Students integrate knowledge acquisition and practical work in the laboratory

The aim of the present work was to transfer a wider concept of teamwork and self-learning to the laboratory, encouraging students' capabilities when seeking, acquiring, and processing knowledge. This educational innovation was carried out with a total of 38 students (fourth year of degree in Biology) in the area of physiology (Advances in Reproduction course) at University of Córdoba in Córdoba, Spain. The design of the project's application methodology consisted of establishing a way in which problems would be tackled in the practical classes. For this purpose, the different tasks were set up so that students could relate them to the concepts learned in the theory classes. On the first day of class, the project was presented to the students. Groups of two to three students worked in the laboratory and set up an outline of the protocol of the practical work that they had done. This outline was performed individually and sent to the lecturers through a learning management system (Moodle). The teachers gave feedback and assessed student submissions. Upon finishing the course, students completed a survey. The project-based learning method promotes practical self-learning on the part of students. This methodology demonstrated to us that it stimulates a critical and self-critical capacity in students, both individually and in groups, and that writing didactic practical material helped students to enhance their theory knowledge. The experiment was a success in view of the scores obtained upon finishing the subject.

<strong></strong><p class="05Abstrak">Abstract</p><p class="06IsiAbstrak">Research on Distance Learning Management (PJJ) in the subject of Islamic Religious Education and Characteristics aims to identify distance learning management conducted on Islamic Education and BP SMP teachers in Tegal City. The distance learning management studied includes the Learning Management System (LMS) and PJJ Applications, the approaches and methods used, as well as the implications for competency attainment and the problems encountered. The Learning Management System and applications used are Google Classroom, WhatsApp, Google Form, Google Meeting, Zoom Cloud Meeting, and AGPAII Digital. The approach used is a scientific approach with the method of Problem Based Learning, Project Based Learning, Inquiry, and Discovery Learning. The implication of distance learning that is carried out is related to the achievement of students' competencies, including Attitude, Spiritual, Social, Knowledge and Skill Competencies. The training was carried out to overcome the problems faced, namely training on the use of LMS and PJJ applications, training on distance learning methods, and training on making ICT-based teaching materials. Effective communication with parents is needed in order to achieve competency attainment.</p><p class="061AbstrakIndonesia">Abstrak</p>Penelitian Manajemen Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh (PJJ) pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi manajemen pembelajaran jarak jauh  yang dilakukan pada guru PAI dan BP SMP di Kota Tegal. Manajeman pembelajaran jarak jauh  yang diteliti meliputi Learning Management Sytem (LMS) dan Aplikasi PJJ, pendekatan dan metode yang digunakan, serta  implikasi terhadap ketercapaian kompetensi dan permasalahan yang ditemui. Learning Management Sytem dan aplikasi yang digunakan adalah Google Classroom, WhatsApp, Google Form, Google Meeting, Zoom Cloud Meeting, dan AGPAII Digital. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan saintifik dengan metode Problem Based Learning, Project Based Learning, Inquiry, dan Discovery Learning. Implikasi dari pembelajaran jarak jauh yang dilakukan berhubungan dengan ketercapaian kompetensi peserta didik, meliputi Kompetensi Sikap, yakni Spiritual dan Sosial, Pengetahuan, dan Ketrampilan. Pelatihan dilakukan untuk mengatasi permasalahan yang dihadapi, yaitu Pelatihan penggunaan LMS dan Aplikasi PJJ, Pelatihan metode pembelajaran jarak jauh, dan pelatihan pembuatan bahan ajar berbasis TIK. Komunikasi efektif dengan orang tua diperlukan guna mencapai ketercapaian kompetensi.

The results of the observation showed that there were still many students in histology subjects who did not yet have critical thinking competencies and maximum histology concept. The purpose of this study was to find out how project-based learning through blended learning can develop critical thinking skills and student histology concept. This type of research is classroom action research. The sample of this study was students of class C histology class 2018/2019 as many as 35 students of Malang Muhammadiyah University. The research method is in the form of observation, interviews, and tests. The learning management system used in this research blended learning uses Edmodo. The results showed that there was a change in the improvement of critical thinking skills and student histology concept from cycle I to cycle II. Critical thinking skills in the cycle I showed that 23% were complete and 77% were non-complete, while the cycle II was 80% complete and 20% non-compete. Critical thinking skills from cycle I to cycle II increased by 57%. Histology concept in the cycle I found 69% complete and 31% non-complete, while the cycle II was 100% complete and 0% non-complete. Histology concept from cycle I to cycle II increased by 31%. Based on this, project-based learning through blended learning can develop critical thinking skills and student histology concept.

