Abstract Background Effective use of technology makes human life much easier nowadays. This use has become widespread in health and has gained functionality in many areas. Using technology-based interventions, it is possible to minimize the loss of psychosocial functionality and cognitive disability in schizophrenia, in which social cognitive disability is one of the most basic symptom clusters. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of technological devices and internet usage in patients with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder, to determine the attitude of patients towards technological devices and internet usage and the relation between technology, internet usage with clinical variables such as psychosocial functioning, positive and negative symptoms. Methods Data were collected from the patients who applied to Dokuz Eylül University Medicine Faculty Schizophrenia Outpatient Clinic. Eighty-three schizophrenia patients and 13 schizoaffective disorder patients who meet the schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder diagnostic criteria of DSM-5 were included in the study. The sociodemographic data registration form was completed. A questionnaire was developed for the purposes of the research to evaluate the use of technology. The level of psychosocial functioning was assessed using the Personal and Social Performance Scale (PSP), and the positive and negative symptom severity was evaluated using the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). Results The study found that 86% of patients owned mobile phone, 67% of patients used internet access, 67% of patients owned computer. 61% patients were using any kind of mobile application and 47% patients were using social media application. The most prevelant mobile applications among patients were facebook and whatsapp (48%). Younger patiens were using internet more than elders in a day (r=-0,395, p<0,001). Negative syptom scores were statistically lower among patients who were using mobile phones (M= 16,05, t=-2,50, p=0,014), internet connection in mobile phone (M=15,26, t=-2,93, p=0,004), using mobile application (M=15,47, t=-2,93, p=0,008), facebook (M=15,31, t=-2,32, p=0,022), whatsapp (M=14,77, t=-3,40, p=0,001), messenger (M=14,94, t=-2,33, p=0,022), messaging applications (M=14,96, t=-3,36, p=0,001), social media applications (M=15,04, t=-2,78, p=0,006) and who make video conversation (M=15,52, t=-2,21, p=0,029) than patients who were not using. PSP score of patients who were using mobile phone (M=50,62, t=2,34, p=0,021), internet access in mobile phone (M=57, t=3,07, p=0,003), mobile application (M=51,90, t=2,16, p=0,033), facebook (M=53,47, t=2,63, p=0,010), whatsapp (M=54,68, t=2,43, p=0,001), messenger (M=54,69, t=2,62, p=0,010), messaging applications (M=54,24, t=3,50, p=0,001), social media applications (M=54,29, t=3,10, p=0,003), and making video conversation (M=53,05, t=2,74, p=0,007) were statistically higher than the patients who were not using. There is also statistically significant relation between application usage and sub-items of PANSS. Discussion This study indicated that younger schizophrenia patients having less negative symptoms and increased psychosocial functionality was likely to use technological devices and mobile applications more. Patients may use applications more if they have been developed to facilitate their daily lives. Mobile applications and social media may affect the daily life activities of patients more intensively. In addition, using mobile applications may help patients to cope with their symptoms and improve psychosocial functioning.

Abstract Background Processing speed is one of the main areas of cognitive process which takes attention to do research on cognition in schizophrenia. Processing speed is also essential in learning, problem-solving and related to social cognitive functions. Technology use has become widespread in health and has gained functionality in many areas. By technology-based interventions, it might be possible to provide improvements in the psychosocial functioning of the patients with schizophrenia. The aim of this study is to look at the relationship between processing speed and technology use in schizophrenia patients. Methods Data were collected from the patients who applied to Dokuz Eylül University Medicine Faculty Schizophrenia Outpatient Clinic. Forty-one schizophrenia patients and 10 schizoaffective disorder patients who had been diagnosed as Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder according to DSM-5 diagnostic criteria were included in the study. A questionnaire to evaluate the use of technology of the patients was developed. The level of the psychosocial functioning was assessed using the Personal and Social Performance Scale (PSP), and the positive and negative symptom severity was evaluated using the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). Stroop Colour and Word Test (SCWT) and Digit Symbol Coding Test (DSC) to rate processing speed have been applied. Results More than half of patients had mobile phone (n=47, 92,2%), computer (n=33, 64,7%), internet connection at home (n=34, 66,7%), internet connection on mobile phone (n=34, 66,7%), mobile application (n=33, 64,7%), social media application (n=26, 51,0%). facebook (n=27, 52,9%), whatsapp (n=28, 54,9%), messaging application (n=31, 60,8%). There is a statistically significant difference as duration of shorter reaction in DSC scores between patients who use (u) internet access on mobile phone (u= 34,35, nu= 24,88, p=0,013), whatsapp (u=35,00, nu=26,57, p=0,025), and messaging application (u=34,52, nu=26,05, p=0,022) compared to patients who are nonusers (nu). Having internet connection on mobile phone (p=0,028) and using whatsapp (p=0,010) showed a statistically significant relationship with neutral stimulus reaction time on SCWT among users compared to nonusers. Also, congruent task is statistically related with using mobile application (p=0,038), whatsapp (p=0,042) and messaging application (p=0,050). The other significant finding is patients who use internet access on mobile phone (u= 94,67 seconds, nu= 120,94 s, p=0,017), messaging applications (u=92,33 s, nu= 120,50 s, p=0,015) and whatsapp (u= 88,85 s, nu=120,91 s, p=0,005) showed statistically significant shorter duration in incongruent task of SCWT compared to patients who are not users. Discussion Patients who use the internet and messaging applications also had better scores in processing speed. “Being online” or having an opportunity to “be online” may improve processing speed skills or patients having good processing speed ability may easily use mobile phone applications. We found a significant reciprocal relationship between processing speed and using the internet, messaging application and social media applications.

