional impact was assessed using Work Productivity and Activity Impairment questionnaire (WPAI) which is composed of 6 questions evaluating during the last seven days preceding the interview with the patient, the absenteeism, the presenteeism, the total decrease in productivity and the decrease in daily activities for health reasons. The results are multiplied by 100, expressed as a percentage of time lost. A higher percentage indicates greater depreciation and less productivity. Professional impact was compared in patients with perianal Crohn’s disease and controls without perianal symptoms. Results Thirty two patients were included. The mean age was 38.28 years [18–60] and the sex ratio was 1. Perianal manifestations were observed in 15 patients (44% of cases). Thirteen patients (41%) were in paid employment at the time of inclusion. CD was responsible for an average absenteeism of 30% ± 10.4% [0–80%] of the working time during the last seven days. An average percentage of work impairment defining the presenteeism was noted to be 52% ± 28% [0–80%] of working time. The overall average decline in productivity was estimated at 56% ± 22% [0–97%]. CD was responsible for an average restriction of 45% ± 33% [0–100%] of usual daily activities. By comparing the professional impact according to the presence or not of anoperineal lesions (APL), an association between the mean rate of activity restriction and the presence of APL (p = 0.04) was objectified. However, no significant association was noted in the other dimensions of the WPAI questionnaire. Conclusion According to our study, it appears that Crohn’s disease is a source of reduced work productivity especially in case of perianal manifestation. These results should be confirmed by larger studies.

Background: Medical students experience high levels of stress during their training. Literature suggests that mindfulness can reduce stress and increase self-compassion levels in medical students. Most mindfulness training programs are delivered face-to-face and require significant time commitments, which can be difficult to achieve for rurally-based students with heavy academic workloads.Aim: We sought to determine the feasibility and effectiveness of a mindfulness training program delivered online to medical students at a Rural Clinical School. Methods: An 8-week online training program was delivered to third year medical students at the Rural Clinical School of Western Australia in 2016.Using quantitative-qualitative mixed-methods approach, we measured the frequency and duration of the participants’ mindfulness meditation practice, and assessed changes in their perceived stress, self-compassion and compassion levels, as well as personal and professional attitudes and behaviours. Results: 47 students were recruited to the study. 50% of participants were practising at least weekly by the end of the 8-week program, and 32% of responding students reported practising at least weekly 6 months following the intervention. There was a statistically significant reduction in participants’ perceived stress levels and a significant increase in self-compassion at 6 month follow up. Participants reported qualitative insights about the personal and professional impact of mindfulness meditation training as well as barriers to practice.
