Green analysis has turned out to be of a great value in all areas, including pharmaceutical analysis. Thus, it is extremely important to consider the environmental influence of each step in developing any analysis technique. The present work illustrates a validated, simple and green spectrofluorimetric method for the analysis of dantrolene sodium (DAN). The developed process is characterized by being of high sensitivity as well as being relatively inexpensive. The suggested technique based on the formation of a highly fluorescent product of DAN via its reduction by the aid of Zn/HCl system. The resulting fluorophore showed a powerful fluorescence at λ em 344 nm after excitation at λ ex 279 nm. Calibration graph revealed a great linear regression ( r = 0.9998) within concentration ranging from 0.05 to 2.0 µg ml −1 . The suggested method had very low detection and quantification limits of 0.010 and 0.031 µg ml −1 , respectively. The applied technique was effectively used in the determination of DAN in its pharmaceutical preparations. The results were compared with those from using the official United States Pharmacopeia (USP) method and they were in a good agreement. Moreover, content uniformity testing of DAN in capsules was performed adopting the investigated technique with satisfying results. The greenness of the suggested technique was confirmed by the three standard assessment tools. Therefore, the developed technique can be used in the routine quality control analysis of DAN with minimum harmful impact on nature or individuals.

A simple, economical and sensitive UV spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of allopurinol in environmental wastewater samples and, pharmaceutical preparations which shows maximum absorbance at 250 nm in distilled water. Beer’s law was obeyed in the range of 1 - 20 μg/ ml, with molar absorptive of 0.628 x104 l/mol.cm L.mol-1.cm-1 .The method was successfully applied to the determination of allopurinol in some pharmaceutical formulations (tablets) and industrial wastewater samples. The proposed method was validated by sensitivity and precision which proves suitability for the routine analysis of allopurinol in true samples.

The lack of standardized language assessment tools in Russian impedes clinical work, evidence-based practice, and research in Russian-speaking clinical populations. To address this gap in assessment of neurogenic language disorders, we developed and standardized a new comprehensive assessment instrument–the Russian Aphasia Test (RAT). The principal novelty of the RAT is that each subtest corresponds to a specific level of linguistic processing (phonological, lexical-semantic, syntactic, and discourse) in different domains: auditory comprehension, repetition, and oral production. In designing the test, we took into consideration various (psycho)linguistic factors known to influence language performance, as well as specific properties of Russian. The current paper describes the development of the RAT and reports its psychometric properties. A tablet-based version of the RAT was administered to 85 patients with different types and severity of aphasia and to 106 age-matched neurologically healthy controls. We established cutoff values for each subtest indicating deficit in a given task and cutoff values for aphasia based on the Receiver Operating Characteristic curve analysis of the composite score. The RAT showed very high sensitivity (> .93) and specificity (> .96), substantiating its validity for determining presence of aphasia. The test’s high construct validity was evidenced by strong correlations between subtests measuring similar linguistic processes. The concurrent validity of the test was also strong as demonstrated by a high correlation with an existing aphasia battery. Overall high internal, inter-rater, and test-retest reliability were obtained. The RAT is the first comprehensive aphasia language battery in Russian with properly established psychometric properties. It is sensitive to a wide range of language deficits in aphasia and can reliably characterize individual profiles of language impairments. Notably, the RAT is the first comprehensive aphasia test in any language to be fully automatized for administration on a tablet, maximizing further standardization of presentation and scoring procedures.

Nitroso-R-salt is proposed as a sensitive spectrophotometric reagent for the determination of paracetamol in aqueous solution. The method is based on the reaction of paracetamol with iron(III) and subsequent reaction with nitroso-R-salt to yield a green colored complex with maximum absorption at 720 nm. Optimization of the experimental conditions was described. The calibration graph was linear in the concentration range of 0.1 – 2.0 ?g mL-1 paracetamol with a molar absorptivity of 6.9 × 104 L mol-1 cm-1. The method was successfully applied to the determination of paracetamol in pharmaceutical preparations without any interference from common excipients. The method has been statistically evaluated with British Pharmacopoeia method and no statistical difference between methods was found at the 95% confidence level.

IntroductionImmediate diagnosis of stroke is crucial in reducing its morbidity and mortality rate. There are various pre-hospital assessment tools, such as the Prehospital Ambulance Stroke Test (PreHAST) and the Cincinnati Prehospital Stroke Scale (CPSS) used to identify stroke early in the chain of care. The aim of this study is to compare the accuracy of PreHAST with CPSS in diagnosing stroke.MethodsIn this diagnostic accuracy study patients with suspicion of stroke were included in this study. In CPSS, the criterion used to indicate stroke are facial droop, speech and arm drift. In PreHAST it is eye position, visual field, facial palsy, right and left arms paresis, right and left legs paresis, sensory and speech. After data collection, sensitivity and specificity were calculated using standard formulae. Different cut-off points for the best diagnostic accuracy were examined in both CPSS and PreHAST.ResultsIn this study, 883 patients were investigated. The results demonstrated that in CPSS, the highest specificity and sensitivity was for facial droop (84.9%) and arm drift (82.7%); and in PreHAST it was eye position (99.6%) and facial palsy (49.2%). The best predictor of stroke in CPSS with highest sensitivity (78.5%) and specificity (66%) was a cut-off point of 1.5 (AUC: 0.744) (p<0.01(. In PreHAST, the highest sensitivity (68.4%) was a cut-off point of 2.5 and the highest specificity (90.2%) was a cut-off point of 5.5 (AUC: 0.775) (p<0.01).ConclusionBoth PreHAST and CPSS are useful screening tools in the pre-hospital diagnosis of stroke. In addition to high sensitivity, these tests provide a grading system in which higher cut-off points lead to higher specificity.

Quality of the components in the mechanical engineering is of the utmost importance. Most of quality control procedures can be provided by advanced quality assurance methods that enable visualization of inner structure of a component within all of the occurring defects. This paper suggests an innovative post-processing technique for Full-Matrix ultrasonic imaging with Matrix phased arrays in the case of immersion testing. Evaluation of the reliability was performed by simulation via CIVA software as well as by experimental testing of a real component with given defects. The obtained results of the research demonstrated high sensitivity and accuracy of the suggested technique.
