The mental changes in society, especially those related to career development, are one of the problems in facing agricultural tourism villages. Therefore, the da'wah approach must undergo change into transformative da'wah (which can be taken through counseling) including strengthening the character of the community, strengthening institutional management resources, and empowering based on local wisdom. Research Objectives 1) Irshad Da'wah with group counseling to farmer group members 2) Do tadbir da'wah approaches in the management of farmer groups? 3) approach tathwir da'wah based on the values of local cultural wisdom. Method: Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) which all stages are carried out in a participatory manner, namely the introduction of the area, assessment, planning, implementation, and the evaluation and reflection stages. The results showed: da'wah Irsyad namely strengthening the personality traits of members of farmer groups so that they can grow in their careers to become better at building agriculture tourism villages. 2) tadbir da'wah namely strengthening the transformation of institutional management directed at strengthening the management of farmer groups so that the institution is able to compete. 3) tathwir preaching is to strengthen the transformation of the values of local cultural wisdom so that people are not deprived of their cultural roots. Career development that pays attention to the character of the environment and local wisdom is very important and relevant to the theory of self-concept career development (self-concept theory of career development). Da'wah activities through group counseling are also very interesting and the problem is increasingly complex, because it requires interdisciplinary science and must collaborate with other scientists.

Given the importance of career discernment in emerging adulthood, we evaluated an understudied career development approach for higher education students. Specifically, we tested the relationship between spiritual discernment exercises and sense of purpose and calling through the indirect effects of self-concept clarity, career decision self-efficacy, and knowledge of occupational information. Participants ( N = 127) were randomly assigned to one of the three conditions and were surveyed at a 10-week interval. Results indicated significantly higher posttest scores for purpose ( B = .169, p = .026) and calling ( B = .134, p = .013) in the spiritual discernment condition compared to the general adjustment (i.e., control) and traditional career development conditions. Mediation analyses also revealed a significant indirect effect of self-concept clarity on sense of purpose ( B ab = .059, p = .033). These findings suggest that spiritual discernment practices can significantly enhance the effectiveness of career development interventions for discerning purpose and calling.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the antecedents of employees’ perceived employability based on both self-concept and human capital theory. The study tested the relationship between employees’ self-concepts and perceived employability by using organization-based self-esteem (OBSE) and role-breadth self-efficacy. This study also examined the interactive relationship between self-concepts and voluntary leaning behavior, which can be viewed as a means of enhancing human capital. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected from 301 employees of an organization in Korea. Findings – The results demonstrated that OBSE and its interaction with voluntary learning behavior were positively correlated with perceived employability. Research limitations/implications – The data were cross-sectional. Causal inferences should be made with caution. Originality/value – Unlike previous literature that has relied primarily on human capital theory, this study draws on self-concept theory to show that employee self-concept can be an antecedent of perceived employability. Furthermore, this study argues that employees’ perceived employability may be more fully understood through the lenses of both self-concept and human capital theories.

Self-concept theory was used as a theoretical basis to investigate the utility of social norms alcohol prevention programs for college athletes. The predictive relationship among alcohol use and athletic identity, competitiveness, drinking game participation, and level of sport participation was investigated. Drinking game participation was found to be a significant predictor of total weekly alcohol use above and beyond the other predictors. In addition, organized recreational sport participation was a significant predictor of total binge-drinking episodes. It was demonstrated that individuals not currently participating in sports with an athletic identity in the same range as current athletes consumed alcohol at similar rates to current athletes, thus supporting athletic identity as an alternative way of classifying athlete status when studying alcohol consumption patterns. These results highlight the importance of drinking game participation in the alcohol use of college athletes and the validity of applying self-concept theory to alcohol prevention programs.
