This study describes the design of a real-time interactive multimedia teleradiology system and assesses how the system is used by referring physicians in point-of-care situations and supports or hinders aspects of physician-radiologist interaction. We developed a real-time multimedia teleradiology management system that automates the transfer of images and radiologists’ reports and surveyed physicians to triangulate the findings and to verify the realism and results of the experiment. The web-based survey was delivered to 150 physicians from a range of specialties. The survey was completed by 72% of physicians. Data showed a correlation between rich interactivity, satisfaction, and effectiveness. The results of our experiments suggest that real-time multimedia teleradiology systems are valued by referring physicians and may have the potential for enhancing their practice and improving patient care and highlight the critical role of multimedia technologies to provide real-time multimode interactivity in current medical care.

A set of roller real-time detecting system is developed based on the platform of LabVIEW. In this system, GPS plays an important role of positioning the rollers track, time, speed as well as compaction times. With the friendly development environment of LabVIEW, GPS signals are collected, extracted, analyzed and processed to realizing real-time detecting. And the reliability and practicability of the detecting system program is confirmed by trail. With this great progress, a set of rollers real-time monitoring system can be easily formed, which is of great significance for scientists to further replace the traditional detecting test.

Objective. Accumulating evidence suggests the critical role of autophagy in the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy (DR). In the current study, we aim to identify autophagy genes involved in DR via microarray analyses. Methods. Gene microarrays were performed to identify differentially expressed lncRNAs/mRNAs between normal and DR retinas. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses of lncRNA-coexpressed mRNAs were used to determine the related pathological pathways and biological modules. Real-time polymerase chain reactions (PCR) were conducted to validate the microarray analyses. Results. A total of 2474 significantly dysregulated lncRNAs and 959 differentially expressed mRNAs were identified in the retina of DR. Based upon Signalnet analysis, Bcl2, Gabarapl2, Atg4c, and Atg16L1 participated the process of cell death in DR. Moreover, real-time PCR revealed significant upregulation of Atg16L1. Conclusion. This study indicated the importance and potential role of Atg16L1, one of the autophagy genes, as a biomarker in DR development and progression.

ABSTRACTIt remains unclear how and to what extent non-human animals make demanding on-the-fly predictions during pursuit. We studied this problem in a novel laboratory pursuit task that incentivizes prediction of future prey positions. We trained three macaques to perform joystick-controlled pursuit of prey that followed intelligent escape algorithms. Subjects reliably aimed towards the prey’s likely future positions, indicating that they generate internal predictions and use those predictions to guide behavior. We then developed a generative model that explains real-time pursuit trajectories and showed that our subjects use prey position, velocity, and acceleration to make predictions. We identified neurons in the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC) whose responses track these three variables. These neurons multiplexed prediction-related variables with a distinct and explicit representation of the prey’s future position. Our results provide a clear demonstration that the brain can explicitly represent future predictions and highlight the critical role of anterior cingulate cortex for future-oriented cognition.One-sentence summaryIn a dynamic pursuit environment, monkeys actively predict future prey positions and dACC neurons encode these future positions.

Background: Entrustment decisions may be retrospective (based on past experiences with a trainee) or real-time (based on direct observation). We investigated judgments of entrustment based on assessor prior knowledge of candidates and based on systematic direct observation, conducted in an objective structured clinical exam (OSCE). Methods: Sixteen faculty examiners provided 287 retrospective and real-time entrustment ratings of 16 cardiology trainees during OSCE stations in 2019 and 2020. Reliability and validity of these ratings were assessed by comparing correlations across stations as a measure of reliability, differences across postgraduate years as an index of construct validity, correlation to standardized in-training exam (ITE) as a measure of criterion validity, and reclassification of entrustment as a measure of consequential validity. Results: Both retrospective and real-time assessments were highly reliable (all intra-class correlations >0.86). Both increased with year of postgraduate training. Real-time entrustment ratings were significantly correlated with standardized ITE scores; retrospective ratings were not. Real-time ratings explained 37% (2019) and 46% (2020) of variance in examination scores vs. 21% (2019) and 7% (2020) for retrospective ratings. Direct observation resulted in a different level of entrustment compared with retrospective ratings in 44% of cases (p = <0.001). Conclusions: Ratings based on direct observation made unique contributions to entrustment decisions.

Background: Human Papilloma virus (HPV) have a critical role in cervical cancer especially type 16 and 18 and great efforts were done to determine the role of HPV in cervical cancer. Objective: The objective of this work is evaluation of the prevalence of cervical cancer and determination of the role of HPV in cervical cancer, in Minia Governorate. Methodology: Colposcopic-directed biopsy was done for one hundred females by colposcopist. One hundred women were included in this study for detection of HPV infection by histopathology, real time PCR and sequencing. One hundred biopsies were subjected to analysis for detection of HPV types 16 and 18 by histopathology, real time PCR and sequencing. Results and conclusion: Our histopathological results revealed that 15% of samples were positive for HPV and by HPV DNA real time PCR, 14% were positive. Our study reported that the infection was single in 9% and mixed in 5% and HPV type 16 was higher than type 18. The age range across the sample was 18–55 years with a median age of 35 years. The women patients with subtype 18 had the highest median age. Contraceptive usage had a statistically significant difference especially using OC.
