Invariant action for a new kind of (anisotropic) WZW model has been constructed using the co-adjoint orbit approach and the affine anistropic algebra suggested by Sidorenko. The Alekseev-Shatashvili type of equation is used to construct the corresponding symplectic form. The present model is similar in many aspects to the WZW model on a Riemann surface.

The extrinsic geometry of N=1 world-sheet supersymmetry is studied through generalized super-Gauss map. The world sheet, realized as a conformally immersed super-Riemann surface S in Rn (n=3 is studied for simplicity) is mapped into the supersymmetric Grassmannian G2,3. In order for the Grassmannian fields to form (super) tangent planes to S, certain integrability conditions are satisfied by G2,n fields. These conditions are explicitly derived. The supersymmetric invariant action for the Kähler σ-model G2,3 is reexpressed in terms of the world-sheet coordinates, thereby an off-shell supersymmetric generalization of the action proportional to the extrinsic curvature of the immersed surface is obtained.

The complex variety [Formula: see text] has a natural holomorphic symplectic structure. On the other hand, for any ℓ ≥ 1, the Liouville symplectic from on the total space of KX defines a holomorphic symplectic structure on the Hilbert scheme Hilb ℓ(KX) parametrizing the zero-dimensional subschemes of KX. We relate the symplectic form on Hilb ℓ(KX) with the symplectic form on [Formula: see text].

Abstract. Prospective Memory (PM; i.e., the ability to remember to perform planned tasks) represents a key proxy of healthy aging, as it relates to older adults’ everyday functioning, autonomy, and personal well-being. The current review illustrates how PM performance develops across the lifespan and how multiple cognitive and non-cognitive factors influence this trajectory. Further, a new, integrative framework is presented, detailing how those processes interplay in retrieving and executing delayed intentions. Specifically, while most previous models have focused on memory processes, the present model focuses on the role of executive functioning in PM and its development across the lifespan. Finally, a practical outlook is presented, suggesting how the current knowledge can be applied in geriatrics and geropsychology to promote healthy aging by maintaining prospective abilities in the elderly.

Abstract The paper is concerned with the problem of gravitational wave propagation in water of variable depth. The problem is solved numerically by applying an element-free Galerkin method. First, the proposed model is validated by comparing its predictions with experimental data for the plane flow in water of uniform depth. Then, as illustrations, results of numerical simulations performed for plane gravity waves propagating through a region with a sloping bed are presented. These results show the evolution of the free-surface elevation, displaying progressive steepening of the wave over the sloping bed, followed by its attenuation in a region of uniform depth. In addition, some of the results of the present model are compared with those obtained earlier by using the conventional finite element method.

The conformational behaviour of a series of N-substituted thiohydantoins of proline was studied by proton NMR. The pseudorotational parameters of the proline moiety were calculated from the ten vicinal proton-proton coupling constants assuming a two state equilibrium (N ⇋ S). The effect of the different substituents (methyl, phenyl, para-nitrophenyl) at the thiohydantoin nitrogen on the conformation of the pyrrolidine rings is discussed. The spectra of proline-N-methylthiohydantoin were recorded at different temperatures in octadeuterotoluene solution. The conformational analysis of these spectra showed that the ratio of the populations of the N and S forms changes considerably with temperature, while the conformational identity of both the N and S forms remains strictly preserved. These facts provide an additional experimental justification of the two-state assumption, at least so for the present model compounds.

In this study, the effect of crack on free vibration of a large deflected cantilever plate, which forms the case of a pre-stressed curved plate, is investigated. A distributed load is applied at the free edge of a thin cantilever plate. Then, the loading edge of the deflected plate is fixed to obtain a pre-stressed curved plate. The large deflection equation provides the non - linear deflection curve of the large deflected flexible plate. The thin curved plate is modeled by using the finite element method with a four-node quadrilateral element. Three different aspect ratios are used to examine the effect of crack. The effect of crack and its location on the natural frequency parameter is given in tables and graphs. Also, the natural frequency parameters of the present model are compared with the finite element software results to verify the reliability and validity of the present model. This study shows that the different mode shapes are occurred due to the change of load parameter, and these different mode shapes cause a change in the effect of crack.

In this paper, a shear stiffness model for corrugated-core sandwich structures is proposed. The bonding area is discussed independently. The core is thought to be hinged on the skins with torsional stiffness. The analytical model was verified by FEM solution. Compared with the previous studies, the new model can predict the valley point of the shear stiffness at which the relationship between the shear stiffness and the angle of the core changes from negative correlation to positive correlation. The valley point increases when the core becomes stronger. For the structure with a angle of the core smaller than counterpart for the valley point, the existing analytical formulations may significantly underestimate the shear stiffness of the structure with strong skins. The results obtained by some previous models may be only 10 persent of that of the present model, which is supported by the FEM model.
