Shelley Taylor's autobiographical interview (conducted by Annual Review of Psychology Editor and long-time collaborator Susan Fiske) touches on some of her favorite ideas. For example, positive illusions: “The traditional textbook definition of mental health included the stipulation that people see the world accurately, and what we were suggesting is that actually, a lot of times, people don't see the world accurately. They see it with a positive spin on it.” She also discusses how to found fields (social cognition, health psychology, and social neuroscience) and the challenges of boundary crossing (from social to biological). Her practical comments describe the joy of teaching methods, running a lab, and being a solo female. The interview ends with her advice to follow your instincts about the next big idea: “Trusting your own ideas is a very important way of coming up with a research program that is novel and exciting, and that ultimately wins people over.”

During the pandemic, many countries go through a period of so-called “self-isolation” or quarantine, during which people are forced for a long time not to see their loved ones, not to visit places of importance to them and experiencing constant anxiety and uncertainty due to changing living conditions. This has had a very negative impact on most people’s mental state. Analyzing data from many countries around the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) notes that the fear, loneliness, isolation, stress and anxiety experienced by all people during the COVID-19 pandemic can cause great mental health problems and countries need to be prepared for them. Metaanalysis of studies evaluating the prevalence of mental and behavioral disorders, self-harming behavior, acts of family violence, and problematic substance use in the COVID-19 pandemic show that depression, drug and alcohol addiction, self-harm and suicidal behavior are expected to increase, requiring increased preparedness by mental health services.

Sometimes it’s important to simply say the words … as it is in the beginning of wisdom that is the definition of terms. When historians look at the world of project management, what will they say that we have said about climate change? Certainly more general—but absolutely legitimate—terms such as ‘sustainability’ have been used, but in a basic term search in the 3 oldest project management journals, I was surprised to see only a few dozen uses of ‘climate change’ as a specific term. Theconversation started a long time ago using those words, and PMRP would like to encourage more with this commentary on one of the central topics of this journal … climate change.

One of the stated objectives of this series, the Annual Review of Applied Linguistics (ARAL), from its earliest apperance, has been to strive toward a gradual approximation of a functional definition for applied linguistics. Despite the fact that applied linguistics has existed as a field for more than thirty years, despite the fact that there are a few publications available which attempt to define the field (Kaplan 1980, Grabe and Kaplana in press, Bright, et al. in press), and despite the fact that there are in the world a number of universities offering graduate study in applied linguistics and rewarding such study with credentials and degrees carrying the specific desgination applied linguistics, the field remains constrained by the absence of a clear definition of its parameters and by the absence of a clear theoretical framework.

The teaching process requires a set of principles on which it is based in order to achieve what is necessary, regardless of the methods employed. However, the exceptional situation that the world is currently experiencing following the spread of COVID 19 has imposed profound changes and even upheavals at the level of teaching methods and practices which have transformed in a way. As a result, the majority of teachers also wonders and worries mainly through Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to communicate with the student and transmit information to him. Consequently, several difficulties, concerning the provision of ICT and their mastery, the mode of carrying out this type of teaching, the organization of time ..., had repercussions which impacted the mental health of the teacher. And upset his psycho-sociological balance by causing him a set of psychological disorders such as: stress, anxiety, frustration ... So to what extent the COVID 19 could have affected the mental health of the teacher during his practice of distance education?
