Abnormal forms in the brittle-star Amphipholis squamata: a field study

Deviation from pentamerism is a rare phenomenon in 5-armed echinoderm species. Qualitative and quantitative data from field observations of 14 populations around the world were used for a biogeographical study of this phenomenon. Four abnormal forms presenting deviation from the classical pentamerism of echinoderms were observed within the brittle-star species Amphipholis squamata (Echinodermata: Ophiuroidea). Although these forms were rare in global populations (0·29%), they can reach important frequencies in some locations. Our results suggest that habitat structure has an influence on the occurence of abnormal forms. Moreover, deviations from pentamerism are not a heritable character but are a consequence of environmental perturbations on the metamorphosis of larvae and/or abnormal regeneration of arms.

This article aims to explain the social categorization mechanism that governs the world of cybercriminals. It is therefore a practical review of the "grazer" including festive practices (sex, alcohol, psychotropic, etc.) that the ethnographic approach allowed to do. The analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data, put light on the complexity of the social processes of the Ivorian typologisation cybercriminal and festive practices related thereto. Thus the daily "bulldozer" and the ritualistic nature of existing social practices were observed over one year (February 2012 - January 2013), among 250 respondents of which 100 criminals on all 10 districts of Abidjan. This allowed to go to the evidence that festive practices are the ends pursued scams grazers. They determine their belonging to a category of cybercriminals while strengthening the perpetuation of scams on the web activities.

This study aims to analyse some contradictions and the interface between scientific and local knowledge on urban agriculture based on the one hundred and five households survey in Kangeshwori-Manohara low-lying Area. Semi-structure questionnaires interviews, key informant survey, field observations as well as categorization techniques were used for both qualitative and quantitative data and information. The farmers had changed their production from traditional to intensive, market-oriented agriculture. The transition had made tem to adopt wider range of improved farming techniques that means the by and large had entered into economically viable production, and also sustainable in terms of nutrient balance. The farmers' practices had indicated some extent of link between scientific and indigenous knowledge.

Context last year brought deep sadness and great grief to many people - including and especially the students, parents and staff in schools across Pakistan and across the world in response to children being massacred brutally at a school in KPK, Pakistan. Schools, colleges, and universities, as a result, have been converted into fortresses and a thriving business for security-wallas. A case study of this program will be prepared through both qualitative and quantitative data examining the impact of FCCU's peace education program. We are hoping that this work would initiate the process of introducing peace education interventions in Pakistan at regional and global levels. This chapter will also help other peace education programs to learn from FCCU's approach of peacebuilding.

This study is a survey from differences Universities of Cote d’ivoire, in order to understand the challenges facing by searchers during their scientific research. The study developed questionnaire consisting of five hypotheses, among diversities of challenges encountered by scientific searchers around the World. The choice of this five hypothesis is due to the differences characteristics such as the history of the nations and because Cote d’ivoire is less-developed country. This paper adopted a qualitative and quantitative analysis research strategy to examine the difficulties facing by searchers. This Work used two methods a semi –structured interview, and experimentation. Qualitative data has been collected through interview while quantitative data by experimentation. Our finding confirmed the difficulty encountered by the differences searchers at Universities or institutions searchers, or institutions searchers to achieve a fruitful outcomes research for its own interest or for participation in country development projects.

Public bureaucracies are central institutions in the delivery of public services. There has been, however, some tendency to consider all bureaucracies as fundamentally the same. This chapter rejects that assumption and examines a number of different ways of comparing public bureaucracies, including rational choice theory, administrative culture, organization theory, and institutionalism. These approaches have supplied both qualitative and quantitative data for the comparison of administrative systems, and demonstrate the diversity of public administration around the world. These approaches serve as the background to the study of administrative traditions as another powerful approach to understanding how public bureaucracies function.

<p class="3">With its total number of users (around 62 million) throughout the world, it is important to determine the views of academics who use Edmodo (the leading SLN. In this respect in the first part of this two-part research, the purpose was to examine academics’ (n=50) use of technology and social networks. As for the purpose of the second part, it was to determine the views of 12 academics—selected from the academics participating in the first part—who had experience in Edmodo about the basic features of Edmodo and about its use in education. In the study carried out with the mixed method, the qualitative and quantitative data were collected with an online questionnaire. The findings obtained were interpreted within the framework of cooperative learning and the theories of “Diffusion of Innovations” and “Uses and Gratifications,” and the related themes were formed. As a result, the academics with experience in Edmodo reported their views about the benefits of use of the Edmodo in education. Regarding the differences between Edmodo and social networks, the results suggested that the former was used completely for educational purposes and that it did not involve any unnecessary components.</p>

