“From Islamic Revolutions to the Internet” traces the development of global Islam from the Islamic Revolution in Iran and the war in Afghanistan to today, via the post-Soviet opening of multiple borders and the growth of Islam in China, Central Asia, and rural Africa. This period was characterized by competition between rival organizations, some violent such as ISIS. What happened when the states were no longer able to control the beliefs they sponsored? Today’s nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) have returned to a message of Muslim unity. Smartphone technology has enabled individual religious activists to communicate their beliefs in a more vibrant and arresting way than state-sponsored televised debates.

The modern era in diplopod taxonomy began in 1971 with publication of the Nomenclator Generum et Familiarum Diplopodorum. Along with the internet and electronic communications, this pioneering work catalyzed an increased output of synthetic publications beyond mere species descriptions, thereby leading to accelerating advancements. Significant taxonomic and/or cataloging studies have since occurred in 14 of the 16 established orders, all except Stemmiulida and Siphoniulida. Important faunistic works have appeared on Canada, Mexico, Asian Russia, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Iran, Turkey, central Asia in general, Belgium, Scandinavia, Great Britain & Ireland, Madagascar, and the Comoros, Canary, Cape Verde, and Galapagos Islands. The complete known ranges of four orders, four superfamilies, and 47 families have been mapped along with partial, regional mappings for seven other orders and seven families. With only one resident taxonomist, continental regions of the Neotropics warrant concentrated attention in future years, and emphasis on Chinese millipeds will surely continue because of the discovery of a substantial southeast Asian callipodidan fauna. Taxonomic emphases are needed in the Spirobolidea (Spirobolida), to assess affinities between the 10 component families, and Spirostreptida, to determine taxonomic positions of the suborders Cambalidea & Epinannolenidea. Resolution of the latter may derive from development of the "8th gonopod clade" concept, involving the orders Chordeumatida, Callipodida, Stemmiulida, Polydesmida, & Siphoniulida, and the suborder Spirostreptidea (Spirostreptida). Attributes of the global diplopod community are discussed.

AbstractThis paper seeks to understand the role of the Internet and information and communications technology (ICT) in potential democratic movements. We propose an ecological model of technological development and democratization which recognizes that change can occur (1) at individual as well as social levels; (2) on a continuum from oppression to freedom; and (3) in multiple social spheres. Using case studies from China, we suggest that ICT might facilitate democracy on account of its potential transformations and efficiencies in terms of individuals’ relationships to knowledge and information; governments; persons, groups, and nongovernmental organizations; and work and traditional social roles.

Despite the popularity of comics, the subject of their translation has remained notably underexplored. Comics swept into the market of Iran in the 1970s; however, they were a new and unfamiliar genre in the country. One of the earliest comic series to appear in Iran was Les Aventures de Tintin, translated by Khosro Sami’i and published by Universal Publications before the Islamic Revolution of Iran in 1979. Following the Revolution, Universal discontinued the series in Iran and other publishers briefly took it up; after a few years, publication of the books was discontinued. It was not until 2000 that the series was re-introduced by Tarikh-o Farhang and Andishe-ye No Publications. Moreover, as a result of the ubiquitous availability of comic books on the Internet, scanlations made by Tintinophiles have burgeoned recently. This study examines the translations into Persian of Les Aventures de Tintin from these three groups (the early editions of the 1970s and 1980s, the revived publications of 2000, and the Internet scanlations) and attempts to shed light on the position of comics in the translated polysystem of Iran. For this purpose, Even-Zohar’s Polysystem theory (“Polysystem Studies” 9-26) and Tamaki’s approach (119-146) are employed. The synthetic model of translation description proposed by Lambert and Van Gorp (42-53) is used to examine the translations in three layers: 1) preliminary data, 2) macro-level, and 3) micro-level. Onomatopoeic representations are analysed at the micro-level to investigate the extent to which their translations have broken target culture norms and conventions. The results of the study reveal a gap for comics, an empty niche to be filled, in the translated polysystem of Iran and, accordingly, a canonized position for this genre and its translations. This position, however, has migrated to a less central place in more recent translations.

Kata Kunci: Steganografi, Stego Image, One Bit Least Significant Bit, AndroidAbstract - Information is very important and valuable, today information is often exchanged through the internet. The advancement of smartphone technology, especially Android smartphones, allows users to send data / information to each other via the internet easily and quickly using several applications on smartphones such as WhatsApp, E-Mail, Telegram, and Facebook. Data / information sent via the internet is still prone to theft and tapping. Therefore we need a way to secure data / information that will be sent. Steganography is a technique that can be used to secure data / information. Steganography is a technique used to hide messages into a medium such as images, audio and video. This study discusses the implementation of steganography on an Android smartphone that can be used to hide text messages into 24-bit RGB image media (cover image), and can also be used to retrieve text messages from inserted 24-bit RGB images (Stego image). Media Images used as input (cover image) format are JPEG and PNG. The algorithm used for hiding and retrieving text messages to and from images is One bit Least Significant Bit. From 5 samples of text messages and 5 cover images, hiding text messages into the cover image works well, with a success rate of 100% and an average insertion time of 0.009 seconds. of the 5 stego image samples that have side text messages, message retrieval was also successful with a 100% success rate and an average extraction time of 0.0036 seconds. The time used for extraction is faster than insertion, the output of the stego image is PNG format, with a size of 900 x 900 pixels. Keywords: Steganography, Stego Image, One Bit Least Significant Bit, Android
