AbstractWhat we hope for has a large impact on how we feel and behave. Research on the determinants and effects of a hopeful disposition is increasing in several academic fields, such as psychology, nursing and organizational studies. However, how hope is defined differs significantly between disciplines, leading to fragmentation in the insights that we can draw from this research. This systematic review aims to provide an extensive overview of the ascribed characteristics of the concept of hope in ten different academic fields. Using phenomenographic research methods, these characterizations are collected and categorized to offer a comprehensive conceptual framework of hope. The resulting framework comprises 7 themes and 41 sub-themes. We show how this framework can be used to obtain a fuller understanding of the concept of hope and of possible blind spots within specific research fields.

Across many years of teaching Research Methods and assessing many applications for admission into higher degree studies which require an understanding of theories, principles, strategies and skills needed to complete a higher degree such as a Masters or a PhD, one of the things I have found problematic for many students is the inability to articulate differences between theory, theoretical framework and a conceptual framework for a proposed research project. This paper uses experiential methodology to draw upon my experience in practice, and systematic literature review methodology to draw upon supporting scholarly literature by leaders in the field, to contribute to existing knowledge on the meaning of each of these concepts, and more importantly to distinguish between them in a study of Research Methods, and in particular as they relate to designing a research proposal and a thesis for a higher degree. The primary aim is to help the reader develop a firm grasp of the meaning of these concepts and how they should be used in academic research discourses. The review answers five questions. 1. What does each of these terms mean? 2. When and how should each be used? 3. What purposes does a theoretical framework serve? 4. How do you develop a theoretical framework for your research proposal or thesis? 5. What does a good theoretical framework look like?

By using method of mathematical statics and literature, we carry out stratified statistic, generalization and analysis of the scientific papers about Taekwondo in Core Chinese Journals (CCJ) during 2000-2010 according to five dimensions, including published time, the application of research methods, research fields, professional title and organization of authors, and language of citation. The result shows that not many scientific papers about Taekwondo have published in CCJ of these 11 years; research methods have been used widely, but the specific research method is rather single; contents of research are very wide; the authors are mainly lecturers and the organizations are mainly based on independent sports colleges; the major language of citation is Chinese and foreign languages are very few, especially Korean – there is no citation in Korean.

Despite nearly two decades of comparative research on voluntary sustainability standards, a number of important questions remain unanswered. Chiefly, can they succeed in generating environmental outcomes? This chapter conducts a systematic review of articles that compare two or more voluntary sustainability standards to illuminate a number of blind spots and biases in the research to date. It finds a strongly interdisciplinary research community and a plurality of research methods. However, it also finds a number of weaknesses: namely, an inattention to research on environmental impacts and a tendency to draw broad lessons from a handful of sectors and certifications that are concentrated primarily in industrialized countries. These weaknesses suggest that considerable gaps remain in knowledge about voluntary sustainability standards and imply the need for rethinking this research agenda.

BACKGROUND: The current pandemic crisis evidences the importance of questioning and reconsidering the evolution of organizational proximity and the crucial role of digitalization in the emergence of new characteristics, forms and configurations of organizational proximity. OBJECTIVE: This article presents a conceptual study aimed at analyzing the evolution of organizational proximity in the context of digitalization. METHODS: Adopting a systemic-cognitive approach inspired by existing studies on management cognition and the biology of cognition, this article first presents an analytical review of existing research in organizational studies and proposes a taxonomy of proximity based on the forms and characteristics identified in the organizational context. Second, it introduces the notion of a proximity unit, based on which a conceptual framework for analyzing organizational proximity is conceived. RESULTS: Based on the proposed framework, this article analyzes the new characteristics and forms of organizational proximity and identifies possible configurations of organizational proximity by pointing out the emergence of substituted proximity propelled by digitalization and formulating six propositions. CONCLUSIONS: The article ends by arguing that it is important for organizations to conceive a composite proximity strategy by taking into account the effect of substituted proximity, driven by digitalization, in the configuration of organizational proximity.

The majority of studies that analyze the impact of entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial attitudes, intentions, and venture activities report positive influences. However, several scholars have recently cast doubts about research methods and the generalizability of entrepreneurship education impact studies. In this study, we conducted a systematic literature review of the methods used in entrepreneurship education impact studies. Our results uncover significant methodological deficiencies and question the overwhelmingly positive impact of entrepreneurship education. Based on this evidence, we propose a series of recommendations to improve the reliability and validity of entrepreneurship education impact studies and we outline promising topics which are currently under-researched.

A rapid increase in climate researches by applying diverse methodologies and approaches in recent decades. These researches have directly or indirectly contributed in better understanding of climate issues, risks and vulnerabilities. It has improved awareness and capacities of the public and communities to adapt to the vulnerabilities and impacts. It, further, contributes in formulation of climate policies and plans to address climate risks and vulnerabilities at the local and national levels. Appropriate methodologies lead to better results in the researches. This paper has applied systematic review of the published papers (2010 -2017) to understand the general and specific research methodologies in climate discourse especially in Web of Science (WS), Springer Link (SL) and Science Direct (SD). Altogether, 37 journal papers (10 WS, 13 SL and 14 SD) were selected for the detail analysis based on the assessment of abstracts, which was mainly concentrated on research methodologies specializing in agriculture. In the process, the authors have analyzed the contents, research methodologies, data analysis, and geographical coverages. The analysis, further, concentrated on the scope and limitations of the research methodologies used.  Wide-ranging research methodologies are found that are applied by the researchers in the climate change discourse. Some researchers have applied general research methodologies whereas others have used specific research methodologies and model analysis. Furthermore, it is comprehended that the combination of research methodologies and approaches through focus group discussion together with household survey and model analysis is the effective way for the research by using quantitative and qualitative data.

Abstract An interpretative review of research on adult-infant interactions involving the analysis of movement behaviors is presented, systematically linking previous studies to current research on the subject. Forty-two articles analyzing the dyad's interactive movement in the period 1970-2015 were found. Twelve papers were excluded, including only those that studied the phenomenon in the baby's first year of life. The results revealed that movement was a central topic in early interaction studies in the 70s. In the 1980's and 1990's, its study was marginal and it is currently resurging under the embodiment perspective. The conceptual framework and research methods used in the pioneering work are presented, and the thematic foci shared with current research are highlighted. Thus, essential keys are provided for the updated study of early interactions from a multimodal perspective.

This study aims to determine the form of presentation of operas Batak, to describe a way of presenting opera Batak, to describe the form of presentation tortor, and to know the role tortor in staging opera Batak. The theoretical foundation of this research rests on several theories studied, namely the theory of presenting opera Batak, tortor presentation shape theory and theory of the role, with the conceptual framework as a translation problem contained therein. This research was conducted in the street Bah Bolon Kiri (Lorong IV) No. 96 Siantar, in December 2015 to February 2016. The method in this research use descriptive qualitative research methods. The population in this study were 1 informants who are knowledgeable about dance (tortor) in staging opera Batak, 1 director, 1 music player, and the first person who joins the cast in the opera Batak, the number of samples to be studied amounted to 4 people. Data collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The results of this study indicate that the form of presentation of opera Batak has important elements, namely: a play (drama), dialog, music (gondang), song (ende) and dance (tortor). Tortor the form of presentation of operas Batak presented three times, at the beginning, middle and end of the scene.
