Lead-free specimens of [1-z{(Bi1-xLax)0.5(Na1-yLiy)0.5TiO3}-zBaTiO3] (BLNLT-BT, wherex=0.04,y=0.025, andz=0, 0.02, 0.04, and 0.06) ceramic system were synthesized by a semiwet technique. In the present study, we have investigated the effect of Ba on the structure, morphology, and dielectric, ferroelectric, and piezoelectric properties of BLNLT system. The XRD patterns of all the specimens showed rhombohedral structure at room temperature. Field emission scanning electron microscopy images (FE-SEM) showed grain growth inhibition with Ba content in BLNLT system. The temperature dependence of dielectric constant revealed that the temperature of maximum dielectric constant “Tm” and depolarization temperature “Td” decreased for the samplez=0.06and showed high value of dielectric constant with low dielectric loss. These samples exhibited nonlinear behaviour of hysteresis loop. The values of dielectric constant (εr), dissipation factor (tan δ), piezo charge coefficient (d33), remnant polarization (Pr), and coercive field (Ec) for the compositionz=0.06were 1495, 0.06, 20 pC/N, 5 μC/cm2, and 10.5 kV/cm, respectively.

Perovskite-based (1-x) (Na0.5Bi0.5)TiO3-x NaNbO3 [(1-x) NBT-x NN, x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4] ceramics were sintered at 1080°C. Dielectric characteristics, crystalline structures, and Raman investigations were carried out on (1-x) (Na0.5Bi0.5)TiO3-x NaNbO3 ceramics. X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns showed that NaNbO3 ceramic would form a solid solution with (Na0.5Bi0.5)TiO3 ceramic, and and unknown or second phases were not observable as well. NaNbO3 ceramic diffused into the crystalline structure of (Na0.5Bi0.5)TiO3 ceramic and (1-x) NBT-x NN ceramics still revealed a rhombohedral structure. The temperature-dielectric constant curves showed that as NN content increased, the temperature to reveal the maximum dielectric constant (Tm) was raised, the depolarization temperature (Td) was shifted to lower value, and the dielectric constant at Tm and the loss tangent at Td gradually decreased. The Raman bands at 770 and 830 cm-1 were attributed to the existence of the oxygen vacancies. In this study, the relaxor-type ferroelectric properties of NBT ceramic had been improved as NN ceramic was added.

The Bi0.5(Na1-xKx)0.5-yBaTiO3(BNK-BT) lead-free ceramics have been prepared by the solild reactive sintering method. XRD patterns show the BNK-BT ceramics had a perovskite structure. Piezoelectric and dielectric properties of the ceramics also have been studied. The results show that the samples had the best piezoelectric and dielectric properties when x=0.20, y=0.10. And the maximum of d33is 149 pC/N, while the relative dielectric constant is 1087.

The article focuses on the investigation of the properties of alumina-zirconia ceramics possessing high mechanical characteristics and good conductivity at high temperatures. Measurement results of the dielectric dissipation factor, dielectric constant, electric conductivity when using direct and alternating current for the ceramics samples of 80%(ZrO2-3%Y2O3)-20% Al2O3 composition are presented in the paper. Measurements were conducted simultaneously in the electrostatic field in vacuum while heating the samples to the temperatures ranging from 300 to 1700K. Investigations showed that alumina-zirconia ceramics at high temperatures obtains ferroelectric properties not typical of these structures.

Lead-free Ba0.9Ca0.1Sn0.06Ti0.94-xZrxO3 (BCTSZ) ceramics where x = 0.00, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07 and 0.09 were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction method. The dielectric constant of the Zr doped BCTS ceramic was enhanced by Zr incorporation. The maximum dielectric constant were obtained at the composition of x = 0.05. The dielectric property investigation indicated that the degree of the diffuse phase transition behavior increased with Zr substitution. Phase transition of tetragonal to cubic structure was significantly dependent on the amount of Zr added.

The 3 mol% Nb2O5 doped Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 with addition of 1-3 mol% Cr2O3 prepared via the solid-state reaction technique have been investigated. The XRD shows that a sample is primarily in both tetragonal and rhombohedral phases coexist and the amount of rhombohedral phase decreases that is due to the donor (Nb) dopant reduces the number of oxygen vacancies and leads to a lower amount of rhombohedral phase. The maximum dielectric constant tend to decrease with increasing Cr doping concentration from 0.1 to 1 mol%. Further increase in Cr concentration, the maximum dielectric constant increase dramatically. The hysteresis loop measurements, the electrical coercivity and the remnant polarization do not show a systematic trend at low concentration of Cr doping. It is possibly due to the partial solubility of Cr doping. The observations clearly indicate the hardening behavior at higher concentration because of more solubility of Cr.

The fabrication of lead-free (1-x)Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 - xKNbO3 or (1-x)BNT-xKN ceramics where x = 0.00, 0.05, 0.10, and 0.15 was carried out by the modified two-step mixed oxide method. The effects of KNbO3 on structure, piezoelectric and ferroelectric properties were systematically investigated. XRD results revealed that the (1-x)BNT-xKN ceramics with low KN content of x less than 0.05 contained ferroelectric phase with a rhombohedral symmetry while the ceramics with x = 0.05 possessed pseudocubic structure. The higher KN content (x ≥ 0.10) ceramics had symmetries rhombohedral structure. At room temperature, the highest Pr and low Ec were obtained when the composition of x = 0.05. Moreover, the results showed the moderate KN addition could enhance the piezoelectric response. The d33 of 0.95BNT-0.05KN reached as high as 125 pC/N.

The properties of modified Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 (BNT) based lead-free ceramics were investigated. The BNT-based ceramics were prepared by a solid-state mixed oxide method Phase formation was determined by X-ray diffraction technique (XRD). The X-ray diffraction analysis of the ceramics suggested that all samples exhibited a perovskite structure without second phase. The value of dielectric constant increased with increasing in sintering temperature. Moreover, high sintering temperatures could improve ferroelectric properties of BNT base lead-free ceramics.

The heterolayered BT/BNT thick films were fabricated by screen printing techniques on alumina substrates electrodes with Pt . Their structure and ferroelectric properties were investigated with the heterolayered tetragonal/rhombohedral structure composed of the BT and the BNT thick films. The structural and electrical properties of the heterolayered BT/BNT thick films were studied. The dielectric properties such as dielectric constant, loss and remanent polarization of the heterolayered BT/BNT thick films were superior to those of single composition BNT, and those values for the heterolayered BT/BNT thick films were 1455, 0.025 and 12.63 µC/cm2.
