The present work aims to analyse the meaning of the concept of friendship through the study of the work of the doctor and philosopher Pedro Laín Entralgo. The initial hypothesis of the study is that the concept of friendship has been used instrumentally by social media networks, and that these do not offer the conditions necessary to fully experience true friendship. To verify this, we focused on the study of the psychological dimensions of friendship proposed by the author, identifying a series of variables and conducting an analysis by means of a survey of university students who are active users of the platform. With these results the descriptive statistics were extracted and a nonparametric analysis was performed of the variables to determine if Facebook does in fact offer the conditions necessary for to experience true friendship in its psychological dimensions. As the results show, to experience true friendship on social networks is difficult, given that the nature of the interactions between users of the platform are not appropriate for this experience. In calling this different type of relationship friendship Facebook benefits from an attractive hook which leads users to generate contacts as a form of currency which benefits the business model of the social media platform. The concept of true friendship is altered, deformed and displaced in favour of other types of relationships.

The popularity of the internet has increased the use of e-commerce websites and news channels. Fake news has been around for many years, and with the arrival of social media and modern-day news at its peak, easy access to e-platform and exponential growth of the knowledge available on social media networks has made it intricate to differentiate between right and wrong information, which has caused large effects on the offline society already. A crucial goal in improving the trustworthiness of data in online social networks is to spot fake news so the detection of spam news becomes important. For sentiment mining, the authors specialise in leveraging Facebook, Twitter, and Whatsapp, the most prominent microblogging platforms. They illustrate how to assemble a corpus automatically for sentiment analysis and opinion mining. They create a sentiment classifier using the corpus that can classify between fake, real, and neutral opinions in a document.

The present exploratory study was taken up to know about the various social networking sites that students use and the type of information shared by them on them. WhatsApp emerged as the most preferred medium for sharing messages, photos, and videos. There was a significant difference between the use of social media networks and the content shared on them. Content related to music, cooking, and movies were watched on the top three social networking sites namely YouTube, WhatsApp, and Instagram. The study found a significant difference between watched social media networks. There exists a significant difference regarding the different contents watched on social media. A significant difference between watched and shared content in different social media networks was also established. The three most important advantages of social media as perceived by the students were convenience in keeping in touch with friends, ease to learn new technology, knowledge of various academic institutions for higher studies across the country. Three disadvantages indicated by the study group were less physical activity, cybercrime, and privacy issues.

Social media networks have the capability to allow the spread of both factual information and disinformation amongst general populations at a pace unforeseen at any previous time in history. Those who are responsible for continuing to protect democratic principles can benefit from studying, understanding, and adapting to counteract this unheralded spread of data. Developing tactics and strategies to counter the antics of those who propagate disinformation to further their own causes will become necessary to protect the integrity of elections and other national and international interests. This chapter explores and reveals some of the general threats and potential counter measures to keep general populations protected from the negative effects of such campaigns.

The topic of influencers has been a widely used word in recent years. It is a person who, through social media networks, influences the target groups of their followers. The aim of this paper is to analyze the communication of selected influencers on the social platform Instagram. Using classification analysis, data on individual influencers are presented. For the sake of interesting results and the proof that the success of an influencer does not only depend on how many followers they have on their profile, the influencers were selected with the help of respondents who assessed them independently. The data were obtained on the social platform Instagram and subsequently processed on the basis of the last five contributions as of April 3, 2020. This work is focused mainly on the number of responses to influencers in the form of likes or comments, furthermore we also calculate what share of their contributions is from 2020, mainly due to the fact that influencers on Instagram started to become known mostly in that year. The statistics of individual Instagram profiles and their subsequent comparison with each other are presented. The results show that it does not entirely depend on how many followers an influencer has, but that it depends more on the quality and impact of individual posts.

We live in a virtual world where actual lifestyles are replicated. The growing reliance on the use of social media networks worldwide has resulted in great concern for information security. One of the factors popularizing the social media platforms is how they connect people worldwide to interact, share content, and engage in mutual interactions of common interest that cut across geographical boundaries. Behind all these incredible gains are digital crime equivalence that threatens the physical socialization. Criminal minded elements and hackers are exploiting social media platforms (SMP) for many nefarious activities to harm others. As detection tools are developed to control these crimes so also hackers’ tactics and techniques are constantly evolving. Hackers are constantly developing new attacking tools and hacking strategies to gain malicious access to systems and attack social media network thereby making it difficult for security administrators and organizations to develop and implement the proper policies and procedures necessary to prevent the hackers’ attacks. The increase in cyber-attacks on the social media platforms calls for urgent and more intelligent security measures to enhance the effectiveness of social media platforms. This paper explores the mode and tactics of hackers’ mode of attacks on social media and ways of preventing their activities against users to ensure secure social cyberspace and enhance virtual socialization. Social media platforms are briefly categorized, the various types of attacks are also highlighted with current state-of-the-art preventive mechanisms to overcome the attacks as proposed in research works, finally, social media intrusion detection mechanism is suggested as a second line of defense to combat cybercrime on social media networks.

This study tries to fill the knowledge theory gap on the impact of social media use in political discourse. This research examines social media's performance in political learning where it does not exist as part of classroom learning. Social media is differentiated between activities that do not involve political interaction directly and discussion with other users. This study develops a cross-sectional survey on undergraduate college students' representatives of the five biggest campuses in Bandung, Indonesia. A total of 977 students filled questionnaires. The results show political discussion through social media networks providing students' political learning. The more students discuss related politics through social media, the higher their level of political awareness becomes. Social media activities do not impact political learning, where these activities do not involve discussion with other users. This study shows that students obtain political learning through political discussion through their networks, not just through social media activities. Political learning through social media requires discussion related to politics. Besides, sex, age, and expenditure also affect students' political knowledge acquisition. The results have implications for conducting studies on specific platforms to confirm social media activities' impact according to each platform's characteristics.

Instagram can be interpreted as an application that can function as a medium for sharing photos and videos in a social network, allowing users to take photos and videos, and adding filters to add an interesting impression to photos. The total number of Instagram users in Indonesia reached 59,840,000. Just like other social media networks, Instagram has the concept of interaction between users by following or following. Users can also add comments to photos and videos, like, send, and save them in an account. Therefore, there are 7 Esports Teams that use Instagram as a promotional medium, namely: Onic Esport, PG. Barracx Esport, Aerowolf Esport, Bigetron Esport, Boom ID Esport, RRQ Esport, and Evos Esport. The purpose of this study is to calculate the credibility of the Instagram account performance of the 7 Most Successful Esports Teams in Indonesia. The method used for this research is quantitative exploratory method. The results of this study indicate that the Aerowolf Esport Indonesia Team vendor is ranked first and has good account performance credibility.credibility.
