Abstract The purpose of this paper is to examine settings for the Open Innovation Arena. In greater depth, this paper aims to analyse and reveal which factors influence the formation of an appropriate arena for doing open innovation and furthermore to prescribe how a firm can create an effective arena to gain access to external knowledge. This paper presents a review on open innovation literature with the purpose of examining the current understanding of factors influencing a firm's capacity to embrace and practice open innovation as well as understanding what is critical when fitting outside systems. It presents the results of a survey conducted among 25 researchers from INESC TEC, the Portuguese Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology, and Science. The study concludes that conditions, namely culture, leadership and strategy, are the main drivers to an open innovation arena, highlighting culture as the most important one. Highlights Nowadays, the goal of each organisation is to conquest competition and to win new customers. Firms must create physical locations where collaboration is encouraged. Companies must be able to diagnose, measure and question its innovation performance and potential. The Innovation Scoring System impacts a firm's capacity to embrace and practice open innovation; Impacting factors on Innovation Scoring System: Conditions, Resources, Processes and Results. Open Innovation is a powerful tool for the sustainable development of the companies.

Purpose National student loans help solve the problem of tuition fees for students from poor families to a great extent. This paper aims to study the behavior of three main players involved in university student loans, namely, universities, banks and students and explores necessary conditions for promoting the steady development of student loans, as well as the sustainability of cooperation and coordination among players, thus promoting the further development of student loans. Design/methodology/approach First, from the perspectives of the three related players of banks, students and universities and their behavior, this paper establishes a three-player behavioral evolutionary game model, conducts a sustainable game analysis among the different players, and by replicating the dynamic equations with the Jacobian matrix solve the evolutionarily stable strategy. Finally, applying MATLAB tools, a sensitivity analysis of relevant impacting factors is carried out to explore the influencing mechanism of the sustainable development of student loans. Findings To achieve the mechanism of mutual coordination and cooperation between participants, banks need to be guided to actively issue student loans and conduct strict loan review. College students should be encouraged to establish good credit and strengthen penalties should be implemented for violations of regulations. Universities should be encouraged to help banks reduce information asymmetry, promote financial knowledge and student integrity education and promote the sustainable development of national student loans. Originality/value This research will help scholars better understand the interaction mechanism among universities, banks and students, and promote the sustainable development of national student loans.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify factors influencing the attitudes of individuals towards sustainable development, in its different dimensions.Design/methodology/approach: For the scope of the study, were admitted students from presential courses in Administration and Accounting Sciences from two Higher Education Institutions (HEI) located in the State of Bahia. Questionnaire was used as the data collection instrument. For the test of hypothesis, a multiple linear regression analysis was made, with a data base of 254 questionnaires.Findings: There was evidence that the knowledge about sustainability influences, in a positive and significant way, the student attitude in Dimensions Environmental, Economic, Social and Education. Results indicate that students with left-wing political conceptions have a tendency of showing more positive attitudes regarding sustainable development in Social and Education Dimensions. Finally, evidence was obtained about negative and significant relation between family income with Environmental and Economic Dimensions.Research Implications: Conceptually, in this study a fourth dimension of attitudes regarding sustainability was incorporated to the traditional tripod of sustainability, thus transforming it in a tetrahedron.Practical Implications: The meaning and importance of those evidences are discussed and can contribute to generate policies on education for sustainability.Originality/value: The study contributes to enable a better understanding about the formative process, the conscience, the attitude and the behaviors around sustainability questions in the field of management, which are relevant for reaching one of the Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the United Nations.

The main purpose of this paper was to apply the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) approach to explore key factors influencing the sustainable development of a green energy industry in Taiwan. Based on the literature and experts' opinions, a hierarchical structure with five assessment aspects and fifteen development factors was first constructed, and a FAHP algorithm model was then proposed. Finally, based on the AHP experts' questionnaires, we used the FAHP approach to evaluate the key factors. The results showed the following. (1) “Technology” is the most important aspect influencing sustainable development of green energy industry in Taiwan. (2) In order of relative importance, the top six key factors influencing sustainable development of green energy industry in Taiwan are “establishment of key technological capabilities,” “degree of integration of relevant laws and regulations,” “establishment of an industry chain,” “key raw materials and production equipment,” “protection of intellectual property,” and “preferential purchase price rates and various subsidies,” respectively.

Financial technology-based firms (FinTech) are crucial to promoting new technologies and advances in innovations related to the financial field, sustainable development, and financial inclusion. This paper aims to assess the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and open innovation integrated within the public discourse in the social media of FinTech firms, using machine-learning-based social media analysis (SMA). Accordingly, we tracked the behavior of 21 firms based on the empirical material of 32,716 posts on Twitter. The outcomes showed dissimilar discourses based on FinTech firms’ activities. However, it was found that only financial infrastructure, lending, and personal finance fields have a discourse related to innovation and, to a lesser extent, related to the SDGs thematic. Thus, awareness of sustainable objectives is still far from being a relevant issue for FinTech, which, in general, has neglected to significantly mention SDGs; nonetheless, innovation and related terms are a consistent topic in this area. Furthermore, hints of the implementation of the open innovation paradigm and interest in novel technologies are demonstrated, in addition to the promotion of different actors and events on social media that serve as a showcase for firms that have a presence on Twitter.

AbstractTo promote the development of the western region in China, it is necessary to build an indicator system to scientifically measure the level of sustainable development in Western China. Based on the construction of a sustainable development level evaluation indicator system, this study employs the panel data entropy model to evaluate the sustainable development level of four state-level urban agglomerations in Western China from 2009 to 2018. Then, the geographical detector model is used to measure the spatial heterogeneity degree of the sustainability index and detect the factors influencing the spatial heterogeneity. The results show that (1) the innovation environment and economic growth are the core factors influencing the sustainable development level. (2) The sustainable development level of the cities within the urban agglomerations varies considerably. The sustainability level of central cities and provincial capital cities is significantly higher than that of outlying cities. (3) From the perspective of time, the sustainable development level of the Chengdu–Chongqing urban agglomeration and Guanzhong Plain urban agglomeration shows a rising trend; the Lanzhou–Xining urban agglomeration fluctuates greatly; and the Hohhot–Baotou–Ordos–Yulin urban agglomeration is decreasing. (4) The spatial heterogeneity level of sustainable development among cities in the western urban agglomerations is high, economic factors play a leading role in the spatial heterogeneity of sustainable development, and the western region needs to emphasize regional coordinated development.

The current oil depot environmental risk is big with a wide range of environmental impact, although we have increased environmental protection efforts, but the situation is still grim. The transceiver of petroleum materials in the oil depot, storage and the oil vapor and water resulted by other operations will pollute the environment, and environmental pollution will limit the development of oil depots inevitably. So, we must pay attention to environmental protection for the sustainable development of oil depots. This paper mainly Analysis of the factors influencing petroleum materials on the environment of the oil depot.