Around the western world, migration programs are increasingly targeting skilled professionals as governments view migration through the lens of economic efficiency. The majority of Australia’s migration intake now comprises skilled migrants, chosen for their human capital attributes. However, once skilled migrants arrive in Australia, they confront many barriers to re-establishing their careers in a new labour market. This paper uses qualitative and quantitative data to explore the consequences of this career disruption for professional women from Hong Kong, who often find themselves reorienting their identities and values away from the world of work and towards non-market-based spheres of life, such as family, leisure and self-development. This evolution challenges the Australian government’s economistic definitions of social citizenship, where migrants are seen almost exclusively as economic beings. Despite the government’s objectives, for many new arrivals, migration to Australia is an opportunity to explore other, non-economic, aspects of life.

The study attempts to understand the socio-economic and living conditions of Muslim communities with an emphasis on the livelihood and status of women living in slums located in the old city of Hyderabad. To this end, it collected information 2,354 households of 19 slums using the qualitative and quantitative data gathered from their residents. Using this, this report looked closely at the policy framework and institutional capacity of the state for the socio-economic development of Muslims. Evidence culled from a review of documents and reports, interviews with government department officials and field observations hinted at improved institutional performances, thanks to initiatives such as the creation of Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA) in 2006 and the relaunching of the Prime Minister’s 15-Point Programme with an emphasis on educational opportunities, employment and economic activities and living conditions. However, the analysis and findings of this study still identified several institutional incapacities in terms of gaps between development needs and policies especially in the context of marginalised and poor communities.

பேராக் மாநிலத்தில் தைப்பிங் மாவட்டத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள ஓர் இடைநிலைப்பள்ளியில் திருக்குறள் கற்றலின் வழி படிவம் 2 மாணவர்களின் உயர்நிலைச் சிந்தனைத் திறனை மேம்படுத்தும் முயற்சியில் ஆய்வு மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டது. தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட 10 மாணவர்கள் இந்த ஆய்வில் உட்படுத்தப்பட்டனர். திருக்குறளில் மாணவர்களின் ஆளுமையைக் கண்டறிய அந்த இடைநிலைப்பள்ளியின் தமிழாசிரியரிடம் நேர்காணல் நடத்தப்பட்டது. மாணவர்களின் உயர்நிலைச் சிந்தனைத் திறனை மேம்படுத்த படிவம் 1 மற்றும் படிவம் 2-இல் வரையறுக்கப்பட்ட ஆறு திருக்குறள்கள் தேர்தெடுக்கப்பட்டன. தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட திருக்குறள்கள் யாவும் சீரமைக்கப்பட்ட புளூமின் அறிவுசார் முறைப்பாட்டியலின் துணைக்கொண்டு பலதரப்பட கேள்விகள் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டது. ஆறு வாரத் திருக்குறள் வகுப்பிற்குப் பின் இக்கேள்விகள் யாவும் மாணவர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டன. கேள்விக்கான பதில்களிலிருந்து மாணவர்களின் உயர்நிலைச் சிந்தனைத் திறனில் ஏற்பட்ட மாற்றங்கள் கண்டறியப்பட்டது. ஆய்வின் முடிவாக, முறையான திருக்குறள் கற்றலின் வழி மாணவர்களின் உயர்நிலைச் சிந்தனைத் திறனை மேம்படுத்த முடியும் என்பது உறுதிச் செய்யப்பட்டது. (This study has been conducted with the purpose of improving the level of HOTS (Higher order thinking skills) of Form 2 students through learning Thirukkural. For this study, the Thirukkural, a well-known literary work of Tamil Language was taken. Thus, this research was carried out in a secondary school which is located at Taiping, Perak. The research was carried out under the design of action research. The sample of this study consisted of ten Form 2 students. Besides that, a teacher also interviewed in order to know the students' personality in learning Thirukkural. In this research, the learning process of Thirukkural approach was implemented for 6 weeks. There are 6 couplets of Thirukkural selected according to the syllabus of Form 1 and Form 2. This six couplets of Thirukkural used to test the level of HOTS. The questions were created based on Thirukkural, according to Revised Bloom's Taxonomy. The data of the study was collected through pre-test, the questions asked in Thirukkural classes and post-test via qualitative and quantitative data collection tools. The findings obtained through qualitative and quantitative data collections showed that the level of HOTS through learning Thirukkural among Form 2 students has improved.)
