The integration of Ukraine into the world community has caused a significant increase in interest in learning foreign languages as a means of information exchange. The modern conditions of development, expansion and deepening of international contacts require a high level of foreign language proficiency from a future specialist, especially in a foreign language of professional direction. High demands to the quality of education provision for the informatization of society. The high level of proficiency in a foreign language of a professional direction allows the future specialist to compete adequately not only in the domestic labor market but also abroad. It is promoted by the informatization of the educational process. It determined the relevance of the research problem. The study aims to establish the effectiveness of informatization of the foreign languages learning process of professional communication; to bring the feasibility of using social networks, cloud messengers, educational platforms in preparing future specialists for professional communication in a foreign language environment. The research methodology uses several methods. The main method in the study is the method of pedagogical experiment, also used the method of questioning, observation, to consider the theoretical material uses descriptive method, as well as methods of synthesis and analysis. The main hypothesis of the study is that the application of the educational potential of social networks, platforms, messengers, quizzes is an effective method of training a specialist with a high level of foreign language proficiency in the professional sphere. The result of the study is to determine the effectiveness of the use of the informatization process at the level of involvement of social networks, messengers to form a high level of foreign language proficiency as per profession. In the future, it is envisaged to study the application of informatization of the educational space during the teaching of a foreign language of professional communication.

Under consideration are main methods and approaches to teaching foreign languages, the main element of which is music and songs. The latest research and scientific publications on the use of musical material in teaching various aspects of foreign languages – grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, writing – have been analyzed. The main ideas and stages of introducing musical methods in the educational process have been described. The role of musical material in teaching foreign languages has been determined. The paper highlights basic skills of foreign language proficiency which can be improved by means of music methods and approaches. There have been indicated advantages of each of the presented methods. The effectiveness of the use of music and songs in teaching foreign languages has been proved.

In the article the features of the assessment in differentiated instruction of English professional communication to the future IT specialists with different levels of foreign language proficiency and various learning styles are considered. Types and forms of control in differentiated instruction are characterized. Receptive, reproductive and productive ways of control are highlighted. The described two-stage model of assessment with partial involvement of adaptive testing includes: enter testing, which allows teachers differentiate students according to the levels of foreign language proficiency and learning styles; progressive adaptive testing, which is implemented in the zone of proximal development, helps to identify individual and group achievement points and needs to optimize test materials to meet students’ current needs; the final testing, which defines the level of foreign language proficiency at the end of the course. It is proposed to implement progressive adaptive testing by using mechanisms of adaptation, expansion and complication, improvement. Adaptive mechanism involves the effect of adapting to individual characteristics, based on the level of foreign language proficiency in the enter testing and a dominant learning style. The mechanism of expansion and complication aims at shifting the emphasis in the learning style of the students (not dominant learning styles), increasing the complexity of tasks for students providing them by various supports. The mechanism of improvement is focused on variations of learning styles, the development of English-language skills, as well as the wide usage of assessment strategies. The criteria for the complexity of the test task are analysed.

The article deals with the problem of improving the quality of training future navigators according to the strategic goals of the modernization of the educational process in Ukraine’s marine higher educational institutions, based on the humanistic paradigm, which requires special attention to the formation of future navigators’ communicative self-efficiency. The study of this problem is of particular relevance, since it is one of the main professional characteristics for representatives of the senior command navigators that enables them to carry out professional activities productively, adequately and at a high level: to organize the coordinated work of the crew, especially consisting of specialists of different nationalities, religious denominations, mentalities; competently and skilfully communicate with seaport employees, representatives of foreign companies, etc. The paper presents the conceptual provisions of A. Bandura, the founder of the theory of self-efficiency, its role and importance in person’s life as well as those of J. Caprari and D. Servon, D. Matsumoto (communication), educators (self-efficiency), (communicative self-efficiency) in the context of importance and the need to develop and form these phenomena for improving the quality of the training aimed at future navigators in higher education institutions of maritime profile. The phenomenon “communicative self-efficiency of the future navigators” has been defined; its essence and structure have been considered, the latter consisting of three components: reflexive (self-identification with navigators as model professionals, the presence of adequate self-assessment of their own actions in the field of professional communication, a stable reflexive position), cognitive-operational (awareness of the communicative sphere of maritime professional activity, skills, professional communication abilities); affective-behavioural (confidence in the possibility of productive communication in professional activities, emotionality, activity, responsibility, ability to self-regulate and self-sustain). The forms and methods for the formation of communicative self-efficiency of cadets of marine universities involved into the experiment have been presented: reflective workshop, keeping a reflective diary, which gave the cadet the opportunity to conduct self-analysis of their own professional actions and enhance self-understanding regarding the presence of the necessary professional personal qualities for performing their future professional activities effectively and building a positive Self-concept of the future navigator; the organizing dialogue “The role of the reflective component in developing future navigators’ communicative self-efficiency”, the technology “Developing confidence in self-efficiency and productive communication of future navigators in their future independent professional activities”, the training module “Communication skills”, etc. Keywords: communication, self-efficiency, communicative self-efficiency, future navigator, marine higher educational institution.

