An algorithm of alignment calibration for Ultra Short Baseline (USBL) navigation systems was presented in the companion work (Part I). In this part (Part II) of the paper, this algorithm is tested on the sea trial data collected from USBL line surveys. In particular, the solutions to two practical problems referred to as heading deviation and cross-track error in the USBL line survey are presented. A field experiment running eight line surveys was conducted to collect USBL positioning data. The numerical results for the sea trial data demonstrated that the proposed algorithm could robustly and effectively estimate the alignment errors. Comparisons of the experimental result with the analytical prediction of roll misalignment estimation in Part I is drawn, showing good agreement. The experimental results also show that an inappropriate estimation of roll alignment error will significantly degrade the quality of estimations of heading and pitch alignment errors.

Ultra Short Baseline (USBL) navigation systems are often faced with positioning errors arising from misalignments between sensors. This paper proposes a line survey method for USBL angular alignment calibration. In the scheme of USBL line survey, mathematical representations of positioning error arising from heading, pitch and roll misalignments are derived, respectively. The effect of each misalignment angle and how the differences can be used to calibrate each misalignment angle in turn are presented. An iterative algorithm that takes advantage of the geometry of position errors resulting from angular misalignments is developed for USBL calibration. Numerical simulations are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the USBL line survey approach. In addition, the effect of measurement error on the estimation of roll alignment error is evaluated and discussed.

Буксируемый подводный модуль (БПМ) эффективно используется для решения задач, связанных с координированием подводных объектов, местоположение которых подлежит уточнению в процессе их детальногообследования. При этом большое значение имеет точность определения координат самого буксируемогомодуля относительно судна-буксировщика. Использование гидроакустических навигационных средств, вчастности систем с ультракороткой базой (ГАНС УКБ), ограничено вследствие помех, влияющих на качествосигналов в приемной антенне. Альтернативой служит метод определения координат БПМ на основе данныхтраекторных измерений параметров буксируемой системы. К числу последних относятся расчетные значенияпараметров кабеля связи в установившихся режимах буксировки, значения путевой скорости и путевого углабуксировщика, а также измеренные значения длины кабеля, глубины погружения и курса БПМ. В работе дансравнительный анализ различных вариантов вычислительных алгоритмов, позволяющих получить оценки точности определения координат БПМ в различных режимах стационарной буксировки и при наличии сбоев вработе навигационных средств.The towed underwater module (TUM) is a useful toolfor solving problems of the positioning of the underwaterobjects, the location of which must be clarified during its detailedinspection. Herewith, the accuracy of the determinationof the coordinates of the towed module itself relative tothe towing vessel is essential for such kind of problems. Theuse of underwater acoustic navigation means, the systemswith ultra-short baseline (USBL) in particular, are limiteddue to interference affecting the quality of the signals on thereceiving antenna. As an alternative, the method is proposedfor TUM positioning based on trajectory measurements ofparameters of the towed system, which may include calculatedvalues of communication cable parameters in steadystatetowing modes, values of ground speed and towing angle,as well as measured cable length, immersion depth, andTUM heading. The paper provides a comparative analysisof various versions of computational algorithms, which allowobtaining estimates of the TUM positioning accuracy indifferent modes of stationary towing and in the presence offailures in navigation systems operation.

Machining is one of the major manufacturing processes that converts a raw work piece of arbitrary size into a finished product of definite shape of predetermined size by suitably controlling the relative motion between the tool and the work. Lately, machining process is shifting towards high speed machining (HSM) from conventional machining to improve and efficiently increase production, and towards dry machining from excessive coolant used wet machining to improve economy of production. And the tools used are mostly hardened alloys to facilitate HSM. The work piece materials are continually improving their properties by emergence and development of newer and high resistive super alloys (HRSA). In this paper an attempt has been made to validate an experimental result of cutting force obtained by performing HSM on an HRSA Inconel 718, by comparing it with the numerical result obtained by simulating the same setting using DEFORM 3D software. Based on the comparison it is found that the simulated results exhibit close proximity with the experimental results validating the experimental results and the effectiveness of the software.

Considering the problem of invalid data caused mismatch of wavenumber spectrum which contained in turbulence observation data, an algorithm of turbulent wavenumber spectrum matching based on SVM is proposed. Category labels are obtained from pre-processed raw data by cross validation algorithm, and then the optimum parameters of the classifier are got through SVM learning algorithm. Sea trial data validation results indicate that the algorithm has high matching accuracy, and provides a new way to calculate the turbulence wavenumber spectrum matching.

Abstract The establishment of international standards for 5-axis control machining centers has been supported by the high interest of each country. Internationally, various accuracy inspection methods have been proposed and widely discussed. Accuracy measuring devices for these purposes have also been proposed. In 2014, inspection methods for 5-axis machines were published in ISO 10791-6 and 10791-7. In this research, we propose a test method to process 9 square faces as a new accuracy evaluation method. We simulate the influence of assembly error by the proposed square 3 × 3 machining method on the machined surface. By processing 9 square faces with different tool angle on the same plane, it was possible to evaluate the influence of assembly errors in the 5-axis machining center on the machined surface. Nine surfaces machined by the square 3 × 3 processing method cause differences in surface height due to alignment errors. In addition, nine machined surfaces become all diagonal not parallelism. The alignment errors of the 5-axis machining center is identified by evaluating the orientation of the machined surfaces. Specifically, we propose a newly method to measure the height difference of nine surfaces. Then, the possibility of identifying the alignment error of the 5-axis machining center using the measurement results is shown.

Experimental and numerical investigations of the behavior of directly and indirectly loaded flanged reinforced concrete (RC) deep beams cast with self-compacted concrete (SCC) containing recycled concrete as coarse aggregate (RCA) were conducted in this research. Seventeen RC deep flanged beams were designed to fail in shear. These beams were divided into three groups: twelve indirectly loaded beams without shear reinforcement; three directly loaded beams without stirrups; and two indirectly loaded beams with vertical stirrups. These beams were also classified according to the RCA ratio and shear span-to-effective depth (a/d) ratio, which will be detailed later. The RCA ranged from 0% to 75%, while the a/d ratio was taken as 1.0, 1.35, and 1.7. Experimental results show that the use of RCA reduces the cracking and ultimate capacities, and this finding complies with the conclusions of several research studies in the literature as will be detailed later. It was observed that beams with higher RCA exhibited higher deflection, strain, and crack width. Furthermore, by increasing the a/d ratio, the ultimate load was decreased due to the lower contribution of arch action shear transfer in the beam. A web reinforcement spaced at 100 mm and 50 mm increases the ultimate load by 35% and 48%, respectively. Strut and tie model (STM) presented by the American Concrete Institute (ACI) 318-14 and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO LRFD 2012) was used to predict the ultimate shear capacity of the beams. STM predicted lower beam capacity than the experimental result. The ultimate strength calculated using ACI318-14 and AASHTO LRFD 2012 was on average 38% and 52% lower than the experimental data, respectively, which reflects the conservative nature of this approach. Finally, 3D finite element models were created to investigate the responses of the beams. The FE results showed very good agreement with the experimental data, where FE-predicted shear capacities were on average 9% higher than the experimental results.

Sandglass extrusion is an ultrafine grain size method. Due to the repetitive and multiple extrusions, large strain will be accumulated and ultafine grain size can be obtained. There are some factors that can affect the experimental result of sandglass extrusion. Among these factors, free space in mould cavity is very important, which can affect the forming of the fold during the extrusion. In this paper, the effects of free space in mould cavity on sandglass extrusion have been discussed and theory analysis and experimental results have been reported.
