Introduction: Down syndrome is caused by trisomy of chromosome 21, and it is the most common chromosomal abnormality in humans. This genetic condition is characterized by multiple skeletal abnormalities, including atlantoaxial instability that occurs in 9-31% of patients presenting clinical consequences in 1-3% of them. This study aims to report a case of atlantoaxial instability with clinical repercussions of quadriparesia. Case Report: A case of a 10-year-old boy, with Down syndrome, who could notget up for three months is reported. Clinical examination revealed quadriparesis. The lateral radiograph of the cervical spine showed a atlanto-odontoid distance of 6mm, confirming atlantoaxial instability.

INTRODUCTION: Gallbladder empyema is a serious complication of acute cholecystitis being peritonitis and sepsis it's main clinical consequences. Organ giant volume is rare specially with no relevant symptoms. CASE REPORT: Man 56-year-old with mild abdominal pain on the right hypochondrium, palpable gallbladder and ultrasound images revealing cholelithiasis. At surgery, there was a giant dilatation of the gallbladder with 580 mL of purulent bile. Cholecystectomy was carried out without post-operative complications. CONCLUSION: Early cholecystectomy should always be realized in patients presenting symptoms of gallbladder empyema no matter the size of it.

Background: Abortion, even when provided by law in cases of sexual violence, continues to be practiced in an insecure way, since women who suffer violence are not reported or guarded by social, institutional or age vulnerability, as in adolescence. Objective: Describe the clinical consequences of unsafe abortion, report this experience as well as sexual violence in situations of social and age vulnerability. Method: It is a clinical case report, with the consent of the patient, in the year 2016, of a 16-year-old female adolescent with a personal history of sexual violence by an intimate aggressor. Admitted to the health service with diagnosis of acute abdomen and induced abortion using antibiotic therapy. Results: Laboratory tests revealed altered C reactive protein and presence of leukocytosis, ultrasound showed heterogenic mass, computed tomography showed presence of cylindrical foreign body in vaginal cavity, surgical interventions, sepsis, clinical complications (pulmonary thromboembolism) and prolonged hospitalization. Conclusion: The history of violence portrayed in this study reveals an attempt of abortion with self harm, revealing negative clinical repercussions and the health problems of the adolescent. This person has committed an abortion that does not fit into the abortion criteria provided by law. It also revealed the need for further discussion on the topic, highlighting health promotion practices against unsafe abortion.

Treacher Collins syndrome usually affects bilateral and symmetric structures that include the orbits, mandible, and ears. The purpose of this report is to describe a clinical case of the syndrome, focusing on the anatomy of the temporomandibular joint, which was assessed using the computed tomography method. Clinical examination included evaluation of mandibular dynamics, investigation of temporomandibular dysfunction, and measurement of bite force. Significant morphological and functional alterations were observed but without significant documented clinical consequences.

Abstract Vertical transmission of SARS-CoV-2 has already been described, while clinical consequences to the fetus are still under investigation. This article reports a case of systemic fetal inflammatory response and pericardial effusion. As far as is known, this is the first case of fetal/neonatal cardiac complications related to SARS-CoV-2 infection.

The outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has recently become a serious issue affecting thousands of people worldwide. It is known that a substantial proportion of patients infected with COVID-19 have abnormal liver function tests; however, the consequences of this information is still not clear. Here we present the first case report of a patient with liver cirrhosis and COVID-19 in our centre. Resolution of COVID-19 symptoms was observed after six days of fever onset. We observed only slight fluctuations of liver enzymes, bilirubin levels and INR without clinical consequences in our case. We suggest testing for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus on any cirrhotic patient on initial presentation, even without symptoms of COVID-19 in areas where the epidemic was prevalent.

Abstract Introduction : Covid-19 infection has particularly affected older adults. Clinical observations in this population highlight major respiratory impairment associated with development or aggravation of frailty state.Case Presentation : Mr P is a 93 years old frail patient, hospitalized after a COVID-19 infection. The assessment process of this patient has been supported by an innovative multi-systemic tool developed in view of the COVID-19 clinical consequences and a systemic evaluation of motor functions by the Frail BESTest. This process allowed presenting a mixed clinical picture associating an important respiratory distress (linked with the acute respiratory distress syndrome) and an evident motor frailty. The care plan was developed accordingly, and four assessment were done in the same manner until the return home of Mr PConclusion : This case report allows seeing holistically a COVID-19 clinical picture, showing the different axis of clinical reasoning to enhance the rehabilitation process. Furthermore, this case report illustrate the importance of rehabilitation in the Covid-19 context.

AbstractObjective:To review the phenomenon and implications of temporal bone and craniofacial bone staining in the context of prolonged exposure to tetracycline antibiotic. Methods:Case report and literature review. Results:A 52-year-old male with a 5-year history of tetracycline use presented to undergo tympanomastoidectomy and was found to have an unusual rusty green pigmentation of the entire aspect of the exposed temporal bone. A literature review revealed more than 20 cases of tetracycline-induced pigmentation of intraoral maxillary and mandibular bone, and 2 prior cases involving the cranial bones. Conclusion:Tissue and organ pigmentation is an unexpected and unfavourable consequence of the use of tetracyclines, particularly minocycline. Tetracycline is contraindicated in children because of the risk for dysosteogenesis and enamel hypoplasia. In adults, although the unusual staining may present as an unexpected dilemma upon surgical exposure, current research shows no significant clinical consequences for this type of pigmentation.