Inadequate research attention has been paid to the learning of a third language. For this reason, this study explores senior English major students’ learning of additional foreign languages in seven universities in Shaanxi Province, China. The study examines the relationship between the participants’ motivation and language proficiency through a questionnaire, and the collected data are analyzed using hierarchical linear regression analysis. The results identify that the participants’ instrumental and integrative motivations positively influence their second foreign language proficiency. Further analysis reveals that the connection between the participants’ motivation and language proficiency is mediated by foreign language enjoyment. These findings form the basis of our suggestions for the sustainable learning and teaching of foreign languages in universities.

The article reveals the problems that appear in linguistics of the 21st century, in particular, in terminology in direction of forming foreign language competent specialists. The works focus on the issue of the modern state of Ukrainian terminology in the mining industry. In the study, it is analysed the original material, it is monitored the present thesauruses of the mining industry of different types as well as translated ones. The authors present in brief the short description of the basic achievement of Ukrainian terminography in the mining industry starting with the middle of the 19th century till the present.The scientists have clearly stated the dependence of the development of terminography in the field of Ukrainian mining on the lingual and extra-lingual factors. Particular attention is paid to the problem of the absence of mining dictionaries (both monolingual and multilingual) in modern linguistics, which undoubtedly negatively affects the process of formation of foreign language communicative competence of the specialists of the future mining industry. The relevance of the article isdue to the urgent need to provide students of institutions of higher education with new innovative technologies for the formation of foreign language communicative competence and the search for modern approaches during the educational process in the educational institutions of both mining and humanities profiles. After all, the 21st century requires specialists in any field of human activities (as well as the mining one) to expand opportunities for intercultural communication, to deepen their knowledge of achievements in a particular field (including the mining one) by means of language communication, etc. All this becomes possible only under the condition of the formation of the number of competences, in particular, communicative. Creating and developing the e-dictionarywill enable free communication between representatives of different countries for the purpose of taking on the experience gained during the professional activity, as well as in the field of the mining industry, and will be worth representing the achievements of the domestic industry at the world stage. The high level of foreign language proficiency of graduates of Ukrainian universities will contribute to affirming the positive educational and scientific image of our country.

Motivation is a major factor in activity, including cognitive one. Pedagogical and psychological factors stimulate cognitive interest, cognitive and educational activity. Activating the cognitive interests of students to study foreign languages becomes successful due to the correspondence of the content of educational material organization, ways and methods of teaching, the provision of personal meaning educational material, the establishment of subject-subject relations in the educational process, the use of psychological and pedagogical methods of stimulation by the teacher of students’ cognitive interest and cognitive activity. The future professionals (students) successful training of foreign language, professionally oriented communication is impossible without defining a single concept that is the training clear strategy and tactics.Formation of foreign-language professional-oriented competence is possible through that modeling in the educational process typical situations of real professional communication that arise in different spheres of life and relate to different topics.The communicative activity of students during the training of professionally oriented communication in a foreign language is a system consisting of organizational and motivational, informational and procedural and criterion-effective components that derive from the social nature of human activity and create the best conditions for the improvement of the entire system of student communicative activities in relation to formation of foreign professional competence.

The research is devoted to the experimental verification of the effectiveness of multimedia language laboratories in foreign language learning (on the example of the specialty «Translation»). The study represents the capabilities of multimedia language laboratories in the foreign language learning and the advantages and disadvantages of their use. The article discusses the concepts of “multimedia technologies” as digital delivery of content using more than one medium which influences several perception channels of information, and “multimedia linguistic laboratories” as computer classrooms equipped with E-Presenter, multimedia projector, interactive whiteboard and peripheral equipment. Multimedia presentations, electronic studies manuals and Internet access are used to provide the future interpreters with necessary knowledge for doing translation. Modern multifunctional computer software gives the future interpreters the opportunity to form the competence in listening. The use of Skype and Viber helps to develop communicative skills providing communication and cultural interaction with native speakers. MLL’s software and hardware complex provides teachers with a powerful toolkit that helps to create, edit and save tests, conduct tests and collect results, quickly assess and comment on the answers. The statistical calculations confirmed that the implementation of multimedia technology in the educational process, the correct and systematic use of MLL in the foreign language learning, can not only diversify learning process, but also help the future interpreters to achieve a high level of the foreign language competence. The use of MLL revealed a number of methodological advantages over traditional ways of teaching. The authors see the prospects for further research in the creation of appropriate pedagogical conditions for implementing information and communication technologies in the process of training future interpreters.

