In the past several years, huge investments have been made in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and related applications. While the integrated database and data warehouse in such systems provides value, more value could be realized if the databases could more semantically reflect the underlying reality of the organization. Inter-enterprise commerce can be facilitated with the use of ontologically based systems with common semantics (Geerts and McCarthy, 2000; Haugen and McCarthy, 2000) instead of reliance on electronic data interchange (EDI) standards. This chapter presents a normative semantic model for enterprise information systems that has its roots in transaction processing information systems. Empirical research on semantically modeled information systems is reviewed and an example company’s semantic model is provided as a proof of concept. This model is used as the basis for a discussion of its application to ERP systems and to inter-organizational systems. Future trends and research directions are also discussed.

School information system is a system that provides information to support the operational, management, and decision making functions of an organization. Information sources within the information system that support day-to-day management operations such as transaction processing, status clarification, and so forth. School information systems generally consist of a variety of systems, including academic, financial, library and staffing systems. With a variety of systems in a school information system, it is necessary to integrate between systems aimed at avoiding data duplication in each system and increase system flexibility which can be achieved by utilizing web service technology. The purpose of this research is to design a web service on information systems schools that comply with the National Education Standards (SNP) use the REST web service architecture. The results of the development of an information system web service design that is by mapping class diagrams that will be made in the design of school web services by adding modules to JIBAS with the Minister of National Education Regulation in accordance with 8 BSNP standards.

The paper suggests the conception of a hybrid adaptive protection of information and telecommunication systems which is based on a biometaphor of nervous and neural networks. A top level of a protection system, based on an approach of “nervous system network” is a distributed mechanism for collecting and processing information. We suggest to implement the in formation processes on the low level with the assistance of an “information field” programming. It allows specifying the distributed information fields in the form of neural network software packages.

Many human activities related to information systems, whether consciously or not, information systems have helped many people. Keep in mind that information systems do not have to be complex. Simple information system. There are various objectives and benefits of information systems, among others: (1) Providing information (2) processing information (3) facilitating the administration system (4) managing content standards (5) managing graduate competency standards (6) managing standard facilities and infrastructure

State Elementary School 16 Bumi Ayu, is one of the primary schools in the city of Bengkulu is located at the highway Bumi Ayu Bengkulu city, the number of students reached 800 people. And teachers and employees 31 people. To improve human resources especially in the field of education, SD Negeri 16 Bumi Ayu has some routines one of which is the processing of employee data is done every semesterThe purpose of this research is to create a Data Processing Information Systems Officer On 16 SDN Bumi Ayu Using Visual Basic 6.0 programming language, so as to assist in data processing at SDN 16 Bumi Ayu. Where the research was conducted at the State Elementary School 16 Bumi Ayu is located at Jalan Raya Bumi Ayu. The timing of this research was conducted on 26 February to dengn March 26, 2016. In this study, data were collected by using observation, interviews, and literature. From the results of this study show that the presence of Employee Data Processing Information Systems using the programming language Visual Basic 6.0, can, provide significant benefits for the school

Abstract The accounting information systems (AIS) discipline lacks a sense of identity relative to the closely related field of management information systems (MIS). By identifying how AIS is evolving and what makes AIS unique from MIS, the field can gain a better understanding of its importance. We analyze a sample of syllabi for the introductory AIS and MIS courses, focusing on similarities and differences between the AIS and MIS fields as reflected in the topical coverage choices made by AIS and MIS educators. We also investigate the effects of the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act on topical coverage in the introductory AIS course. The findings reveal that while AIS courses have a unique focus on transaction processing and internal controls relative to MIS courses, more technical topics such as hardware and software issues and IS solutions are covered more commonly in MIS courses rather than AIS courses. We also find that AIS topical coverage has changed since the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, with a more pronounced focus on internal control and security compared to the pre-Sarbanes Oxley era. The key contribution of this paper is in providing empirical evidence in support of the “intersection view” of AIS, which asserts that while AIS and MIS have some topics in common there are also many issues unique to each field.

The article examines the problems of organization of the comprehensive statistical analysis using automated information systems for processing information of traffic accidents. To solve the problems the Multiparameter information-analytical system (MIAS) of monitoring, analysis and prediction of the situation in the field of road safety was developed. The system allows to estimate thresholds of situation indicators in the field of road safety as a subject of operational and annual information by using methods of statistical analysis. It is used as an information-analytical support of making decisions in the traffic police departments.

Transaction processing systems are primarily based on the relational model of data and offer the advantages of decades of research and experience in enforcing data quality through integrity constraints, allowing concurrent access and supporting recoverability. From a performance standpoint, they offer joins-based query optimization and data structures to promote fast reads and writes, but are usually vertically scalable from a hardware standpoint. NoSQL (Not Only SQL) systems follow different data representation formats than relations, such as key-value pairs, graphs, documents or column-families. They offer a flexible data representation format as well as horizontal hardware scalability so that Big Data can be processed in real time. In this review article, we review recent research on each type of system, and then discuss how teaching of NoSQL may be incorporated into traditional undergraduate database courses in information systems curricula.
