A teacher, who has a major role in the formation of class culture, needs to have proficiencies to design effective learning environments. The reflection of these proficiencies on classroom practices takes place via the decisions taken under critical situations. This study aims to find out the components underlying teachers’ decision-making. Participants of the study which was designed as a case study were elementary school mathematics teachers. The study was carried out through the individual interviews with participants about the decision making under critical situations after analysing participant teachers’ course observations which were video-recorded by the researchers. Data obtained from the interviews were analysed through content-analysis method. Based on the findings, it was found that teachers’ professional proficiencies could be presented in the same frame with the variables reflected on decision making.

This research attempts to adopt the individual motivation behind the decision in purchasing an idol merchandise. In addition the resources focused on the concept of consumer motivation and the consumer decision making process. The concept of motivation includes sources of motivation, divided into motivational intrinsic and motivation extrinsic. While the consumer decision-making process is divided into five steps which are recognized the need, looking for information, evaluation of decision, buying decision, and the consumer behavior after purchasing. The researcher uses a case study of the shirt Uniqlo X BT21 with qualitative method. The results of the research which is the consumer motivation lead to purchasing a Uniqlo X BT21 shirt. Parasocial interaction in fact can influence consumers to purchase merchandise. The more closely the relation between society can lead to higher motivation to purchase the needs. The collaboration between Uniqlo and BTS succeeds in attracting the fans. The results of collaboration between brand and public figures now is a strategy for creating promotional products. Entrepreneurs, who also use this strategy need to see the opportunity by using this phenomenon. Penelitian ini mengangkat tentang motivasi individu dalam keputusan pembelian merchandise idola. Konsep yang digunakan yaitu motivasi dan keputusan pembelian. Konsep motivasi meliputi sumber motivasi, yaitu melalui motivasi intrinsik dan motivasi ekstrinsik. Sedangkan untuk keputusan pembelian melalui lima tahapan yaitu, mengenali kebutuhan, pencarian informasi, evaluasi alternatif, keputusan pembelian dan perilaku pasca pembelian. Penelitian ini menggunakan studi kasus terhadap kaos Uniqlo X BT21 dengan metodologi kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu motivasi yang menyebabkan pembelian kaos Uniqlo X BT21. Interaksi parasosial terbukti mampu untuk mempengaruhi pembelian merchandise. Semakin lekat sebuah hubungan parasosial, maka akan semakin tinggi motivasi minat beli. Kolaborasi yang diadakan Uniqlo dengan BTS dapat dikatakan berhasil menarik minat penggemar. Sehingga kolaborasi merek dan public figure kini merupakan sebuah strategi yang dapat dilakukan untuk mempromosikan produk. Pebisnis perlu melihat peluang yang hadir dalam fenomena tersebut.

The current context reflects education as a profound social act, through which the individual discovers his own personality, he manifests his social aspirations and ideals, tangling and determining the evolution of social events. More and more young people face major challenges in terms of skills in a permanently changing world. The skills gap is growing between developing countries and developed countries and there will be major social, economic and political repercussions. This article focuses on identifying the role that school resources has on the educational performance of pupils in the digital era. For collecting the data, a direct survey was used as a method of collecting information, based on a questionnaire of 374 pupils from high schools in Dambovita County, Romania. While the future is always uncertain, education systems should be based on the design of innovative, effective learning environments, encouraging well-organized cooperative learning where learners actively engage and develop a good understanding of their own learning practices, focusing on student motivation and differentiation according to previous knowledge.

Abstract Introduction Ambulatory emergency care (AEC) provides hospital-equivalent medical care in out-of-hospital settings for acutely unwell complex older patients. This ethnography aimed to understand the cognitive work of the senior clinicians in the AEC environment. Methods Three AEC sites were purposively sampled to recruit twelve clinicians with backgrounds in Geriatrics, General Practice, Emergency and Acute Medicine. This qualitative investigation used focused ethnography within a case study approach to understand the decision-making processes in the context of the AEC environment. Participant-observation during an AEC shift was complemented by informant interviews. A framework approach to thematic analysis used a priori and data derived codes to develop explanatory themes. Ethnographic principles of constant comparison and cognitive task analysis were used to evaluate the clinicians’ decision-making processes for index patient cases. Results This ethnographic case study showed that AEC clinicians tailored their management plans to the individual patient based on their clinical assessment and needs, using creative problem solving and reflexivity. The AEC clinicians personalised their interventions based on the patient assessment, the patients’ wishes and disease severity. The individual tailoring of the AEC plan was negotiated with the patient, their next-of-kin and the multidisciplinary team (MDT). The discussions with patient and families allowed discussion of the differing priorities and facilitated compromise. AEC plans were also negotiated with the MDT to build a shared understanding of the patients’ needs. The MDT also provided cognitive and emotional support by challenging and validating the senior decision-makers clinical plans. Conclusion This tailored approach allowed the flexible delivery of AEC to meet the patients’ needs. It is hoped that by characterising the work of AEC clinician that this study will aid the development of medical training curricula, interdisciplinary working and health service design. Further research is needed on team-based decision-making for individually tailored care in urgent care settings.

