ABSTRACT Pseudomonas sp. strains 29A and 43A were originally isolated from the phyllosphere of individual plants of Cardamine cordifolia (Brassicaceae). Here, we report complete genome sequences for these two closely related strains, assembled using a hybrid approach combining Illumina paired-end reads and longer reads sequenced on an Oxford Nanopore MinION flow cell.

Here, we describe the complete genome sequences of two Bordetella pertussis strains, FR5810, a clinical isolate recovered from the respiratory tract of an infant, and Tohama, a key reference strain for the species. Sequences were obtained using a hybrid approach combining Oxford Nanopore Technologies MinION and Illumina NextSeq 500 sequence data.

Pseudomonas coronafaciens pv. oryzae 1_6 was originally isolated as a phytopathogen of rice. Here, we report a complete genome sequence for this strain, containing a circular chromosome and one circular plasmid, assembled using a hybrid approach combining Illumina paired-end reads and longer reads sequenced on an Oxford Nanopore Flongle flow cell.

We report here the complete genome sequences of three Bacillus cereus group strains isolated from blood cultures from premature and immunocompromised infants hospitalized in intensive care units in three French hospitals. These complete genome sequences were obtained from a combination of Illumina HiSeq X Ten short reads and Oxford Nanopore MinION long reads.

ABSTRACT In total, 12 quinolone-resistant Escherichia coli (QREC) strains containing qnrS1 were submitted to long-read sequencing using a FLO-MIN106 flow cell on a MinION device. The long reads were assembled with short reads (Illumina) and analyzed using the MOB-suite pipeline. Six of these QREC genome sequences were closed after hybrid assembly.

Two Gram-negative bacteria with a high G+C content were isolated from soil in undergraduate microbiology classes by enriching for low nutrient growth and neonicotinoid pesticide tolerance. DNA from these isolates was purified and sequenced using a hybrid approach. Here we report the genome sequences of Pseudomonas alkylphenolica strain Neo and Variovorax sp. strain CSUSB.

ABSTRACT The genome sequences of 5 bacterial strains isolated from apple flower stigmas are reported. The strains represent species of Curtobacterium, Pantoea, and Erwinia and two species of Pseudomonas. These data will provide information for future taxonomic studies and information for investigating the metabolic and functional characteristics of apple flower-colonizing bacteria.

Staphylococcus arlettae is one coagulase-negative species in the bacterial genus Staphylococcus. Here, we describe the closed complete genome sequence of S. arlettae strain P2, which was obtained using a hybrid approach combining Oxford Nanopore long-read and Illumina MiSeq short-read sequencing data.

Neisseria gonorrhoeae is the etiological agent of gonorrhea, the second most common notifiable disease in the United States. Here, we used a hybrid approach combining Oxford Nanopore Technologies MinION and Illumina MiSeq sequencing data to obtain closed genome sequences of nine clinical N. gonorrhoeae isolates.

Soil bacteria can be a valuable source of antimicrobial compounds. Here, we report the complete genomes of four soil bacteria that were isolated by undergraduate microbiology students as part of a course-based research experience. These genomes were assembled using a hybrid approach combining paired-end Illumina reads with Oxford Nanopore Technologies MinION reads.

ABSTRACT Vibrio campbellii is a pathogen of aquatic animals and has been proposed as a bacterial partner in the formation of bioluminescent milky seas. We present here the complete genome sequences assembled from Illumina and Oxford Nanopore data for two bioluminescent Vibrio campbellii strains (BoB-53 and BoB-90) isolated from biofouled moorings in the Bay of Bengal.
