Fire disaster is accident that occur most frequently with different causes. It requires strong intervention for a sustainable fire-free environment. This study assessed causes and people’s behaviour in fire disasters towards a sustainable fire-free environment in Kebbi State, Nigeria. The study focused at identifying remote causes of fire disasters in Kebbi State, the people’s behaviour in/to fire situations using the state capital (Birnin Kebbi) as well as equipment available in the state fire service head-office towards a fire-free environment. Descriptive research approach was used. A sample size of 204 respondents (30 market traders, 144 occupants and 30 fire service personnel) obtained through Cochran 1963 sample size formula were randomly selected. Questionnaire and observation were used to collect data which were analyzed through descriptive statistics (frequency tables and percentages) and results were presented in charts. Results revealed that electrical fault/wiring, political reasons, negligence among others are the causes of fire disaster in the area with electrical fault/wiring as the remote cause. The behaviour of people towards building a sustainable fire-free environment shows people of the area do help one another in extinguishing fire whenever it strikes. Results also shows that lack of manpower and standard fire stations were the prominent challenges faced by the state fire service head-office in the state capital prompting incessant burning and resulting lives and property loss. Occupants of the area should always read and comply with safety guides of electrical appliances bought before use to avoid and prevent them from substandard gadgets that have ability of endangering their lives.

Abstract. Fire disasters are common occurrences in the urban settlements of the Philippines. Concerned agencies like the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) are constantly planning ways to prevent and mitigate fire disasters. The key to an effective plan against fire disaster is understanding how a potential fire can spread in a community. By combining both GIS and Probabilistic Cellular Automata (PCA), this paper solves the task of fire spread modeling and simulation. PCA is a model that consists of a regular grid of cells, whose cells are updated according to rules that take into account both the cell’s current state and the cell’s neighbors’ states. The model we developed factors in wind, building materials, and building density. The model was designed after several fires in major cities of Cebu, Philippines. An accuracy of 83.54% and a Cohen’s Kappa coefficient of 0.67 was achieved. Further, a web-based tool was developed to aid in fire disaster planning.

This paper will look into the topic of community involvement in forest fire disaster prevention, specifically in Indonesia. To begin, the paper will discuss the problem of forest fires in Indonesia, which occur frequently. The study also addressed issues related to disaster management, such as a lack of competence and knowledge, which resulted in disaster management ineffectiveness. The paper's third portion discusses the government's involvement in catastrophe management. Several initiatives and support have been implemented.

Kuta Alam Subdistrict is one of the subdistricts in the Banda Aceh city that has a risk of fire disasters. This is because this area is a residential area with a moderate category. Semi-permanent buildings and temporary constructions are still at high risk of fire often found in the area. Based on the results of interviews with the Banda Aceh Fire and Rescue Service, there were 27 fire incidents from 2014 to 2017, of which 12 houses were burned down, 2 schools, 3 office units, and 10 other public facilities affected by the fire. This research is needed to improve the ability of people to prevent and protect themselves, especially in pre-disaster conditions so that they can reduce the fire incidence. The community capabilities in fire disaster mitigation are the methods used in this study. Subdistrict consist of optimizing land use in city development, minimizing street parking, increasing green open space, increasing the ability of water sources and wet towel / clothes as a method of fire outage if there is a small fire at home, access information about procedures for firing and providing early warning, and must be able to evacuate to the designated location.

ABSTRACTHospital fires have the potential to cause fatalities and huge material losses,  there were 22 hospital fires covered by newspapers in India in 2011-2012 with 102 dead. Buildings are considered safe if all occupants building threatened by fire must be able to exit and assembly point before available safe egress time. This study aimed to analyze the effect of preconditions and unsafe acts (violations of evacuation procedures) on evacuation duration in fire disaster conditions in the inpatient building of general hospital R. Koesma Tuban. This study was an observational study, a quantitative method and cross sectional design, which were carried out in April-July 2019. Analysis of Covariance test results stated preconditions (age, sex, exercise habits, location of inpatient ward, distance traveled) affect the duration of evacuation (p <0.05) while preconditions (interaction between workers and readiness of workers) don’t affect the duration evacuation (p> 0.05). Violation of evacuation procedures has the potential to influence the duration of evacuation (p = 0.054). The conclusions this study are age, gender, exercise habits, location of the inpatient ward, and distance traveled affect the duration of the evacuation. Keywords: Duration of evacuation, preconditions, violations of evacuation procedures, hospital

The study analysis the disaster risk using the asset management database of Ching Yun University. The study proposed the risk factors of calculation and process in different disaster. Disaster of highest frequency in history of Ching Yun University is fire disaster and artificial mistake. The risk value was been calculated from the facilities and personnel on each floor. The risk analysis results show that the badly need of improvement floors is 3F, 6F and 8F. There is the highest risk value of personnel and facilities in 3F. This study proposes four improving options to reduce the casualties of the two dangerous situations occurrence. The analysis method of risk assessment used in this study is suitable for the general building to use to plan escape routes but the database should be set first.
