Atmospheric pressure nonequilibrium plasma jet has been applied to the synthesis of [60]fullerene oxides (C 60 O n ) for the first time. C 60 O and C 60 O 2 were produced and isolated in high yields up to 44% and 21%, respectively. The structural assignment of C 60 O was confirmed by comparison with the reported spectroscopic data. Theoretical calculations of 13 C NMR chemical shifts for eight isomers of C 60 O 2 were performed and compared with the experimental data to assign the most possible structure for the obtained C 60 O 2 dominantly as an e isomer.

In this manuscript has investigated the synthesis of plasma-polymerized pyrrole (C4H5N) nano-particles prepared by the proposed atmospheric pressure nonequilibrium plasma jet through the parametric studies, particularly gas flow rate (0.5, 1 and 1.5 L/min). The plasma jet which used operates with alternating voltage 7.5kv and frequency 28kHz. The plasma-flow characteristics were investigated based on optical emission spectroscopy (OES). UV-Vis spectroscopy was used to characterize the  oxidization  state for polypyrrole. The major absorption appears around 464.1, 449.7 and 435.3  nm at the three flow rate of argon gas. The chemical composition and structural properties of the contained samples which synthesized at 0.5 L/min as a argon flow rate were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD). SEM point to a uniform distribution of polypyrrole (PPY) nanoparticles matrix. XRD technique showed a semicrystalline pattern for PPY)thin film. It is expected, that the high-quality plasma polymer grown by atmospheric pressure plasma jet method contributes to serving as conducting materials.

From the stem bark of Rhamnus catharticus L. (purging buckthorn) the three main anthraquinone glycosides have been isolated by the new method of droplet-countercurrent-chromatography. Their structures were spectroscopically identified as em odin-8-O-β-gentiobioside, -glucoside and -primveroside. From these the primveroside is a new substance, the gentiobioside has been found for the second time in plant material. The structures were confirmed by 13C NMR spectroscopy for the first time in O-glycosides of emodin type. Especially the differences in 13C chemical shifts of the free resp. acetylated aglycones and glycosides are useful parameters for determining the position of O-glycosylation in the 1,8-dihydroxy-anthraquinone derivatives

13C NMR spectra of sixteen lupane and 19β,28-epoxy-18α-oleanane triterpenoids I-XVI were measured and a complete structural assignment of chemical shifts was made. For most compounds also the carbon spin-lattice relaxation times T1 were obtained. Characteristic differences in chemical shifts of some carbon atom signals were found between 2α-methyl-3-oxo and 2α-methyl-1-oxo derivatives II, V and VIII with chair conformation of the ring A on the one hand and their 2β-isomers III, VI and IX (boat form) on the other. Using these 2-methyl ketones as models, the chair-boat population in allobetulone (I), 3-oxo-28-lupanenitrile (IV) and 1-oxo derivative VII was determined. The results agree well with the data obtained by other physical methods.

Abstract The results of a preliminary study of the interaction of supersonic gas-plasma flows created by a magneto-plasma compressor and a pulsed erosion plasma jet are presented. Stable initiation of the MPC discharge at atmospheric pressure was achieved for the first time. The advantage of using the coaxial arrangement of plasma jets sources for MPC discharge initiation is shown. A noticeable change in the shock wave front velocity and pressure (up to 20%), created during the MPC discharge and dispersed powders and liquid mixtures interaction, is discovered.

The evolution of microstructures of 10- to 100-Å diameter particles of Rh and Pt on SiO2 and Al2O3 following treatment in reducing, oxidizing, and reacting conditions have been characterized by TEM. We are able to transfer particles repeatedly between microscope and a reactor furnace so that the structural evolution of single particles can be examined following treatments in gases at atmospheric pressure. We are especially interested in the role of Ce additives on noble metals such as Pt and Rh. These systems are crucial in the automotive catalytic converter, and rare earths can significantly modify catalytic properties in many reactions. In particular, we are concerned with the oxidation state of Ce and its role in formation of mixed oxides with metals or with the support. For this we employ EELS in TEM, a technique uniquely suited to detect chemical shifts with ∼30Å resolution.
