Abstract RMI Beta C is a heat-treatable titanium-base alloy that develops a tensile strength of over 200,000 psi in the solution-treated-and-aged condition. It has good ductility and toughness, good fabricability and a low elastic modulus. It has good resistance to general corrosion and it resists hot, aggressive environments containing ferric chloride, sodium chloride, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide. Its applications include coil springs, fasteners, rivets and downhole oil-production equipment. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, elasticity, and tensile properties. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as forming, heat treating, machining, joining, and surface treatment. Filing Code: Ti-87. Producer or source: RMI Company.

Tool wear experiments in turning titanium alloy Ti6Al4V in the solution-treated and aged condition were carried out; the influence rules of cutting parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate and cutting depth on the tool life were obtained. Experimental formula of tool wear was regressed based on multi-variable linear regression analysis, it could predict tool life under certain conditions.

A method for the production of Inconel 718 (IN-718) hemispherical domes by closed die hammer forging is proposed. Different combination of operations employed for production are as follows: (i) preforging + final forging + air cooling, (ii) preforging + final forging + controlled cooling, (iii) direct forging + controlled cooling, and (iv) direct forging + air cooling. Last three combinations yielded a crack free hemispherical dome. The forged hemispherical domes were solution annealed at 980°C for 1 h and air cooled. The grain size of the domes at all locations was finer than ASTM No 4. Mechanical properties of the forged dome in solution treated and aged condition (STA) were better than feedstock used.

Abstract ALUMINUM A356.0 is a sand and permanent-mold casting alloy. It responds to an age-hardening heat treatment. This alloy has a relatively good combination of strength and ductility in the solution-treated and aged condition. Aluminum A356.0 is recommended for aircraft and missile components where high strength and resistance to corrosion are required. This datasheet provides information on composition, physical properties, hardness, elasticity, tensile properties, and compressive and shear strength as well as fatigue. It also includes information on corrosion resistance as well as casting, heat treating, machining, and joining. Filing Code: Al-258. Producer or source: Various aluminum companies.
