AbstractThe cell cycle is the process by which eukaryotic cells replicate. Yeast cells cycle asynchronously with each cell in the population budding at a different time. Although there are several experimental approaches to synchronise cells, these usually work only in the short-term. Here, we build a cyber-genetic system to achieve long-term synchronisation of the cell population, by interfacing genetically modified yeast cells with a computer by means of microfluidics to dynamically change medium, and a microscope to estimate cell cycle phases of individual cells. The computer implements a controller algorithm to decide when, and for how long, to change the growth medium to synchronise the cell-cycle across the population. Our work builds upon solid theoretical foundations provided by Control Engineering. In addition to providing an avenue for yeast cell cycle synchronisation, our work shows that control engineering can be used to automatically steer complex biological processes towards desired behaviours similarly to what is currently done with robots and autonomous vehicles.

The research aims to measure and analyze the determinants of investment in the Iraqi economy and study the theoretical foundations of investment and analyze the viewpoint of the most important schools of economic thought regarding investment and investment determinants and their effects on economic activity , and by using possible standard models as the results of standard analysis using the joint integration tests of time series . cointegration tests, they have proven the existence of a long-term equilibrium relationship according to the methodology of the results of estimating the short and long-term parameters and the error correction parameter(ECM) , it is moving from a set of explanatory variables towards The dependent variable, while the value of the error correction vector coefficient was negative and significant , as it reached (-0.59%) , which means the fulfillment of the two basic conditions in this parameter , namely : its negative value and the statistical significance . This means that (0.59) of the short-term errors are automatically corrected during the unit of time (year) to reach the equilibrium in the long term, meaning that the investment requires about less then a year (1.6) , that is , approximately a year and 6 days to reach its equilibrium value in the long term , In other words , the previous period deviates from the long-term equilibrium and is corrected in the current by (59%) . This indicates that the adjustment in the model was relatively fast .

ABSTRACTThe cell cycle is the process by which eukaryotic cells replicate. Yeast cells cycle asynchronously with each cell in the population budding at a different time. The focus of this study was on the relevance of trust, satisfaction and commitment in maintaining a long-term relationship (intention to stay) with an exchange partner in a Business-to-Business (B2B) context in the financial services industry. The perceptions of 238 B2B clients of a leading South African provider of development capital were investigated. Since support could not be found for the existence of trust, commitment and satisfaction as distinct individual dimensions, this study provides empirical support for the amalgamation of some well-established individual dimensions into broader, more holistic dimensions as drivers of long-term relationship building.Contrary to expectations, B2B banking clients participating in this study appeared to regroup individual dimensions, in a heuristic fashion, to form new dimensions that influenced their attitude towards staying in a B2B relationship. As a result, building long-term marketing relationships seems to be a less complicated process than previously thought. Against this background, the primary contribution of the study is that it highlights the need for marketing practitioners to reconsider their current relationship-marketing strategies. As the findings of the study are inconsistent with conventional wisdom, they also challenge marketing academics to reconsider the theoretical foundations of relationship building in a B2B context.

By applying Yin and Graham’s one-dimensional (1-D) equivalent-time rheological model, which can predict both primary and secondary settlement, the expressions for calculating the long-term subsoil settlement under rectangular or semi-sinusoidal repeated loading of low amplitude are obtained without considering the fluid–solid coupling. A property has been proven that ultimate settlement of clay is independent of stress increasing history under 1-D conditions. According to this property, the expressions are derived considering the solid–fluid coupling to approximately calculate the long-term total settlement and the long-term settlement of soft subsoil clay after construction of the road embankment. Because the expressions of the long-term settlement are analytical solutions in the present paper, they can not only avoid cumulative calculation errors in the numerical analysis, but also have more solid theoretical foundations than empirical equations.

The purpose of the research is to deepen the theoretical foundations of financial stability as a factor in shaping the fiscal space of local budgets and substantiate the methodological tools for assessing the financial stability of local budgets of Ukraine in the medium and long term. Methods. The following research methods were used in analysing the problem: induction, deduction, system approach, statistical analysis, logical generalization, graphical method. Results. Fiscal extension gives the opportunities to local authorities to obtain and use extra budget resources for achieving the goal taking into account the restrictions caused by the necessity to maintain the financial sustainability in mid- and long-term periods. A methodological toolkit for assessing the financial sustainability of local budgets in mid- and long-term periods is proposed. The complex of arguments for the appropriate applying of the estimation of financial sustainability of local budgets in the national practice using the methodology of the European Commission in the mid-term period is given. It is substantiated that the development of strategic directions for ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of local budgets in Ukraine should take place with the use of foresight. It is substantiated that the fiscal space provides opportunities for local governments to obtain and use extra budgetary resources to achieve a certain goal, taking into account the constraints due to the need to maintain financial stability in the medium- and long-term periods.  Methodical tools for assessing the financial stability of local budgets in the medium- and long-term periods are proposed.  A set of arguments on the expediency of applying the methodology of the European Commission in the medium-term period in the native practice of calculating the financial stability of local budgets is presented.  It is substantiated that the development of strategic directions to ensure long-term financial stability of local budgets of Ukraine should take place using foresight. Practical meaning. The practical significance of the obtained results is in the possibility of using methodological tools to assess the effectiveness of local budget sustainability management by state and local authorities in developing and making management decisions to regulate the level of financial stability of local budgets. Prospects for further research. The formation of theoretical foundations of financial stability as a factor in the formation of the fiscal space of local budgets and substantiation of methodological tools for their assessment in the medium and long term periods confirms the need for further scientific substantiation of strategic directions of long-term financial stability of local budgets in Ukraine under the condition of decentralization.

The economically effective method for determining the unknown parameters of the dependence of the durability of structural materials on the level of acting constant stresses in them and their absolute temperature for various structural materials is proposed, taking into account the data established by Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences S.N. Zhurkov. It does not require long-term testing of materials, but is based on the use of the results of short-term standard machine failure of two groups of standard samples of materials at two significantly different temperatures. When using these parameters and the Bailey integral criterion for summing up the losses in the durability of materials, it is possible to calculate the endurance of elements of road bridge structures from any structural materials and to determine the residual durability resource of the structure under the predicted subsequent mode of loading it with real temporary vertical loads.
