ABSTRACT We report the closed and annotated genome sequence of Sulfuriferula sp. strain AH1. Strain AH1 has a 2,877,007-bp chromosome that includes a partial Sox system for inorganic sulfur oxidation and a complete nitrogen fixation pathway. It also has a single 39,138-bp plasmid with genes for arsenic and mercury resistance.

Pseudomonas pseudoalcaligenes S1, a marine bacterium, exhibited strong resistance to a high concentration of Hg 2+ and remarkable Hg 2+ bioaccumulation capacity. Here, we report the 6.9-Mb genome sequence of P. pseudoalcaligenes S1, which may help clarify its phylogenetic status and provide further understanding of the mechanisms of mercury bioremediation in a marine environment.

ABSTRACT Rhizobium japonicum is a Gram-negative bacterium of interest for research into nitrogen fixation in legumes. This article describes the isolation, sequencing, and annotation of R. japonicum podophage Pasto. While it shows no significant similarity to identified phages, genomic analysis indicates that Pasto may be temperate and is a novel T7-like podophage.

ABSTRACT The complete genome of Acidianus manzaensis YN-25 consists of a chromosome of 2,687,463 bp, with a G+C content of 30.62% and 2,746 coding DNA sequences. This archaeon contains a series of specific genes involved in the oxidation of elemental sulfur and reduced inorganic sulfur compounds.

Here, we present the complete genome sequence of the widely studied strain Bradyrhizobium betae PL7HG1T, isolated from a tumor on the roots of sugar beet. The genome consists of a 7.2-Mbp circular chromosome containing key photosynthesis genes but not genes for nodulation and nitrogen fixation. A putative plasmid was also detected.

We report the complete genome sequence of Mucilaginibacter strain 21P, which was isolated from estuarine soil contaminated with mine tailings from the Samarco disaster, which occurred in 2015 in Brazil. The genome sequence comprised 4,739,655 bp, with a G+C content of 43.2%, and harbors multiple antibiotic and metal resistance genes.

We report the complete 4.1-Mb genome sequence of strain BW-2, a magnetotactic, sulfur-oxidizing rod, belonging to the family Ectothiorhodospiraceae of the class Gammaproteobacteria, that biomineralizes membrane-bounded magnetite nanocrystals in its magnetosomes. This genome sequence, in comparison with those of other magnetotactic bacteria, is essential for understanding the origin and evolution of magnetotaxis and magnetosome biomineralization.

Abstract Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans YNTRS-40 ( A. ferrooxidans ) is a chemolithoautotrophic aerobic bacterium isolated from Tengchong, Yunnan Province, China and with a broad growth pH range of 1.0-4.5. This study reported the genome sequence of this strain and the information of genes related to the adaptation of diverse stresses and the oxidation of ferrous iron and sulfur. Results showed that YNTRS-40 possesses chromosomal DNA (3,209,933-bp) and plasmid DNA (47,104-bp). The complete genome of 3,257,037-bp was consist of 3349 CDS genes comprising 6 rRNAs, 52 tRNAs and 6 ncRNAs. There are many encoded genes associated with diverse stresses adaptation and ferrous iron and sulfur oxidation such as rus operon, res operon, pet Ⅰ , pet Ⅱ , sqr gene, doxDA , cydAB and cyoABCD . This study will provide essential information for further application of A. ferrooxidans YNTRS-40 in industry.
