We evaluated the association of body mass index (BMI) with migraine and migraine specifics in a cross-sectional study of 63 467 women aged ≥ 45 years, of whom 12 613 (19.9%) reported any history of migraine and 9195 had active migraine. Compared with women without migraine and a BMI < 23 kg/m2, women with a BMI ≥ 35 kg/m2 had adjusted odds ratios (ORs) (95% confidence intervals) of 1.03 (0.95, 1.12) for any history of migraine. Findings were similar for active migraineurs. Women with a BMI of ≥ 35 kg/m2 had increased risk for low and high migraine frequency, with the highest estimate for women who reported daily migraine. Compared with women with the lowest associated risk (migraine frequency < 6 times/year; BMI between 27.0 and 29.9 kg/m2), women with a BMI ≥ 35 kg/m2 had an OR of daily migraine of 3.11 (1.12, 8.67). Among the women with active migraine, a BMI ≥ 35 kg/m2 was associated with increased risk of phonophobia and photophobia and decreased risk of a unilateral pain characteristic and migraine aura. Our data confirm previous findings that the association between BMI with migraine is limited to migraine frequency and specific migraine features.

Background: Hypertension is a common health issue all over the world; increased Body Mass Index (BMI) is alone one strong risk factor for the HTN. Objective: To assess the relationship between HTN & BMI in patients visited at department of Medicine PMCH Nawabshah. Methodology: This cross sectional study was conducted at PMC Hospital Nawabshah during March 2019 to February 2020. Sample size was 385. This study was conducted after ethical approval of institutional committee and willing male and female subjects with hypertension were included in present study after consent. Age ranges from 15 years and above. Those having other co morbidities like, DM, IHD, stroke and other metabolic and endocrine disorders were excluded from the study. Patients with history of drugs causing weight gain were also excluded. Results: there were total 385 subjects included, 130 were females and 245 were males1:2 ratio of female and male. Mean age of patients was 46.50 sd ± 8.65 years, mean BMI was 26.18 sd ± 4.73, mean systolic HTN was158.35sd ± 30.40 and mean diastolic blood pressure was 95.75 sd ± 12.91 mmHg. Conclusion: There is strong association between hypertension and BMI, as the BMI will increase the risk of HTN will increase.

Summary Objective: To verify the knowledge about food and nutrition and its association with the nutritional status of obese patients with noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), and to identify the relationship between information sources and level of knowledge. Method: Cross-sectional study that included 263 outpatients of a cardiology referral hospital in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The participants filled out a questionnaire on socioeconomic data and knowledge about food and nutrition and had their nutritional status evaluated by body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC) and waist-hip ratio (WHR). Results: BMI showed a significant inverse association with the percentage of correct answers (p=0.002), as well as WC (p=0.000) and WHR (p<0.001). This was also true for education (p<0.001) and female gender (p=0.005) compared to males. More than 60% of patients reported using television and 23% reported using newspaper as sources of nutritional information. Conclusion: Our study revealed a significant association between BMI and the level of knowledge about foods, showing that there is need for more information on obesity-related NCDs for greater understanding by patients.