The change in the trend of transportation, increasing per capita income, expectation of better lifestyle, easy finance, and reduced cost of the automobile are some of the main factors that enable a commoner to have his/her own car. Therefore, it is essential to comprise such features in cars that offer qualities enabling the ease of consumer’s decision-making and comfort to purchase a car individually. Purchasing a car is a complicated multi-criteria decision-making problem as an individual may have different preferences for different criteria attributes. The attributes may be conflicting in nature depending on the need of the individual customer. Generally, it becomes quite difficult to assign ratings to these attributes based on numeric values. Therefore, the decision-making process relies on an idiosyncratic finding of the decision-makers which is in practice fuzzy with uncertainities. Hence, this article is a case study that deals with a hierarchy MCDM approach in accordance with the fuzzy logic and VIKOR method to solve a car purchasing problem.

In present circumstances, it has become inevitable for individuals to continue obtaining new information and skills throughout their lives. Having learned to learn and information literate individuals are able to meet their learning needs both in career and personal terms by themselves. The important aspect is the individual feels the need to learn and knows how and where to meet these needs. Feeling those can be considered as the basic requirement to make efforts in order to meet them. However, the surrounding circumstances may support or prevent meeting these needs. Therefore, the main questions to be answered in this study are as follows: (1) what are the factors supporting academics, holding office in the faculty of education, to become lifelong learners? and (2) what are the factors preventing academics, holding office in the faculty of education, from becoming lifelong learners? Since the situation of being a lifelong learner will be examined by being based on the present working conditions, the study is designed as embedded multiple case study. It is endeavored to ensure maximum variety in the study group by taking into account the various academic titles, gender and fields of study. The interview form is developed based on the literature and revised according to the opinions of specialists. The data has been collected by having individual interviews with academics and a content analysis has been performed. In conclusion of the analysis performed, such themes as the need to become lifelong learners, the factors supporting to become lifelong learners and the factors preventing from becoming lifelong learners have been reached.

AbstractThis chapter describes a project in osteopathy exploring how regulators can support shared decision-making by positively promoting good practice rather than by way of traditionally adopted methods based on fitness to practice and disciplinary action. The project is built in part on a background development programme in values-based osteopathy. The regulator (the General Osteopathic Council), osteopaths and patients worked together co-productively in a series of workshops to develop support resources for shared decision-making based on what is important to the individual patient in question. Central to the project was an emerging understanding of the cultural values of osteopathy as a profession and how these impact on their practice. A summary of and links to the resources produced by the project are included. The chapter starts with a case narrative (the story of ‘Jennifer’) adapted from one used in the background development programme.

Abstract There is a growing international emphasis on the importance of diversity in the judiciary and the impact of the individual in decision-making. However, it can be a challenge to gain insight into the individuals who sit on the bench. For instance, there is limited official information about the individuals who sit on the High Court of Australia. One of the rare glimpses provided by the justices themselves is their judicial swearing-in speech. Drawing on a case-study of the swearing-in speeches of High Court justices sitting between 2008 and 2016, this paper illustrates how these speeches can illuminate key demographic information about the judiciary, as well as facets of the individual rarely explored in studies of judicial diversity: personality and values. This study demonstrates how swearing-in speeches can assist with filling information gaps about judicial diversity, and so extend debates about judicial selection.

This paper presents the procedures developed and used in the individual treatment programs for a group of preschool, postrubella, hearing-impaired children. A case study illustrates the systematic fashion in which the clinician plans programs for each child on the basis of the child’s progress at any given time during the program. The clinician’s decisions are discussed relevant to (1) the choice of a mode(s) for the child and the teacher, (2) the basis for selecting specific target behaviors, (3) the progress of each program, and (4) the implications for future programming.
