Well-being is an essential concept in a human’s life as it is an emotional state that significantly influences our lifestyle. This study aims to develop a Malaysian male well-being indicator using the intrapersonal communication perspective. In this study, a self assessment instrument was constructed based on the self-concept theory in order to understand the respondent's well-being. This study applied mixed-methodology. Qualitative approach was used to build the well-being dimension and indicator based on some previous studies, while the quantitative approach was done to determine which construct is considered valid to measure male well-being, and how reliable those constructs are. Data collection phase was run through an online cross-sectional survey by using Survey Monkey platform. A total of 290 respondents consisting of Malaysian men aged 18 years and above participated in this study. The EFA results showed that there were 33 items classified under six well-being main components with having an effective and excellent level of consistency effectiveness, where Cronbach's Alpha for these six components gives a value of more than .70. This study, in overall, found that the well-being indicator was represented by one item on self-assessment that measures well-being dimension. Through the findings obtained, this study is expected to open a wider space for the upcoming studies on male well-being in Malaysia. However, it is suggested that this study needs to be continued with confirmatory factor analysis to validate this well-being indicator as a valid instrument to measure male well-being in Malaysia. Keywords: Well-being, subjective well-being, intrapersonal communication, self-concept theory, self assessment.

Indigenous Public Administration (IPA) has attracted researchers' attention and awareness of the importance of developing contextual theory and practice of public administration, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. IPA emerges in many developing countries since the concept, theory and practice of Western Public Administration (WPA) have failed to respond to local issues, and therefore WPA practice is considered irrelevant. Basically, IPA is a constructed concept to fill a vacant space that unoccupied by Western Public Administration (WPA). This descriptive qualitative study aims to explain and criticize the theory and practice of IPA and WPA. The data were gathered from books, journals, institution reports, regulations and other relevant writings of organizations, professionals, and academicians. The technique of data analysis was based on a data analysis spiral. It reveals that IPA applies to countries such as Indonesia and China. In both countries, the practice of IPA helps to overcome public issues concerning social, economic, and political. It is expected that the findings of this study will pave the way for developing both concept and theory of IPA and responding to more complex society and government's demands and needs.

AbstractA transparent polarisation sensitive phase pattern makes a polarisation dependent transformation of quantum state of photons without absorbing them. Such an invisible pattern can be imaged with quantum entangled photons by making joint quantum measurements on photons. This paper shows a long path experiment to quantum image a transparent polarisation sensitive phase pattern with hyper-entangled photon pairs involving momentum and polarisation degrees of freedom. In the imaging configuration, a single photon interacts with the pattern while the other photon, which has never interacted with the pattern, is measured jointly in a chosen polarisation basis and in a quantum superposition basis of its position which is equivalent to measure its momentum. Individual photons of each hyper-entangled pair cannot provide a complete image information. The image is constructed by measuring the polarisation state and position of the interacting photon corresponding to a measurement outcome of the non-interacting photon. This paper presents a detailed concept, theory and free space long path experiments on quantum imaging of polarisation sensitive phase patterns.

So many cases of crime have occurred in the parking area. Because this causes many losses, ways are needed to avoid it happening again. One of the efforts that can be done in preventing the occurrence of crime in the parking area is by applying security aspects with the concept of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and applying safety aspects that examine security aspects in preventing crime in the environment of human activities in a design approach. Environmental and safety aspects. In this study, the method used is descriptive qualitative to obtain factual and systematic data. The data is processed using the AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) method with the help of software, namely Super Decision, to get the value of each CPTED component for motorcycle parking facilities. The value of the study of applying the CPTED concept theory for security and safety aspects in the Podomoro Mall motorcycle parking area shows that the elements of the CPTED concept and safety aspects in the motorcycle parking area have not been fully implemented. However, overall security and safety in this parking area are guaranteed because almost all the variables available at this location already meet existing standards. The riders feel safe and secure when they are in this parking area even though some aspects are not met. It could be improved would be much better. The results of this study are expected to be helpful in the field of architecture, especially in crime.

PurposeDrawing on self-concept theory, this study evaluates the mediating effects of employees' psychological states on the relationship between human resources (HR) practices and employee engagement.Design/methodology/approachThrough random sampling, 434 customer-contact frontline employees from five-star hotels in Malaysia participated in the cross-sectional survey.FindingsThe results produced by the Smart-PLS (partial least squares) indicate that HR practices positively and significantly influence employees' psychological states of safety, meaningfulness and availability. All these psychological states also exert positive influences on employee engagement (organisational and work engagement). Safety and availability mediate the links between HR practices and employee engagement, but not meaningfulness.Practical implicationsHR practices and employees' psychological states are necessary in ensuring positive employee outcomes and improving customer service provision.Originality/valueThe findings contribute to the further extension of self-concept theory and employee engagement by incorporating the mediating roles of employees' psychological states in the relationships between HR practices and employee engagement.

This research is motivated by students' chemical mastery in learning is still low, especially for abstract concept/theory material. This can be seen from students being less active and lacking memory in following the learning process.  In addition, schools only rely on textbooks that make students less interested in learning and there is no student workbook to support students' understanding. This research aimed at knowing the appropriateness of the instructional media design in the form of Probing-Prompting based student workbook on Periodic System of the Elements lesson.  It was administered at State Islamic Senior High School 1 Pekanbaru.  It was R&D (Research and Development) with 4-D model, and it was limited to 3 models—define, design, and development.  The subjects of this research were the experts of material, the experts of media, and the experts of language, Chemistry subject teachers, 10 students at the tenth grade of MIA 1.  The object was Probing-Prompting based student workbook on Periodic System of the Elements lesson.  The research findings showed that Probing-Prompting based student workbook was appropriate to be used and it was based on the results of validity and practicality levels.  The percentage of validity level obtained was 85.78% (very valid) and the practicality level was 85.33% (very practical).  Based on theses results, it could be identified that Probing-Prompting based student workbook could be tested further.

The article discusses the most important principles of theoretical work, the etymology of the origin of the concept “theory”, examines the relevance of theoretical and historical approaches, presents the main constructs of theoretical work: model, concept, method. Theory can act as a hermeneutical tool. It is argued that if a theory does not cause an ontological shock, then it is insufficient. The reflexivity of any theoretical work is emphasized.

Aim: This paper proposed a theoretical framework to fulfill the theoretical gap which will lead to an extended theory for conspicuous consumption. Methodology: The main theory considered for this study is social comparison theory which is the grounded theory of the concept of conspicuous consumption. Further, theoretical framework is entailed of 3 supporting theories. As explained below brand association variable is emerged from brand congruency theory. while Self-concept variable is emerged from self-concept theory. Whereas personal cultural orientation is based on the social identity theory. Conclusion: The researcher strongly argues that in order to do a thorough comparison and purchase, the consumer would look at overall spectrum i.e., brand image, self-image and social image where it will give him an overall evaluation for him to make a consumption behavior which may lead to conspicuous consumption.
