Scientific advances in the field of biomedicine have fundamentally changed the ways in which we think about our bodies. Disease, aging, and even death, are no longer seen as inevitable realities but as obstacles that can be controlled, and in some cases even reversed, by technological means. The current discourse, however, can be enriched by an investigation of the various ways in which the aging process was perceived and explained throughout human history. In this article, I argue that in early China, the experience of aging and the challenges and anxieties it produced played a constitutive role in the shaping of religious culture. Drawing on a variety of medical, philosophical, and liturgical sources, I outline two models of aging: one that presented aging, and especially the loss of virility, as an undesirable but solvable condition that can be reversed with the aid of various rejuvenation techniques, and a more socially conscious model that depicted aging as a process of gradual social ascension, a natural but fundamentally unalterable condition that should be accepted, marked, and even celebrated through ritual. I conclude by demonstrating the legacy and lasting influence of these models on two of the most fundamental tenets of Chinese religion: the pursuit of longevity and the ideal of filial piety.

Our objective is to develop a novel method of approaching the arthroscopic treatment of osteochondral lesions within the knee joint by using mathematics as a way of understanding the geometry involved in the knee, both in normal and degenerated knee joint surfaces. Bone and cartilage lesions are frequent, whether as a result of trauma, degenerative pathology, vascular pathology (osteocondritis dissecans) or tumoral. In all cases, a defect can be repaired arthroscopically, if it has manageable dimensions and if the surgeon has the technological means and the necessary skills, through the use of grafts (autografts or allografts). Alternatively, a lesion that may be approached arthroscopically initially could prove to be too great for repair and may need a second intervention for reconstruction with an endoprosthesis. We aim to further deepen the surgeons understanding of this pathology, through the use of 3D technology as a way of representing the osteochondral defect. Thus, its dimensions and position may be better understood, and the surgical intervention may be better planned out, potentially resulting in a shorter operating time and an overall superior outcome for the patient, and even potentially diminishing the number of unnecessary surgeries performed.

Customer Relationship Management has its roots in service marketing which is based in turn on the formative work of Berry (1983) and the IMP. Its purpose is to integrate marketing, sales and service functions through business process automation, technological solutions and information resources to maximize each customer contact. In this way service marketing systems facilitate relationships among enterprises, their customers, suppliers and employees and so provide the technological means to put relationship marketing philosophy into practice. Organizations that fail to keep up with competitor’s service marketing capabilities risk being seriously disadvantaged. However, the use of technology on its own is not sufficient and firms must combine developments in IT with a philosophy that calls for the re-organisation of the entire firm around its customers. This shift will not be easily achieved. Our purpose, based on collaborative Canfield/CSC Computer Sciences Corporation studies, is to identify the pitfalls, and offer advice on the successful implementation of service marketing systems in support of relationship marketing strategies, including an audit of the organization’s readiness to proceed.

The issues related to the introduction of innovative methods, technologies and technological means in the investigation of crimes are considered. It is noted that one of the main directions of the development of Criminalistics is the assimilation of the virtual reality associated with computerization of spheres of life, implementation of modern technologies and their use in law enforcement. Technology use of laser scanning of terrain and objects resulting in 3D model is produced allows several times to increase informative value of data collected at the incident scene, provides a visual and convenient visualization in three-dimensional form. As against photo and video images, 3D model has a stereoscopic image and the ability to freely change the angle while viewing. Besides to scanning results can be stored on any digital media without the possibility of changes or adjustments. Attention is focused on the technological capabilities of 3D-visualization systems on examples of their use in foreign countries as technological means of capturing the situation of the scene and the subsequent of a crime reconstruction. Thus, using a portable three-dimensional imaging system for working with volumetric traces at a crime scene, it is possible to obtain accurate three-dimensional images of traces of protectors or footprints (shoes) on soil and snow. This system is an alternative to traditional methods of fixing evidence: photofixing and making plaster casts. Unlike other systems, new approach does not require the use of lasers. The expediency of expanding the range of 3D laser scanning system use in modern investigative and judicial practice of our state with the aim of increasing the level of provision of pre-trial investigation authorities with technological means and bringing it closer to European standards is argued.

The process effectiveness of blade cutting is defined considerably with the prediction accuracy of cutting tool durability term. But, in spite of that cutting processes have a probabilistic character, in modern mechanical engineering there are used durability de-pendences describing only the dependence of an average period of blade cutting tool durability upon cutting modes without taking into account a stochastic nature of tool wear depending upon many factors. For ac-counting cutting process variability there are offered stochastic models of cutting tool failure, but they hold good for a cutting tool with one cutting edge and in the case with a multi-blade cutting tool they must be speci-fied. In the paper it is defined that at a fan wear model with the increase of the blade number the period of cutting tool durability decreases, as failure likelihood of even one blade increases because of the blade properties spread of one tool. The factor of a durability period variation decreases with the growth of the blade number because of the decrease of an average durability period decrease. In the case of a wear accumulation model the multi-blade tool reliability does not depend upon the blade number. The dependences of an average period of durability and a factor of variation at a complex model of wear are similar to the case with the fan model of wear, but their values will be higher. In the case of a destruction model the factor of multi-blade tool durability variation does not depend upon the blade number, but an average durability depends considerably upon the blade number, but the dependence appearance corresponds to the dependence of an average durability at a fan model of wear. The type of the dependence of durability average period upon on the blade number at a generalized model of failures is similar to the cases considered previously, and a kind of the dependence of a variation factor changes depending on model parameters

The productivity of technological processes in agriculture is determined by the set of transport and technological means used. The article describes the models for the unification of shift performance, taking into account a wide range of agricultural cargoes and a large number of works on their movement in the process of cultivation and harvesting of agricultural crops. A step-by-step modeling of scenarios for the use of transport and technological means was carried out on the basis of the optimality criterion and forecasting the period of agricultural work. They confirmed that the objective function is of theoretical and practical interest, as it helps to determine the optimal values of the power of technical means, depending on the combination of production conditions. The numerical value of power obtained by calculation can serve as a guide for manufacturers of agricultural machinery in the development of promising vehicles for a specific consumer, depending on the availability of resources and production and economic conditions.
