Copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by a thermal method. The CuO nanoparticles were further characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS), and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), respectively. The specific surface area (SSABET) of CuO nanoparticles was determined by nitrogen adsorption. TheSSABETwas found to be 99.67 m2/g (dBETof 9.5 nm). The average diameter of the spherical CuO nanoparticles was approximately 6–9 nm.

The U-phase in the Al72Pd12.8Co15.2alloy was studied under non-equilibrium (casting, differential thermal analysis) and near-equilibrium (long-term annealing) conditions to consider its compositional homogeneity. In the investigation, scanning electron microscopy including energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and differential thermal analysis were used. Contrary to the finding reported for the Al69.8Pd13.8Co16.4alloy, the results obtained for the investigated Al72Pd12.8Co15.2alloy did not confirm the compositional heterogeneity of the near-equilibrium U-phase after annealing at 700°C for 2000 h and at 850°C for 500 h.

Mn2+, Co2+, or Ni2+monodoped CdS (or ZnS) and Mn2+-Co2+-Ni2+tridoped CdS (or ZnS) have been successfully synthesized by novel one-step thermolysis method using thiourea as a sulphur source. The synthesized nanomaterials were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It is found that the average diameter and morphology of the synthesized samples varied with the nature of dopant ion. The successful doping of Mn2+-Co2+-Ni2+tridoped ions into the host CdS (or ZnS) was proved by the EDX spectra. The luminescence of CdS is only enhanced when monodoped with Mn2+whereas it is enhanced when ZnS is either monodoped with Mn2+, Co2+, or Ni2+or tridoped with Mn2+-Co2+-Ni2+. The synthesized samples could therefore offer opportunities for further fundamental research and technological applications.

Synthesis of MoO2nanoparticles with one-dimensional (1D) and spherical morphologies in aqueous solutions, through hydrothermal process was investigated. The materials were studied by x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and thermal analysis (TG). It was found that the quantity of organic compound influenced the size and shape of the final product. The possible formation mechanism of MoO2microspheres and nanowires was also discussed. The conductivity of MoO2nanowires was explained by the presence of two protons types in the material.

Abstract: Boehmite (AlOOH) has been prepared from AlCl3·6H2O and ammonia by a hydrothermal method. The products obtained under different conditions were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results show that the as-prepared AlOOH is stable, transparent, and crystalline, and it is rodlike with an average diameter of about 5 nm and a length of about 100 nm. The reaction temperature and time have important influences on the diameter and uniformity of the products. Besides, it was found that the anti-ultraviolet effect of silk-cotton fabrics was improved significantly after finishing by nano AlOOH solution.

Calcium is an important element in the growth and development of plants and one form of calcium is calcium oxalate. Calcium oxalate has been found in leaf seed, stem material plant tissue culture, fungi and lichen using one or more of the following methods—polarized light microscopy (PLM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and x-ray diffraction.Two methods are presented here for qualitatively estimating calcium oxalate in dried or fixed tobacco (Nicotiana) leaf from different stalk positions using PLM. SEM, coupled with energy dispersive x-ray spectrometry (EDS), and powder x-ray diffraction were used to verify that the crystals observed in the dried leaf with PLM were calcium oxalate.

AbstractThe effect of microstructure of dc magnetron sputtered TiN and TaN diffusion barriers on the palladium activation for autocatalytic electroless copper deposition has been investigated by using X-ray diffraction, sheet resistance measurement, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and plan view transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The density of palladium nuclei on TaN diffusion barrier increases as the grain size of TaN films decreases, which was caused by increasing nitrogen content in TaN films. Plan view TEM results of TiN and TaN diffusiton barriers showed that palladium nuclei formed mainly on the grain boundaries of the diffusion barriers.

Sebuah penelitian tentang sistem dispersi padat dari asiklovir dengan poloxamer 188 telah dilakukan formulasi dengan pencampuran secara fisika dengan rasio 1 : 1, 1 : 3, 1 : 5 dan dispersi padat 1 : 1, 1 : 3, 1 : 5 dan penggilingan 1:1 sebagai pembanding. Dispersi padat dibuat menggunakan metode pencairan (fusi), yang digabung dengan poloxamer 188 pada hotplate kemudian asiklovir dimasukkan ke dalam hasil poloxamer 188 lalu di kocok hingga membentuk masa homogen. Semua formula yang terbentuk termasuk asiklovir poloxamer 188 murni dianalisis karakterisasinya dengan Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), X-ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), dan Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), kemudian pengambilan dilakukan  (penentuan kadar) mengunakan spektrofotometer UV pada panjang gelombang 257,08 nm dan uji laju disolusi dengan aquadest bebas CO2 menggunakan metode dayung. Hasil pengambilan  (penentuan kadar) menunjukkan bahwa semua formula memenuhi persyaratan farmakope Amerika edisi 30 dan farmakope Indonesia edisi 4 yaitu 95-110%. Sedangkan hasil uji laju disolusi untuk campuran fisik 1: 1, dan dispersi padat 1: 1, dan penggilingan 1: 1 menunjukkan peningkatan yang nyata dibandingkan asiklovir murni. Hal ini juga dapat dilihat dari hasil perhitungan statistik  menggunakan analisis varian satu arah  SPSS 17.

BiFeO3 polyhedrons had been successfully synthesized via a hydrothermal method. The as-prepared products were characterized by power X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The possible mechanisms for the formation of BiFeO3 polyhedrons were discussed. Though comparison experiments, it was found that the kind of precursor played a key role on the morphology control of BiFeO3 crystals.

Microstructure of terminal area of Al65Cu32.9Co2.1ingots (numbers indicate at.%), obtained via directional solidification was studied. Scanning Electron Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy and X-ray powder diffraction were applied. Point microanalysis by Scanning Electron Microscope was used for examination of chemical compositions of alloy phases. It was found that tetragonal θ phase of Al2Cu stoichiometric formula was the dominate phase (matrix). Additionally the alloy contained orthogonal set of nanofibres of Al7Cu2Co T phase with the average diameter of 50-500 nm and oval areas of hexagonal Al3(Cu,Co)2H-phase, surrounded by monoclinic AlCu η1phase rim. Inside some areas of H-phase cores of decagonal quasicrystalline D phase were observed.

The aim of this study is to prepare gold nanoparticles by a simple chemical method at a temperature of 70°C. The solution was dried on glass basest by Casting method, the rate of five drops per sample At a temperature 100 C. Then the structural and optical properties have been confirmed by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron microscope (TEM), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and spectrum.
