Penelitian yang berjudul Model Pendampingan Hukum Bagi Anak yang Berhadapan dengan Hukum di Kota Medan dan Kabupaten Deli Serdang didukung oleh DIKTI skim Penelitian Unggulan Perguruan Tinggi (PUPT). Pada tahun Pertama ini penelitian memiliki 3 tujuan, Pertama, menjelaskan situasi Pendampingan Hukum Bagi Anak yang berkonflik Hukum Di Kota Medan dan Deli Serdang sebelum penerapan UU No 11 Tahun 2012 Tentang SPPA. Kedua, menjelaskan situasi PendampinganHukum Bagi Anak Yang Berhadapan Dengan Hukum Di Kota Medan dan Deli Serdang setelah penerapan UU No 11 Tahun 2012 Tentang Sistem Peradilan Pidana Anak (SPPA). The study entitled Model of Legal Assistance for Children Against the Law in Medan City and Deli Serdang District, was supported by DIKTI in the Scheme of Higher Education Research (PUPT). In this first year, the research had 3 objectives. First, explaining the situation of Legal Assistance for Children in conflict with the Law in Medan City and Deli Serdang before the implementation of Act. No. 11 of 2012 concerning SPPA. Secondly, explaining the situation of Legal Assistance for Children Against Law in Medan City and Deli Serdang after the application of Act No. 11 of 2012 concerning the Child Criminal Justice System (SPPA). Using empirical normative research methods, this study collected related legal regulations, related cases, and in-depth interviews with 21 informants (15 women and 6 men) in Medan consisting of Law Enforcement Officials (APH) and Legal Aid Organizations (OBH). One important finding of this study was that, in 2016, the City of Medan Government had Cluster Diversion and Restorative Justice based on Mayor's Decree No. 463 / 384.K / III / 2016. This existence is an answer to the presence of Act No. 11 of 2012 concerning SPPA, which is the diversion implementation with a Restorative Justice Approach. Based on the research's temporary findings, the presence of this Task Force certainly had challenges that were directly proportional to the expectations of its existence. Some of the challenges of this Task Force were firstthe level of understanding of APH about Diversion and Restorative Justice. The results showed that 90.48% of APH understood about diversion but only 23.81% of APHs knew of Restorative Justice. Second, the level of experience of APBH; Only 28.57% of APH stated that they had been involved in applying the diversion. Based on the temporary results of the research, the researcher expected that the central and regional governments, especially the city of Medan, could formulate and carry out socialization programs related to diversion and Restorative Justice, so that the protection for children in conflict with law could be fulfilled in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Purpose The study sets out to investigate inter- and intraspeaker variation in German infant-directed speech (IDS) and considers the potential impact that the factors gender, parental involvement, and speech material (read vs. spontaneous speech) may have. In addition, we analyze data from 3 time points prior to and after the birth of the child to examine potential changes in the features of IDS and, particularly also, of adult-directed speech (ADS). Here, the gender identity of a speaker is considered as an additional factor. Method IDS and ADS data from 34 participants (15 mothers, 19 fathers) is gathered by means of a reading and a picture description task. For IDS, 2 recordings were made when the baby was approximately 6 and 9 months old, respectively. For ADS, an additional recording was made before the baby was born. Phonetic analyses comprise mean fundamental frequency (f0), variation in f0, the 1st 2 formants measured in /i: ɛ a u:/, and the vowel space size. Moreover, social and behavioral data were gathered regarding parental involvement and gender identity. Results German IDS is characterized by an increase in mean f0, a larger variation in f0, vowel- and formant-specific differences, and a larger acoustic vowel space. No effect of gender or parental involvement was found. Also, the phonetic features of IDS were found in both spontaneous and read speech. Regarding ADS, changes in vowel space size in some of the fathers and in mean f0 in mothers were found. Conclusion Phonetic features of German IDS are robust with respect to the factors gender, parental involvement, speech material (read vs. spontaneous speech), and time. Some phonetic features of ADS changed within the child's first year depending on gender and parental involvement/gender identity. Thus, further research on IDS needs to address also potential changes in ADS.

This article describes how a telepractice pilot project was used as a vehicle to train first-year graduate clinicians in speech-language pathology. To date, six graduate clinicians have been trained in the delivery of telepractice at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Components of telepractice training are described and the benefits and limitations of telepractice as part of clinical practicum are discussed. In addition, aspects of training support personnel involved in telepractice are outlined.

Abstract Research exists that evaluates the mechanics of swallowing respiratory coordination in healthy children and adults as well and individuals with swallowing impairment. The research program summarized in this article represents a systematic examination of swallowing respiratory coordination across the lifespan as a means of behaviorally investigating mechanisms of cortical modulation. Using time-locked recordings of submental surface electromyography, nasal airflow, and thyroid acoustics, three conditions of swallowing were evaluated in 20 adults in a single session and 10 infants in 10 sessions across the first year of life. The three swallowing conditions were selected to represent a continuum of volitional through nonvolitional swallowing control on the basis of a decreasing level of cortical activation. Our primary finding is that, across the lifespan, brainstem control strongly dictates the duration of swallowing apnea and is heavily involved in organizing the integration of swallowing and respiration, even in very early infancy. However, there is evidence that cortical modulation increases across the first 12 months of life to approximate more adult-like patterns of behavior. This modulation influences primarily conditions of volitional swallowing; sleep and naïve swallows appear to not be easily adapted by cortical regulation. Thus, it is attention, not arousal that engages cortical mechanisms.
