In this paper, a multimedia-based English pronunciation learning system was designed. On this basis, a self-adaptive learning mode which consists of the teaching mode and the independent learning mode was proposed. The self-adaptive teaching model uses corpus technology and covers the exploratory “3I” (Illustration-Interaction-Induction) teaching model, thereby changing the traditional teaching pattern of “spoon-feeding”; when it comes to the independent learning mode, the self-adaptive system can automatically set corresponding learning tasks according to the learning situation of students, to improve the autonomy and differences of students’ self-learning. At the same time, the approach of comparative teaching was especially adopted to test the validity of this system and the learning mode. Specifically, the exquisite course of “English Literature” for students of Grade 2015 majoring in English was selected as the experimental group, to compare with the learning situation of their counterparts of Grade 2014 in the last year. The results show that the learning mode is remarkable in its teaching practicality, could bring a significant effect on improving teaching efficiency and students’ independent learning ability, and enjoys a high research value and a promising application prospect.

Intelligent Guided Learning System (ITS) is a computer system that uses computers to imitate the experience and methods of teaching experts to assist in teaching; ITS provides learners with personalized learning resources and adaptive teaching methods, thus reducing students’ dependence on teachers and realizing independent learning. After years of research and development, and with the help of artificial intelligence technology, ITS has basically formed a stable structure and unified implementation specifications and has given birth to many excellent products in disciplines such as basic computer, language, medicine, and mathematics. Based on the above background, this paper takes the system structure of universal ITS as the basis, combines the characteristics of music sight-singing subject in teaching contents and teaching methods, researches the intelligent guidance system model of music sight-singing, and completes the design of the overall system architecture. The specific strategies and implementation methods of the teaching methods, resource recommendation, and ability assessment components of the teaching model are studied. The research includes the definition of the difficulty characteristics of the score, the design of the score recommendation algorithm, the design of the sight-singing scoring algorithm, and the experimental analysis of each algorithm. It is proposed that the difficulty feature-based score recommendation algorithm is the core component of resource recommendation in the teacher model, and the sight-singing scoring algorithm is the basis for ability assessment and learner model update.

e-Learning has become the most important supporting tool offering independent learning style among students. The main idea of this paper is to dismantle and analyse factors that influence the acceptance of e-Learning among students in higher education.  An online questionnaire link was distributed to a sample comprising 123 respondents. Significant relationships and strength of relationship were observed between the e-Learning acceptance, quality, e-Learning self-efficacy, enjoyment, accessibility, and computer playfulness. The findings showed that all factors were positively correlated to the e-Learning system except the enjoyment of e-learning that did not affect the acceptance of e-learning. Conclusively, all factors stated were considered the main criteria in designing effective e-learning system. Future works such as embedding and integrating multimedia elements in the e-learning system will be additional attraction to learners and instructors for the effective learning style.

This study aimed to determine how Google Classroom enhanced English language learning in students' English at the Faculty of Literature and Humanities in the online learning system during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research was a classroom action research (CAR) conducted from March to July 2020. Classroom action research consists of four stages; planning, actions, observation, and reflection. It is better to fix this section as follows: The stage; teacher planning (preparation and pre-test), action (teaching by using Google Classroom), observation (Classroom observation), and reflection (personal reflection and post-test). The features of LMS Google Classroom promote the development of independent learners in which students can be triggered to access the information in any place and time. This research shows that the LMS Google Classroom learning model is considered an effective learning model to enhance independent learning. Data of the Speaking test has described in finding that there is significance increasing from pre-test to post-test. The score increased from 1103 in the pre-test to 1618 in the post-test. It shows an increase in mean score from 36.7667 in the pre-test to 54.1467 in the post-test. E-Learning is running well, especially for speaking classes. By using LMS Google Classroom in English teaching can help students to improve their English skills. Teaching English by implementing Learning Management System Google Classroom at the university can effectively improve students' English competency, where almost all students agree to this point. Twenty-five students agreed that this learning model could improve the students’ competencies, and only one student disagrees. For speaking teaching that some of the students disagree with using LMS Google Classroom, six students gave a negative response, and 24 agreed. The analysis results showed that the English Literature Study Program students at the Islamic University of Makassar responded well when their lecturer used LMS Google Classroom in the learning process.

The research examined the assessments and the comments provided by Binus University freshmen students concerning their study experiences of taking University English Entrant as part of their compulsory English course program at Binus during the odd semester of 2010/2011. The goals of the research were to find out whether such program had been useful and effective for these students in terms of the teaching quality, course contents, and independent learning system commonly applied at Binus University. The research applied the technique of qualitative approach with the focus on finding the general feedback of these students in evaluating the program based on free-response data. In the initial stage of the research, the writer selected the random sample of four to five English Entrant classes ranging from small to large number of students. The writer then distributed the questionnaires to the subjects. After the data had been collected, the writer tabulated, summarized, and interpreted the data in the discussion. The final result indicates that communicative teachers are always the best preference; communicative tasks that put emphasis on fluency and clarity, rather than accuracy, have always been appreciated highly; and feedback in learning is highly expected for the independent learning system.

Instructional media is a major element of the active learning process. Active learning emphasizes the activities of students in accessing information from various sources, to be discussed in the learning process in the classroom, experiences that not only increase knowledge, but also the ability of analysis and synthesis. Students are required to play a more active role in developing independent learning methods, starting from planning, implementing and evaluating the learning process. The use of statistical media must be equipped with a task sheet so that students remain active and critical learners. The well-designed web-based media development has the potential to become a virtual lab as a meaningful and interesting center for statistical learning. One of the subjects in D3 Informatics Engineering curriculum is statistical and probability. Hearing statistical words like specter must be learned. Statistics is a subject that studies descriptive statistics that focus more on describing data and inferential statistics that are more focused on testing statistical data so that they draw conclusions from questions that want to be followed. Modules as one of the teaching materials have one characteristic is the principle of independent learning. Based on the description, the researcher conducted a research on the development of a practical module testing hypotheses using SPSS 20 in the statistics and probability courses to achieve the planned learning goals, namely skilled in testing hypotheses using valid testing methods according to the characteristics of the research sample. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded: (1) The online learning system that has been created can be utilized by lecturers and students to manage lectures on the use of SPSS online which can be accessed through the internet in general. The address to access the system is http://sinau-bareng-statistika.000webhostapp.com, (2) The implementation of lectures using the online learning system will provide benefits both directly and indirectly to lecturers and students.

We introduce a constructive, incremental learning system for regression problems that models data by means of spatially localized linear models. In contrast to other approaches, the size and shape of the receptive field of each locally linear model, as well as the parameters of the locally linear model itself, are learned independently, that is, without the need for competition or any other kind of communication. Independent learning is accomplished by incrementally minimizing a weighted local cross-validation error. As a result, we obtain a learning system that can allocate resources as needed while dealing with the bias-variance dilemma in a principled way. The spatial localization of the linear models increases robustness toward negative interference. Our learning system can be interpreted as a nonparametric adaptive bandwidth smoother, as a mixture of experts where the experts are trained in isolation, and as a learning system that profits from combining independent expert knowledge on the same problem. This article illustrates the potential learning capabilities of purely local learning and offers an interesting and powerful approach to learning with receptive fields.
