In this article, according to the reliability appraisal of the structure of a heavy industrial plant which is near service limit years, we found several major safety hazard issues and proposed corrective measures to reinforce. On the basis of structural calculation and analysis, we could determine whether to upgrade the crane and propose the corresponding feasibility upgrade project, which can provide the basis for other similar identification.

This work was undertaken to compare the use of BS 8110 and Eurocode 2 in the design of structures and focused on outlining the relative gains and/or shortcomings of Eurocode 2 and BS 8110 under certain criteria which are loading, analysis, ease of use and technological advancement. To accomplish this, the analysis and design of the main structural elements in reinforced concrete building was undertaken using the two codes. A modest medium rise building was loaded using the two code and analyzed. Analysis was done using CSI start tedds to obtain the shear force and bending moment envelopes. For the beam, it was found that Eurocode 2 gave higher internal supports moments. For the case of maximum span moments and shear force values, the Euroode 2 values lagged behind. Column load and moments values were generally lower for Euroode 2. In summary, the comparative benefits of using Euroode 2 are that it is logical and organized, less restrictive and more extensive than the BS 8110. The new Eurocodes are claimed to be the most technically advanced code in the world and therefore should be adopted by Nigerian engineers. http://dx.doi.org/10.4314/njt.v36i3.14

Full-scale tests provide valuable information on the characteristics of building structures that can be used to evaluate design methods, to calibrate modelling techniques, and to determine damage corresponding to loading levels. These tests are scarce due to the enormous requirements in testing space and specialized testing equipment. The seismic behaviour of a full-scale, two-storey, reinforced high-performance concrete building designed with moderate ductility detailing is evaluated by pseudo-dynamic testing, during which increasing seismic loads are applied, resulting in increasing levels of permanent damage to the structure. This paper presents the analytical predictions of the test results using a global force–displacement parameters approach and a refined approach, half-way between global modelling and finite element modelling, using force–strain parameters and damage mechanics principles. Identification of the parameters required to describe the response parameters are presented together with a description of the numerical procedures used in each approach. It is shown that the predictions are in good agreement with the test results. Advantages and disadvantages of each approach are highlighted in the context of performance-based analysis and design.

The structural reliability of the building ensures the building safety as a whole and the safety of the population, therefore the issue of ensuring reliability arises primarily in the design process. Buildings must be protected from destruction during all types of force, as well as in the case of load-bearing structures destruction as a result of emergency. Emergency impact on an object is an unregulated impact that is created as a result of an object getting into a special situation and can lead to its accident. The causes of structures progressive collapse are considered in this article. The main methods and methods of protecting buildings from progressive destruction are given. The calculation analysis of the monolithic reinforced concrete building frame for progressive collapse according to the method of possible damage is performed. There are many calculated and constructive proposals for solving the problems of counteracting the progressive destruction that can be divided into three categories: secondary protection measures, indirect design and direct design. In this article the resulting reinforcement of structural elements is determined taking into account the structural requirements for the continuity of longitudinal reinforcement, the minimum percentage of reinforcement. They are determined in the necessary places of additional reinforcement depending on the accepted permanent (background) reinforcement of the floors.

Mawaddah Medika Hospital requires personnel who have building expertise and require supporting equipment in terms of supervision and analysis to calculate building structures that meet standards. The purpose of this community service is the application of the Structural Analysis And Design (STAAD) Pro V8i application to calculate safe building structures that hospitals must provide to support their activities. The results of calculating the dimensions of the concrete and its reinforcement are based on the axial moments and forces carried on the Central Steril Supply Department building. Structural calculation method with Structural Analysis And Design (STAAD) Pro V8i. As a result of this community service activity, partners receive assistance in planning the structure of the building so that an effective planning implementation can be obtained.ABSTRAKRumah Sakit Mawaddah Medika, membutuhkan  kompetensi personil yang mempunyai keahlian Bangunan Gedung, serta membutuhkan  peralatan yang mendukung dalam hal survei maupun peralatan analisa untuk menghitung struktur bangunan gedung yang memenuhi standar..

Dynamic characteristics calculation analysis on a super high-rise office building structure under seismic effect has been done by using currently popular software called PKPM in civil engineering. It turns out that the result calculated with PKPM software has great reference value for the seismic analysis of high-rise building structure. Analysis method tailored for dynamic characteristics of earthquakes in this paper can be used as reference for similar seismic analysis and design of super high-rise buildings.
