Abstract. Information technology architecture planning for Baubau Village using TOGAF ADM. Babau Village is a village located in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Currently, Babau Village has implemented information technology as a centre for information and administrative services. To improve the quality of service to the community, existing information technology needs to be further developed because the amount of information in the system will continue to increase along with population growth. The problem faced if information technology is not developed is a system performance problem. For further development to be more focused, research on an information technology architecture design for Babau Village. The design using TOGAF ADM is a blueprint and a roadmap for the development of advanced information technology services. The aim is that the existing business processes within the Babau Village related to information and administrative services continue to develop according to the needs of the community and the organizational management of Babau Village. Keywords: enterprise architecture planning, TOGAF, ADM, Babau VillageAbstrak. This paper reports our experience with developing a Business-2-Social (B2S) platform that provides necessary support to all this platform’s constituents, namely business processes, social media (e.g., social network), and Internet of Things (IoT). This platform is exemplified with smart cities whose successful management requires a complete integration of IoT and social media capabilities into the business processes implementing user services. To ensure a successful integration, social actions, that a smart city would allow citizens execute, are analyzed in terms of impact of these smart city’s business processes. Reactions to these actions are tracked and then analyzed to improve user services.

The new technology greatly affects the way of production, consumption, communication, service delivery and ultimately on the entire supply chain. All stakeholders in the business process must invest in new knowledge and develop new business models to adapt to the changing business environment. Connecting devices over internet (Internet of things) and stakeholders’ synergy open up opportunities for new market achievements as well as for the improvement of business processes both in the supply chain and in ports. The development of information technologies has an impact on the reduction of errors, costs, time of information transfer and transport, inventory reduction and thus on better customization. There should be no weak links in the supply chain, which is especially related to the port and port processes that are the basis of the supply chain network. The port is the core of all activities of the supply chain and is also a place where supply and demand meet.

Purpose Managers are increasingly looking to adopt the Internet of Things (IoT) to include the vast amount of big data generated in their decision-making processes. The use of IoT might yield many benefits for organizations engaged in civil infrastructure management, but these benefits might be difficult to realize as organizations are not equipped to handle and interpret this data. The purpose of this paper is to understand how IoT adoption affects decision-making processes. Design/methodology/approach In this paper the changes in the business processes for managing civil infrastructure assets brought about by IoT adoption are analyzed by investigating two case studies within the water management domain. Propositions for effective IoT adoption in decision-making processes are derived. Findings The results show that decision processes in civil infrastructure asset management have been transformed to deal with the real-time nature of the data. The authors found the need to make organizational and business process changes, development of new capabilities, data provenance and governance and the need for standardization. IoT can have a transformative effect on business processes. Research limitations/implications Because of the chosen research approach, the research results may lack generalizability. Therefore, researchers are encouraged to test the propositions further. Practical implications The paper shows that data provenance is necessary to be able to understand the value and the quality of the data often generated by various organizations. Managers need to adapt new capabilities to be able to interpret the data. Originality/value This paper fulfills an identified need to understand how IoT adoption affects decision-making processes in asset management in order to be able to achieve expected benefits and mitigate risk.

Design and development of systems for delivering real-time information to people with disabilities and elderly persons need to be based on defined user requirements. For this purpose, the user requirements have been defined in this paper according to the everyday needs of people who use traffic networks and move in closed spaces. The logical presentation of the functionality of the informing system operation and its subsystems includes all the information (data) important for designing a user information delivery system. The paper presents a conceptual architecture system for delivering user informing services related to the environment based on the Internet of Things concept. The aim of the user informing service is an increase in the level of mobility of persons with disabilities and the senior age groups of users. In order to check the operation of the proposed architecture, the informing system operation was monitored on Arduino Uno and Raspberry Pi platforms in laboratory conditions. A simulation confirmed the interdependence of individual data from different subsystems in order to provide real-time information to the system user. The proposed conceptual architecture can contribute to a more efficient approach to the modeling of assistive technologies (with the aim of informing the users) based on dew/fog/cloud technologies in the Internet of Things  environment.

Purpose The goal of the present article is to contribute to the extant literature about the exploitation of IoT in seaports by illustrating in detail how such IT infrastructures can impact on the redesign of their business processes. Thus, the research question of the study is: how do IoT technologies redesign the business processes of seaports? Design/methodology/approach The article reports the illustrative case study of the German Port of Hamburg, one of the main European seaports, which widely adopted technologies based on IoT over the last few years. Findings The results show the adoption of IoT technologies widely redesigns and improves the performance of all the main business process of the port analysed, in particular those processes related to technology and information of the organisation. The IoT-driven BPR must be planned strategically by the port management and implies the involvement of all the port stakeholders and, if necessary, the hiring external professional partners. Originality/value Despite some authors report generically which are the ports operational domains more affected by IoT, there is a lack of studies about the specific implications of the adoption of such technologies on the BPR of seaports. The article fills in this gap.
