Techniques for extending the production limits in forming technology are of great economic importance. In this research, a superimposed oscillation in the main force flow of an axial forming process to form an axial gear geometry is investigated. The effects of the superimposed oscillation on the achievable form-filling of the tooth cavities are analyzed and the parameters lubrication and surface quality of the semi-finished products are investigated in their combined effect. A reduction of the averaged forming force as well as an increase of the form-filling could be achieved.

Incremental forming is one of the most well-known forming processes for complex and asymmetric parts. This method uses a CNC machine, simple forming tool, and a die. This study focused on effects of some parameters such as the material, feed rate, pitch, rotational speed and movement strategy of tool on the dimensional precision, forming force, thickness distribution and fracture in the welding area. The results showed that single point incremental forming (SPIF) led to a better thickness distribution with lower tool force, whereas two-point incremental forming led to better dimensional accuracy. Rotational speed does not have any significant impact on the forming process while decreasing the feed rate partially reduced the forming force. According to the results, although dimensional precision in double point incremental forming is better than SPIF, when it comes to the thickness distribution, forming force, and economic issues, SPIF is in favor. The results also showed that by connecting two materials, different parameters for the two materials could be investigated simultaneously in one simulation process.

Spin-forming of part with internal tooth is a new technology of the near-net forming in gear manufacturing field. And the main purpose of the parts spin-forming is to shape teeth on the internal surface of blank. In order to improve the forming quality of internal tooth, the effect of roller on tooth height of spline was investigated by processing experiments and finite element simulation. The result indicates that, for full-radius roller, a large nose radius has also witnessed a discernible growth in spinning force and tooth height; considering the uniformity of tooth height distribution of spun part and decrease in forming force, the bio-conical roller is more suitable for this forming process

The aim of the work. The effect of the curvature of the rounding of torus surfaces during the formation of a cylindrical product (glass) is investigated, taking into account the plastic thinning of the deformable material at the end edges of the matrix and pressing punch. Methods. The existing scheme for determining the power parameters of sheet drawing is analyzed, based on the assumption of the implementation of some abstract stress state in the material; mainly conditional tensile strength. At the same time, the possibility of forming the product without destruction determines the obvious overestimation of the stress level. A mathematical model of the volumetric stress state of the metal is being developed, which makes it possible to assess the deformation and stress state during the formation of a cold-drawn product, i. e. the folding of the sheet blank along the end radius of the rounding of the pressing punch and the steady-state process of drawing the blank into the deformation zone with successive bending/straightening of the material along the edge of the matrix are considered. The level of radial stresses during folding and stretching of sheet material is estimated, taking into account its strain hardening and thinning, which determine the forming force. The obtained results will make it possible to simulate the stress-strain state of the metal during the development of sheet drawing technology: to establish the amount of thinning, to estimate the level of radial stresses in the formation of rounding of torus surfaces along the end edges of the matrix and the pressing punch, as well as to determine the power parameters of the formation, which will prevent the destruction of the pulled part, guaranteeing obtaining high-quality products and more accurately choosing the deforming equipment.

Sheet-bulk metal forming is a novel manufacturing technology, which unites the advantages and design solutions of sheet metal and bulk metal forming. To challenge the high forming force the process is superimposed with an oscillation in the main flow of the process. The paper focuses on the characterization of the material behavior under cyclic load and the effects for the sheet bulk metal forming process.

Abstract Fine blanking is a kind of metal forming process with the advantages of high precision, good surface quality and low cost. Influenced by the concept of lightweight, a large number of metal materials with high strength are widely used in various fields. High strength materials are prone to be cracked during plastic deformation due to their poor plasticity, which limits the application range of them. This paper proposed a force variation fine blanking process for high-strength and low-plasticity materials. At the same time, a method to find the curve of forming force for this novel process was presented. A 2D finite element fine blanking model was established for the TC4 material. Combining genetic algorithm and neural network methods, a model was built up to find the optimal forming force loading curve. The parts fabricated by force variation loading and constant loading fine blanking process were compared through experiments. The mechanism of force variation fine blanking is also revealed. The forming force mainly affects the length of clean cutting surface by affecting hydrostatic stress. According to the ultimate optimal loading curve, the forming force should be kept at a low level in the early stage of blanking stroke, and increased gradually in the ending stage. In the application of force variation fine blanking, the part with long length of clean cutting surface can be obtained with lower die load.

Aimed at the present domestic problems in the forging process of claw pole, such as insufficient corner filling, excessive forming force and short life of dies. On the basis of the analyzing in the claw pole, a new process named the closed hot die forging, direct extrusion process of claw pole is constituted. The numerical simulation using DEFORM-3D and the special mould are used in the forging experiment in order to check the new process. The results show that, new technology has greatly reduced the forming force, thereby reducing the production processes and improving the life of dies for mass production.