Currently, several universities are using the learning management system (LMS) application for administration, documentation, activity reporting, learning activity implementation, and online assignments. SIAKAD is a learning management system application that has been implemented at STIKOM Poltek Cirebon. At SIAKAD, students and lecturers can download and upload materials, view course data and schedule data. However, in SIAKAD there are several features that are still not fulfilled, such as checking attendance data and recapitulation, task recapitulation and automation of calculating final course grades. In this study the Lemskom Poltek Cirebon application was designed using the Asynchronous Learning method. Which aims to complement features that do not exist in SIAKAD. In the Lemskom Poltek Cirebon application, which is designed using the Asynchronous method, it is very appropriate because this method is not based on time and place and is very good at helping in the learning process. So that students can see for themselves the course schedule, their attendance data, and the assignments given by the lecturer at anytime and anywhere along with the information and values they get. Lecturers can see the recapitulation of attendance, and recapitulation of assignments as well as details of what grades are in the courses they teach in more detail and can calculate the final grade automatically.

Even though it is acknowledged culture pervades learning and that emotions and context play a significant role in the learning process, Eurocentric instructional design models are based solely on cognitive, social and pedagogical approaches. These approaches do not contextualize the learning experience, i.e. they do not address cultural conceptuality (Cliver, 2013). Knowing a wide range of cultural influences impact on the engagement and success of adult learners, learning environments need to encourage learners to acknowledge and validate their cultural being. This identity – knowing who they are, where they come from and what factors influence their engagement – provides learners with a positive setting they feel comfortable in. These context sensitive, learner centric environments provide the fundamental confidence needed for learners to believe they can succeed in achieving their educational goals (Johnson, 2012).  Therefore, designers need to provide context sensitive learning experiences, performance tasks and assessments that build familiarity, confidence and trust (Kennedy, 2013).  This presentation will describe how Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiārangi has integrated the theories of cognitive load, social cognition, transformative learning and the processes of holistic assessment, the Ranga Framework, personal learning planning and noho delivery into a holistic cultural-self learning design platform. This integration of theory and process provides the foundation for a unique learning design approach, based on the concepts of feedforward, feedback, assessment and reflection, to be established (Clayton et al, 2019).  The presentation will demonstrate how this approach can be applied in a learning management system segmented into seven interwoven but discrete spaces, Welcome / Mihi Whakatau: This space is focused on participants cultural self-enabling them to become familiar and comfortable with the approach to be used. Induction / Rangatahi: During this stage opportunities are provided for learners to clarify and understand these learning outcomes and performance criteria associated with the micro-credential. Engagement / Rangahau: During this stage learning activities are designed to build upon, rather than be independent of, learner’s current knowledge and beliefs. Mātauranga /Performance: During this stage opportunities will be provided for learners to engage in assessment tasks that confirm their capabilities. Rangatira / Capstone: During this stage participants will, with the guidance of tutors and peers, reflect on the outcomes of their learning activities and identify the learning strategies that were successful for them. Arotakenga: Evaluation: During this stage evidence will be collected on the impact of the micro-credential on stakeholders. NB: Participants are encouraged to bring their own devices as they will be provided with editing access to a working demonstrator within a Learning Management System. Background: Following the emergence of the new coronavirus pandemic, e-learning seemed to be the first and best alternative to classroom-based medical education. The Learning Management System (LMS) is a key infrastructure requirement for the provision and progression of e-learning. Objectives: This brief report is about a team-based e-learning method for clinical education in the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A novel e-learning protocol was implemented for the instruction of knowledge-based part of practical operative dentistry course to third- and fourth-year dental students in NAVID LMS, and their satisfaction levels were evaluated. Results: More than 90% of the students mentioned that the method encouraged them to learn new topics and created a joyful learning experience for them. More than 80% reported that the method decreased their anxiety for learning practical topics during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusions: Implementation of such a team-based e-learning method can greatly help in the instruction of clinical topics.

This study aims to determine the effect of project-based learning methods on the development of the interpersonal intelligence of preschool children. Subjects in this study were preschool children especially 4-5 years old. The subject consisted of two kindergartens in Yogyakarta Indonesia, the participants consisted of 31 children. Thus, the data were used as a quasi-experimental research design. The experimental group was taught with a project-based learning method while in the control group with conventional methods. The data collection was an observation sheet. The research data obtained were analyzed using the t-test in the SPSS.16 program to see the differences between the experimental group and the control group. The results showed that there is a significant influence of project-based learning methods toward the interpersonal intelligence of preschool children. The recommendation was provided to parents, academics, practitioners in the discussion that especially emphasized addressing the need to increase opportunities for the interpersonal intelligence of preschool children in good stimulation.

