The main questions that trouble ecologists are concentrated on the state of the environment per square unit, while concerns of food security supporters are concentrated on a cost of production unit (which is bigger in comparison with standard for organic agriculture). Economists, in turn, are concerned about the low cost of decision for achievement of food security in comparison with environmental safety. The point, discussed in the chapter, is related to implementation of organic and traditional technologies of farming. It is expedient to estimate the changes of environment per units of production, if there is a set of food production and soils of a variable quality.

This article reveals the economic and social preconditions of ecologization agricultural production. Purpose of this article is to offer a system solution of environmental problems in the agricultural sphere both at the global and local levels. It has been found that meeting the needs of mankind is accompanied by new innovative technological solutions that are sometimes dangerous to human life and health, and increase in the food production in developing countries is accompanied by depletion of natural resources, specifically land and water. On the basis of scientific and special methods of economic research, core areas of ecologization agricultural production have been grounded: meeting the needs of the population in the environment-friendly food; ensuring people environmental safety; use of technologies and methods of agricultural production that do not harm human health and the environment.

This work reviews the recent development of biopolymer-based delivery systems for agricultural application. Encapsulation into biopolymer microparticles ensures the protection and targeted delivery of active agents while offering controlled release with higher efficiency and environmental safety for ecological and sustainable plant production. Encapsulation of biological agents provides protection and increases its survivability while providing an environment safe for growth. The application of microparticles loaded with chemical and biological agents presents an innovative way to stimulate plant metabolites synthesis. This enhances plants’ defense against pests and pathogens and results in the production of higher quality food (i.e., higher plant metabolites share). Ionic gelation was presented as a sustainable method in developing biopolymeric microparticles based on the next-generation biopolymers alginate and chitosan. Furthermore, this review highlights the advantages and disadvantages of advanced formulations against conventional ones. The significance of plant metabolites stimulation and their importance in functional food production is also pointed out. This review offers guidelines in developing biopolymeric microparticles loaded with chemical and biological agents and guidelines for the application in plant production, underlining its effect on the plant metabolites synthesis.

Conflicts stemming from the dispute over natural resources have become increasingly more frequent. Extreme weather events have intensified and have equally become more frequent owing to global warming. Although the consequences of such phenomena have repercussions on public safety, the processes of analysis incorporating the environmental dimension in this context have not been fully understood. This paper assessed how systems of environmental protection interconnect with those of crime prevention, forming the environmental safety system. It is an exploratory-descriptive research carried out through questionnaires evaluated by State environmental control agencies, exploring eight major domains: their origins; their staff, distribution and organization; logistics and operational structures; the use of geotechnologies; integration; operational results; regional analysis; and the general analysis of military environmental police. The last section, in conclusion, reviews the main lessons learned and proposes future lines of research that can be developed based on this topic. It highlights that the military environmental police should be the most significant agent of nature protection in the country. It reveals the existence of weaknesses and opportunities for improvement to be implemented.

Metallurgical fuel, including various types of mineral fuels: coke, hard coal, brown coal, peat, combustible shales and products of their technological conversion – needs environmental control of their use safety. When burning metallurgical fuel, harmful substances fall into the environment such as chlorine, fluorine, sulfur, arsenic, which worsen the environmental situation. Technical regulations on the safety of coal products contain requirements to limit the content of harmful impurities and their maximum permissible concentrations. Due to the wide spread of fluorine in natural and technological objects and the high toxicity of its compounds, the control of fluorine content is an urgent problem in the industrial use of metallurgical fuel. Physical methods for the determination of fluorine in solid fuel based on excitation of different spectra of the studies allow to identify it without decomposition directly in the source solid material, however, they have several limitations (sensitivity, accuracy of definition, complexity of hardware design). In other methods, mainly in ionchromatography and ionometry, samples are decomposed and fluorine is transferred into the solution. High temperature processes: pyrohydrolysis and combustion melting are usually used for decomposition. The aim of this work was to create a selective method for ionometric determination of fluorine with a fluoride-selective electrode. The study objects were samples of coal: brown, gas, semicoke, coke nut. Effective decomposition of the samples by two-stage high-temperature melting with KNaCO3 is proposed. Hydrolysis coprecipitation of accompanying interfering cations with chloride iron (II) was carried out for fluorine discharge in the solution in the form of free fluoride. The procedure of decomposition and ionometric determination of fluorine is described. The estimation of trueness and reproducibility of the developed technique by the method of sample variation was carried out. Fluorine content in the studied samples did not exceed the limit- tolerance values for commercial samples of coal products, which indicates the environmental safety of the samples in their subsequent energy application. The developed method is promising for the control of fluorine impurity in metallurgical fuel and is characterized by selectivity and simple carrying out.

This chapter discussed the greenhouse requirement for soilless crop production. It further introduced soilless crop production and elucidated the equipment required for an efficient production system covering greenhouse environmental control and management of temperature, humidity, lighting, and nutrients using innovative strategies. Also, the energy required for the control of the greenhouse environmental conditions during the crop production cycle was explained. Identification and management of pests and diseases using wireless network sensors and the Internet of Things for efficient and safe food production were also highlighted. Finally, the challenges facing greenhouse crop production itemized, and the prospects of greenhouse technology for sustainable healthy food production were proposed.
