Novi Sad is the second-most populous city in Serbia. As an urban entity, and an immigration factor, its importance increased after the break-up of the former Yugoslavia. Due to the immigration of inhabitants, both from the former republics of Yugoslavia and from other parts of Serbia, population growth has led to morphological changes. The city expanded towards Futog, Rumenci and Bački Jarak. In addition, the city has undergone significant changes in the internal physiognomy, in the central parts of the city, as well as in the other parts. In the central parts of the city, efforts are being made to preserve old architectural buildings. However, in the eighties of the last century, the demolition of old buildings in the center began. In their place, they sprouted buildings of modern architecture, which do not fit into the previous style of construction, pertaining to the late 19th and early 20th century. This trend continued later throughout the 21st century. Particularly evident are the changes in the shift of individual, collective construction, which is characteristic of the center itself and the narrower and broader surroundings of the city's central parts. Collective housing facilities are springing up all over Novi Sad, depending on the investor. The style of construction is changing, as well as the purpose of some urban spaces. An additional problem is the increasing traffic load and congestion of roads, especially during the time of getting to school and work, as well as the time of return. These are just some of the apparent issues that Novi Sad faced in the post-socialist period, which need to be solved for the sustainability of an organized city.

Paper Street system as determinant of urban and social structure of central areas of Novi Sad and Sombor is dedicated to study of complex relations of urban planning and architecture, relation which is key for every building of the city. In the first part is dealing with theoretical understanding of street systems and their relationships with all important elements of urban morphology. Elements of urban morphology is analysed thought interaction with street systems, because is it part of the built environment which include social, economic, traffic, demographic, political and technological components of contemporary settlements, and forming the spaces especially for public functions, in the first socialisation and traffic. Theoretical basis from the first part of the work are used for establishment of criteria for analysis of urban spaces of central areas of two Vojvodinas towns. Fragments of the one square kilometre are analysed with following criteria: configuration of the land and influence on the street system, morphology of street system, socialisation places, elements of identity, presence of vegetation and water. Direction of analysis and studious critical valorisation is to the open - unbuilt - public - social urban spaces.

This paper shows the results of the analysis of the fruit morphometric characteristics of 29 trees of sycamore maple (Acer pseudoplatanus L.) and red - leaf sycamore maple (Acer pseudoplatanus ??tropurpureum? Sp?th.) in Novi Sad area. Based on the test trees, it can be concluded that the analyzed secondary population of sycamore maple has a high level of intra - populations variability, based on different degrees of variability of measured parameters and statistically significant differences of all analyzed parameters within the analysed genotypes. The results indicate that there are certain differences between fruit of sycamore maple and its red - leaf variety. Given that there is no statistically significant difference between sites and different urban spaces, it can be concluded that stress factors caused by a high degree of urbanity do not affect the morphometric characteristics of fruits in the analyzed test trees. Testing the symmetry of fruits indicates a high level of genetic variability within the analyzed population.

This paper discusses the process of gentrification, researched through a perspective of its positive and negative aspects. It underlines the importance of reasonable proportioning, sensible structuring and long-term planning of transformation of urban spaces, which contributes to an upgrade of living conditions and qualitative advancement of social consciousness and development of needs of the local inhabitants, regardless of their socio-economic profile. Despite not perceiving gentrification as an a priori negative process, influences of alterations of urban tissue carried out through radical and narrowly interpreted modifications of their character may cause undesired changes in the perception and use of the space and were analyzed as well. A case study of the gentrification of Grbavica, an urban fragment in Novi Sad, Serbia, is presented. The goal of this research was to critically valorize the over-all transformation of the aforementioned fragment, taking into account architectural, urban, social, cultural, economic and other facets.

I am writing this analytical appreciation of cultura panamericana, or pan-American culture, to propose a wider recognition of how its historical linkages and contemporary manifestations confront colonialism, honor indigenous roots, and reflect multiple, mixed-race identities. Although often mediated by transnational pop-culture industries, expressive cultural forms such as art and music articulate resonant themes that connect US Latinos and Latinas to Latin Americans, pointing the way toward a hemispheric imaginary. In US murals, for example, whether in the Chicago neighborhood of Pilsen or the Los Angeles neighborhood of Highland Park, pan-American expressive culture offers alternative representations by embracing indigeneity, and it creates a sense of place by tropicalizing urban spaces.

There is a close relationship between the creation of urban spaces and ergonomics. To make new stimulating and satisfying urban spaces, ergonomics criteria should consider. In this study, two main urban squares from Istanbul examined. Selected urban squares evaluated by site observation according to the classified ergonomics criteria. Strong and weak points of chosen squares discussed and some suggestions proposed. The results demonstrated the fact that urban equipment meets the individual ergonomic criteria are not sufficient in the use of both squares, and they need to be re-planned.Keywords: Ergomomics; urban squares, IstanbuleISSN: 2398-4287 © 2019.
