ABSTRACTA unique approach to MOCVD of complex oxides enables deposition of a number of materials of technological importance through the use of liquid delivery of metalorganic precursors. Methodologies for control of composition and exploration of. process space are compared for two film systems, one in a relatively mature state of development ((Ba,Sr)Ti03), the other in an early state of development (Ni-ferrite). In both cases, composition was controlled by mixing metalorganic precursors dissolved in solvents using a liquid delivery system. Films with excellent crystalline quality were deposited in both cases. Polycrystalline BST films displayed properties suitable for DRAM applications: charge storage densities > 80 fF/μm2 and leakage current density < 10−8 A/cm2 for films as thin as 15 nm. Growth mechanisms and rates were determined for the single component oxides of the ferrite films. Epitaxial NiFe204 films were deposited on MgO single crystal substrates at 650°C; x-ray rocking curves yielded FWHM values of 0.046°, commensurate with the substrate.

The possibility of applying the spray drying method for the production of complex oxides powders with garnet structure is shown in paper. The processes occurring while heating of synthesized oxide-salt product, that lead to the formation of a material with a garnet structure were investigated by DTA, TGA, X-ray analysis. The possibility of producing single-phase structure of the garnet system (YxGd(3-x))3Al5O12 in wide range of compositions is demonstrated.

Abstract[Bi(btMe)(phen)Cl2] (btMe = dihydrobis(2-mercapto-4-methylthiazolyl)borate), a mixed-ligand bismuth complex, was prepared from BiCl3, phenanthroline and Na(btMe) and characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy as well as single-crystal X-ray diffraction. It possesses a BiS2N2Cl2 core with distorted octahedral environment constituted by two sulfur atoms of the dipodal boron-centered soft ligand (btMe)–, two nitrogen atoms of the phenanthroline ligand and two chloro ligands.

Abstract Tris-thiobenzoates, Arsenic, Antimony, Bismuth Tris-thiobenzoates of arsenic, antimony and bismuth, M(SOCR)3 have been obtained from their oxides and characterized. In the X-ray crystal structure determinations of these, the group 15 atom and the three covalently bonded sulfur atoms are found to constitute a trigonal pyramid, the central atoms lie at a C3 axis. In the bismuth complex the thiobenzoate ligand tends to chelate. However, three comparatively short intermolecular M···S interactions are significant features for these molecules resulting in stacking of trigonal prisms providing an essentially six coordinate environment around arsenic and antimony and a nine-coordinate one for bismuth. The structure of PhSb(SOCPh)2 can be considered

ABSTRACTThe displacive transformations in complex oxides of the type LaNb1-xVxO4 has been studied by x-ray diffraction and Raman scattering for 0 < x < 0.3. X-ray diffraction results indicate that the transformation from the tetragonal high temperature structure (C4h6) to the monoclinic low-temperature structure (C2h6) is higher than first order and that the transformation temperature Tc is depressed significantly by V substitution. Raman scattering results show that the force constant between the nearest (Nb, V)O4 tetrahedral units behave uniquely compared to others. It softens at Tc as a function of composition and it also softens as a function of temperature as Tc is approached from above.
