Many Staphylococcus and Pseudomonas species, such as Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa , are opportunistic human pathogens. However, Pseudomonas species are also known to produce bioactive compounds. Here, we report on the genome sequences of a Pseudomonas isolate and a Staphylococcus species of unknown origin that it inhibits.

ABSTRACT Aspergillus fungi in section Fumigati include important human pathogens. Here, we sequenced the genomes of two strains of Aspergillus hiratsukae and two strains of Aspergillus felis. The average genome sizes are 29.5 Mb for A. hiratsukae and 31.8 Mb for A. felis.

Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most common etiological agents responsible for contagious bovine mastitis. Here, we report the draft whole-genome sequences, with annotations, of 27 S. aureus strains and 3 Staphylococcus species strains that were isolated from Holstein cows with intramammary infection in Canada.

ABSTRACT Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus sequence type 72 (ST72) is prevalent in South Korea and has shown resistance to multiple antimicrobials. ST72 isolates display different levels of resistance to the antistaphylococcal lysostaphin. Draft genome sequencing of ST72 human isolates exhibiting lysostaphin resistance or susceptibility was performed to better understand the mechanism of lysostaphin resistance using subtractive genomics.

ABSTRACT Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the most common model bacterial species, and genomes of hundreds of strains of this species have been sequenced to date. However, currently there is only one available genome of an oceanic isolate. Here, we report two complete and six draft genome sequences of P. aeruginosa isolates from the open ocean.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the major cause of bacterial keratitis, a sight-threatening ocular infection that can occur in contact lens wearers, as well as in others. Here, we report the draft genomes of 8 different P. aeruginosa corneal isolates, adding to the list of publicly available corneal infection-associated P. aeruginosa genomes.

Biofilms produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa present a serious threat to cystic fibrosis patients. Here, we report the draft genome sequences of four cystic fibrosis isolates displaying various mucoid and biofilm phenotypes. The estimated average genome size was about 6,255,986 ± 50,202 bp with a mean G+C content of 66.52 ± 0.06%.

ABSTRACT Livestock-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (LA-MRSA) is a bacterium carried by or obtained from swine and other livestock. The initial and predominant swine-associated LA-MRSA sequence type (ST) identified is ST398. Here, we present 14 draft genome sequences from LA-MRSA ST398 isolates found in the United States.