Η παρούσα διδακτορική διατριβή έχει στόχο την παραγωγή και διακίνηση εκπαιδευτικού υλικού και μεθόδων που ενισχύουν την συνεργασία βαθμίδων εκπαίδευσης και την Εκπαίδευση για την Αειφόρο Ανάπτυξη (ΕΑΑ). Η επιλογή διδασκαλίας από απόσταση σύγχρονων θεμάτων Φυσικής στο πλαίσιο της ΕΑΑ και η έρευνα του κατάλληλου πλαισίου από το οποίο μπορεί να επιτευχθεί αυτό είναι ένα από τα αντικείμενα έρευνας. Η εκπαίδευση από απόσταση είναι ένα από τα αντικείμενα μελέτης για πολλούς λόγους που θα αναφερθούν παρακάτω, αλλά ένας από τους κυριότερους είναι ότι καθίσταται ο μοναδικός τρόπος να πετύχουμε δίαυλο επικοινωνίας και άμεση συνεργασία με τις υπόλοιπες βαθμίδες εκπαίδευσης (μαθητές, εκπαιδευτικούς) σε διάφορα γεωγραφικά μέρη. Η παρούσα διατριβή σχεδιάζει και υλοποιεί εκπαιδευτικά πρότυπα που ασχολούνται με διαφορετικά σύγχρονα θέματα επιστήμης και μελετά - αναλύει την αποτελεσματικότητα συνδυασμού συγκεκριμένων μαθησιακών εργαλείων που εξυπηρετούν το κάθε πρότυπο, τα εργαλεία επικοινωνίας και την αλληλεπίδραση των μαθητών και εκπαιδευτικών στα άτυπα αυτά εκπαιδευτικά περιβάλλοντα. Η διατριβή βασίζεται σε τέσσερις βασικούς πυλώνες και αναλύονται με την ακόλουθη σειρά: ένταξη σύγχρονων θεμάτων επιστήμης, σε τυπική και μη μορφή, στο σχολικό πλαίσιο, δημιουργία δράσεων που συμβάλλουν στην Εκπαίδευση για την Αειφόρο Ανάπτυξη και υπηρετούν τους στόχους της Agenda 2030 (agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs), χρήση εξ αποστάσεως εργαλείων και πρακτικών, ένταξη Problem Oriented Project Based Learning μεθόδου υπό το κατάλληλο πλαίσιο στα παραγώμενα διδακτικά πρότυπα Βασιζόμενοι στους πυλώνες αυτούς διερευνάται το κατάλληλο blended e- learning διδακτικό πρότυπο που πρέπει να δημιουργηθεί ώστε να αποσκοπεί στην ΕΑΑ, επιλέγοντας την προβληματοκεντρική διερεύνηση ενός σύγχρονου θέματος για την αειφορία και την βιωσιμότητα και συνδυάζοντας αριθμό συγκεκριμένων εξ αποστάσεως μαθησιακών και επικοινωνιακών εργαλείων. Το πρότυπο αυτό καλείται να είναι αποτέλεσμα ζυμώσεων της συνεργασίας των βαθμίδων εκπαίδευσης και να μπορεί να είναι διαθέσιμο προς όλους και επαναχρησιμοποιήσιμο. Η έρευνά μας καταλήγει στο ότι μπορεί να στηθεί κατάλληλο blended e- learning περιβάλλον με θεματική που να ενισχύει την Εκπαίδευση για την Αειφόρο Ανάπτυξη. Παρουσιάζονται τα κριτήρια επιλογής θεματολογίας που μπορεί να δημιουργήσει και ενιαίο πλαίσιο, μια κοινή δράση, για όλες τις βαθμίδες εκπαίδευσης σε συνεργασία με το πανεπιστήμιο. Η προβληματοκεντρική προσέγγιση στο παραπάνω πλαίσιο και η χρήση της μεθόδου των μαθησιακών αντικείμενων στον σχεδιασμό του e-learning προτύπου, χρησιμοποιώντας συγκεκριμένα προτεινόμενα μαθησιακά εργαλεία , όπως την φιλοξενία όλου του υλικού σε πλατφόρμα τηλεκπαίδευσης (Learning Management System) και η χρήση συγκεκριμένων προσομοιώσεων, εξ αποστάσεως πραγματικών πειραμάτων και πολυμέσων, είχε θετική ανατροφοδότηση από του χρήστες, δίνοντας κίνητρο σε αυτούς .να συμμετέχουν ενεργά καθόλη την διάρκεια της δράσης. Οι εκπαιδευτικοί έκριναν χρήσιμο το πρότυπο και κάποιοι χρησιμοποιούν μέρη του ακόμη και σήμερα.