To find the best train ticket booking mobile application on the bases of application features. Four widely used mobile phone applications (Ixigo, MakeMyTrip, ClearTrip, and IRCTC) for railway ticket booking are selected and application features related to ease of download and use, rating, number of installs, etc. are compared. A practical attempt is made to book a train ticket using all these applications one by one and comparing features such as coach locator, platform locator, route map, fare break-up, showing seat availability, save and pre-fill passenger details, sort search list by train name/number, sort search list by journey duration, sort search list by class, train running status, etc. 1 point is allotted to the applications if a particular feature is available in the applications and 0 is allotted if the feature is not available. Sum of all the points is calculated separately for each application and then ranks are given from 1 to 4 considering the final score. Ixigo mobile application scores the highest among other three train ticketing mobile applications – MakeMyTrip, ClearTrip, and IRCTC. Features such as downloading applications via a miss call or SMS; downloading application from websites of Ixigo, MakeMyTrip, ClearTrip, and IRCTC; and sorting train search list by class on applications are not found in any of these four applications. Furthermore, features are grouped into groups such as – the features only available in top ranking Ixigo and the features not available in top ranking Ixigo but available in any or all other three applications. This research will be of a good value for mobile railway ticket booking application providers as competition is becoming acute and the booking pattern is shifting from using desktop or laptop to mobile phones and tablets.

Abstract — Pincher is an online platform that is useful for assisting in finding and registering for training classes aimed at facilitating users who want to find their identity and channel their talents and inspirations creatively. This pincher application provides information and distributes training classes by selling class tickets. In its development as an online platform, Pincher still uses the website as a means of distributing training classes owned by Pincher, so this tool is less effective and efficient for users because the Pincher website is too complicated to access using a mobile phone or smartphone. Therefore, to help users access the Pincher application using their mobile phones, Pincher applications are made in a simple form that is applied to mobile applications. In addition, Pincher also does not have a feature that can make it easier for customers to determine the class to be chosen. Therefore this mobile application will be equipped with a system that can make it easier for users to choose attractive classes for customers, namely with a recommendation system.   Keywords— Ticket Selling Application, Flutter, Mobile Application, Recommendation System.

Abstract Study question Given the subjectivity of blastocyst grading and the challenge of performing routine competency assessments, how consistently do embryologists grade blastocysts when using an easily accessible phone application? Summary answer Grading agreement was fair to moderate for inner cell mass (ICM) and trophectoderm (TE), evidence that a mobile application can be used for quality assurance. What is known already Embryologists routinely perform external quality assessments (EQA), though the utility of EQA for quality improvement is limited, and more active, user-friendly tools are needed to improve quality assurance in embryology. Blastocyst grading is one of the most important and subjective tasks in clinical embryology, important for both blastocyst ranking and decision to freeze. Inter-user agreement is only fair for ICM (kappa 0.349) and TE grade (kappa 0.397; Storr et al., 2017). Fair agreement has also been reported for decision to freeze for a cohort of blastocysts that exhibited borderline morphology (kappa 0.301; Hammond et al., 2020). Study design, size, duration A prospective study of blastocyst grading consistency using ARTCompass, a mobile phone application designed to assess clinical decision making of laboratory staff for andrology and embryology competency. Two assessments, each with 100 images of expanded blastocysts in three planes, were performed by 42 embryologists from 9 clinics in 2 countries between April to July 2020. Survey 1 assessed ICM grading and survey 2 assessed TE grading using the same set of images for consistency. Participants/materials, setting, methods Blastocysts were of proportionally mixed grades (ranging from grade A to X) using a modified Gardner system that included “X” for non-viable ICM/TE. Embryologists were advised to complete the tests individually in one sitting. The Fleiss kappa coefficient (k) measured inter-rater agreement among embryologists when assigning blastocyst grade. Kappa value interpretation is as follows <0.20: poor; 0.21–0.40: fair; 0.41–0.60: moderate; 0.61–0.80: good and 0.81–1.00: very good. Main results and the role of chance Overall, agreement for ICM and TE grades was moderate among embryologists (kappa 0.47, 0.52, respectively). ICM grade B and C had the lowest agreement (0.37, 0.39), while ICM grade X (no, or degenerate ICM), and TE grade A showed the highest agreement (0.68, 0.62). These results illustrate that embryologists had difficultly classifying ICM grade when it was of moderate to poor quality (grade b or c), likely due to subjectivity in grading size and compaction level, but were good at classifying ICM grade when there was no apparent ICM (grade x). For TE grade, embryologists consistently identified a top-quality TE (grade a), which is reassuring as TE grade is the primary morphological feature used for blastocyst ranking. In general, this QA platform offers ease of use and shows agreement values for ICM and TE that are similar to other studies, suggesting that blastocyst grading with a mobile phone application is a viable option for quality assurance. Limitations, reasons for caution Only blastocyst grading was assessed, therefore additional competency assessments using a mobile device should be assessed for accuracy. Further studies are needed to determine if mobile applications can improve competency. Wider implications of the findings: Ease of use by 42 embryologists indicates mobile applications may provide a user-friendly and accessible platform for QA. Since effective and efficient assessment of competency and KPIs is an ongoing challenge for laboratories, a mobile application is a novel and effective tool to monitor QA parameters in the IVF laboratory Trial registration number Not applicable