Finding a good job, making an academic career and advancing in a profession requires a high level of foreign language proficiency whose evidence is provided through proficiency exams. In Turkey’s case, proficiency exams in various languages are designed, administered and graded under the name of foreign language proficiency exam (YDS) by the Measuring, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). It's one of the important exam which is broadly accepted in relation to the business life, academic carier and for language proficiency. For graduates of German Language and Literature departments, this exam is also highly crucial and can only be passed with great effort and hard work. This study aims to evaluate the graduates who failed in this exam, and who became successful in such a difficult situation. To this end, opinions and suggestions of 40 participants, who are graduates of Akdeniz University German Language and Litarature, about YDS were taken with the questionnaire and the complications encountered along passing the exam were tried to be determined in many aspects, the reason for failiure and thing to be done for success were investigated. Data were analyzed through employing the frequency analysis, means scores, the correlation analysis, Cramer’s V and discourse analysis. Results were presented and discussed in the findings section. In the last section, implications and suggestions for success in short time and easily in YDS were presented. Findings presented contain useful information in revising the curriculums and their contents. In addition, the study will ease and shed light on preparation process of German Language and Literature, German Teaching and German Translation and Interpretation students for YDS. The article defined the role of Foresight-studies in the current conditions of higher education system development. Different types of Foresight-studies in different countries and their application for educational purposes are analyzed. Methods of conducting foresight research are revealed on the basis of which the most common among them are: Delphi method, SWOT analysis, Information flow analysis, Focus Group Technique, Expert Panels, Scenario Planning, Highlight Key Technologies, Technology Mapping, Development of Roadmaps, Source Scanning, “Analysis of Global Trends”, “PEST Analysis”, “Reverse Scenarios” etc. It is stated that the foresight can be called a technology of constructive attitude towards the future. It involves the development of a system of private forecasts in the most important areas of scientific and technological progress and a comprehensive forecast of scientific and technological development. The article gives examples of university Foresight-studies and their role in forming a modern specialist with forecasting skills. The focus of the study is pay special attention on the Foresight-study conducted at the School of Foreign Languages of V. N. Kharkiv National University entitled “Strategy for the Development of Education at The School of Foreign Languages”. The study was carried out using the Delphi method and included an online survey (digital questionnaire) created in Google forms and included two stages. The first stage was aimed at revealing the general direction of the development of the educational process, and the second stage was aimed at specifying teaching strategies that could be used in the future by the School of Foreign Languages. The survey was attended by 105 people who work or study at the university. It is established that the priority directions of development of educational process at the School of Foreign Languages may be: introduction of the latest digital technologies into the educational process; increase of teaching efficiency and distribution of time between participants of educational process (transformation of the role of the lecturer); communicative aspect through improvement of teaching methods at the School of Foreign Languages, namely the involvement of foreign language speakers in teaching and practice, conducting more foreign language activities, changing the criteria for assessing students’ success by foreign models.

This article examines the efficacy of pedagogical stylistics as a learning tool for developing second or foreign language proficiency. Pedagogical stylistics – an instrument for investigating the linguistic, sociocultural and dialogic features inherent in literary and non-literary texts – has often been criticized for relying too heavily on intuition rather than empirical support to substantiate its employment in language learning classrooms. To better understand this criticism a coding framework adapted from previous research was employed to synthesize 13 studies across four, second or foreign languages in nine countries. Three themes emerged from this synthesis: (1) stylistics as a tool for improving L2 performance; (2) stylistics’ contribution to building language awareness; (3) stylistics as a tool for building academic skills beyond L2 acquisition. This work explores these themes and discusses the research practices informing the claims made therein, highlighting a consistent underreporting or under collecting of data as a recurring problem in the literature. This shortcoming precludes a meta-analysis of the literature, and this article argues that this shortcoming contributes to a justifiably weak representation of stylistics in second or foreign language contexts. To rectify this issue suggestions are made for more thorough reporting of data and a more robust research agenda in second or foreign language-based, stylistic contexts.
