Aviation cable is used to transmit electric energy and signal, and its performance directly affects the safety of aircraft. It is difficult to locate cable faults on aircraft and there is a lack of suitable high-precision detection equipment. Based on the Time-Domain Reflectometry Technology (TDR), combining with the embedded systems such as Raspberry Pi and FPGA, an aviation cable fault detector is designed. Firstly, based on the frequency-doubling clock generated by the PLL, the detector emits a low-voltage pulse whose width is smaller than the cycle of the source clock. Then, based on the multiple ADC sampling method, the detector samples the reflected pulse. Finally, the detector uses the intelligent algorithm to automatically determine the fault type and fault location, and displays the sampling waveform and detection results on the LCD screen. Through experimental verification, the detector can basically meet the requirements of aviation cable fault detection.

Abstract The visual nature of Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) makes it a very natural technology that can assist with fault location in BGA packages, which typically have complex interweaving layouts that make standard failure analysis techniques, such as acoustic imaging and X-ray, less effective and more difficult to utilize. This article discusses the use of TDR for package failure analysis work. It analyzes in detail the TDR impedance deconvolution algorithm as applicable to electronic packaging fault location work, focusing on the opportunities that impedance deconvolution and the resulting true impedance profile opens up for such work. The article examines the TDR measurement accuracy and the comparative package failure analysis, and presents three main considerations for package failure analysis. It also touches upon the goal and the task of the failure analysts and TDR's specific signatures for the open and short connections.

This paper presents a comparative study on mother wavelets using a fault type classification algorithm in a power system. The study aims to evaluate the performance of the protection algorithm by implementing different mother wavelets for signal analysis and determines a suitable mother wavelet for power system protection applications. The factors that influence the fault signal, such as the fault location, fault type, and inception angle, have been considered during testing. The algorithm operates by applying the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) to the three-phase current and zero-sequence signal obtained from the experimental setup. The DWT extracts high-frequency components from the signals during both the normal and fault states. The coefficients at scales 1–3 have been decomposed using different mother wavelets, such as Daubechies (db), symlets (sym), biorthogonal (bior), and Coiflets (coif). The results reveal different coefficient values for the different mother wavelets even though the behaviors are similar. The coefficient for any mother wavelet has the same behavior but does not have the same value. Therefore, this finding has shown that the mother wavelet has a significant impact on the accuracy of the fault classification algorithm.

The determination of volumetric water content of soils is an important factor in irrigation management. Among the indirect methods for estimating, the time-domain reflectometry (TDR) technique has received a significant attention. Like any other technique, it has advantages and disadvantages, but its greatest disadvantage is the need of calibration and high cost of acquisition. The main goal of this study was to establish a calibration model for the TDR equipment, Trase System Model 6050X1, to estimate the volumetric water content in a Distroferric Red Latosol. The calibration was carried out in a laboratory with disturbed soil samples under study, packed in PVC columns of a volume of 0.0078m³. The TDR probes were handcrafted with three rods and 0.20m long. They were vertically installed in soil columns, with a total of five probes per column and sixteen columns. The weightings were carried out in a digital scale, while daily readings of dielectric constant were obtained in TDR equipment. The linear model θν = 0.0103 Ka + 0.1900 to estimate the studied volumetric water content showed an excellent coefficient of determination (0.93), enabling the use of probes in indirect estimation of soil moisture.

UNITERMOS: TDR, conteúdo de água, bulbo molhado  LOPES, L. N.; MARTINS, E.; SANTORO, B. L.; SOUZA, C. F.WATER DISTRIBUTION CHARACTERIZATION IN SOIL FOR DRIP IRRIGATION   2 ABSTRACT Knowledge of water distribution in soil is of great importance to agriculture, since water is one of the factors that most influence the yield of crops. There are many techniques used to monitor soil water content. The time domain reflectometry (TDR) has been widespread among researchers because it presents several advantages, among which the determination in real time and possibility of automated readings. The main goal of this research was to evaluatethe water distribution in a profile of Red-Yellow Oxisol. Time domain reflectometry (TDR) probes were used to monitor the water distribution from drippers discharging at constant flow rates of 2, 4 and 8 Lh-1 in soil. Considering results from different profiles, we observed greater water storage near the dripper decreasing gradually towards the wetting front. About one third of the applied water (33%) was stored in the first layer (0-0.10 m) for all experiments. Comparing different dripper flow rates, we observed higher water storage for 8 L h-1, with 30, 33 and 34% of applied water accumulating in the first layer (0-0.10m) for dripper flow rates of 2, 4 and 8 L h-1, respectively. The results suggest that based on the volume and frequency used in this experiment, it would be advantageous to apply small amounts of water at more frequent intervals to reduce deep percolation losses of applied water. KEYWORDS: TDR, water content, wetted soil volume

Analysis has been performed of the operation of electric distribution networks of ten branches of Oblkommunenergo (OKE) of Irkutsk Region [1]. Based on the data on the operation of these networks published in public media, algorithms and computer programs for the Matlab graphic editor are compiled, which are used for plotting time diagrams that characterize the operation of the electrical networks under consideration. The balance changes are shown in the transmission of electric energy into the OKE networks and from the OKE networks directly to consumers (high, medium and low voltage networks). The number of failures, the power supply interruption time and the amount of electricity undersupplied in each month of the year for each of the branches are considered. The months of the year are determined, in which the greatest and least damage occurs to the electrical networks of the OKE branches. Data are presented on the dynamics of annual wear of electric networks, planned activities and their annual implementation. The level of reliability is considered according to the established indicators of the average duration of interruptions in the transmission of electric energy in each calculated regulation period. It is shown that the combination of the main causes of failures largely depends on the natural-climatic and terrain specifics of the regions through which the routes of electric networks pass. As an example, data on the causes of failure in the electrical networks of one of the OKE branches are considered. The most and least damaged electrical networks of the considered OKE branches have been established. In conclusion, findings are formulated and recommendations are presented on minimizing outages based on the main types of failure causes for the purpose of increasing the operational reliability of the electrical networks under consideration.
