The main goal of this contribution is to introduce the concept of higher order hesitant fuzzy soft set as an extension of fuzzy soft set that encompasses most of the existing extensions of fuzzy soft set as special cases. Furthermore, this new concept provides us with a method for dealing with multicriteria fuzzy decision making problems which are difficult to explain in other existing extensions of fuzzy soft set theory, especially when problems involve parameters with different-dimensional levels.

In this article, we propose a novel concept of the single-valued neutrosophic fuzzy soft set by combining the single-valued neutrosophic fuzzy set and the soft set. For possible applications, five kinds of operations (e.g., subset, equal, union, intersection, and complement) on single-valued neutrosophic fuzzy soft sets are presented. Then, several theoretical operations of single-valued neutrosophic fuzzy soft sets are given. In addition, the first type for the fuzzy decision-making based on single-valued neutrosophic fuzzy soft set matrix is constructed. Finally, we present the second type by using the AND operation of the single-valued neutrosophic fuzzy soft set for fuzzy decision-making and clarify its applicability with a numerical example.

In this article, we propose a novel concept of the generalized picture fuzzy soft set by combining the picture fuzzy soft set and the fuzzy parameter set. For possible applications, we explain five kinds of operations (e.g., subset, equal, union, intersection, and complement) based on generalized picture fuzzy soft sets. Then, we establish several theoretical operations of generalized picture fuzzy soft sets. In addition, we present the new type by using the AND operation of the generalized picture fuzzy soft set for fuzzy decision-making and clarify its applicability with a numerical example. Finally, we give a comparison between the picture fuzzy soft set theory and the generalized picture fuzzy soft set theory. It is shown that our proposed (i.e., generalized picture fuzzy soft set theory) is viable and provide decision makers a more mathematical insight before making decisions on their options.

The aim of this article is to present the concept of restricted union and extended intersection of belief interval-valued soft sets, along with its properties. In addition, we propose the concept of possibility belief interval-valued soft set theory and investigate their properties. For suitability of possible applications, there are seven kinds of operations (e.g., union, intersection, restricted union, extended intersection, complement, soft max-AND, and soft min-OR) on the possibility belief interval-valued soft sets are defined and their basic theoretical are given. Then, we construct two algorithms by using soft max-AND and soft min-OR operations of possibility interval-valued soft sets for fuzzy decision-making problem. Lastly, we introduce an algorithm using a possibility interval-valued soft set to solve the decision-making problems and clarify its applicability by a numerical example.

In this article I use linguistic fuzzy-set theory to analyze the process of decision making in politics. I first introduce a number of relevant elements of (numerical and linguistic) fuzzy-set theory that are needed to understand the terminology as well as to grasp the scope and depth of the approach. I then explicate a linguistic fuzzy-set approach (LFSA) to the process of decision making under conditions in which the decision makers are required to simultaneously satisfy multiple criteria. The LFSA approach is illustrated through a running (hypothetical) example of a situation in which state leaders need to decide how to combine trust and power to make a choice on security alignment.

The notion of soft set theory was initiated as a general mathematical tool for handling ambiguities. Decision making is viewed as a cognitive-based human activity for selecting the best alternative. In the present time, decision making techniques based on fuzzy soft sets have gained enormous attentions. On this development, this paper proposes a new algorithm for decision making in fuzzy soft set environment by hybridizing some existing techniques. The first novelty is the idea of absolute scores. The second concerns the concept of priority table in group decision making problems. The advantages of our approach herein are stronger power of objects discrimination and a well-determined inference.

Dual hesitant fuzzy geometric Bonferroni mean is defined for dual hesitant fuzzy sets. Different properties of dual hesitant fuzzy geometric Bonferroni mean are discussed. Some special cases are studied in detail for dual hesitant fuzzy geometric Bonferroni mean. In addition, dual hesitant fuzzy weighted geometric Bonferroni mean and dual hesitant fuzzy Choquet geometric Bonferroni mean are proposed. A multicriteria decision-making method is discussed to find the best alternative among different alternatives by using proposed aggregated operators and an illustrated example is also given to understand our proposal.

AbstractFuzzy set theory is a recently developed field of mathematics, that introduces sets of objects whose boundaries are not sharply defined. Whereas in ordinary Boolean algebra an element is either contained or not contained in a given set, in fuzzy set theory the transition between membership and non-membership is gradual. The theory aims at modelizing situations described in vague or imprecise terms, or situations that are too complex or ill-defined to be analysed by conventional methods. This paper aims at presenting the basic concepts of the theory in an insurance framework. First the basic definitions of fuzzy logic are presented, and applied to provide a flexible definition of a “preferred policyholder” in life insurance. Next, fuzzy decision-making procedures are illustrated by a reinsurance application, and the theory of fuzzy numbers is extended to define fuzzy insurance premiums.

Abstract In today’s society, decision making is becoming more important and complicated with increasing and complex data. Decision making by using soft set theory, herein, we firstly report the comparison of soft intervals (SI) as the generalization of interval soft sets (ISS). The results showed that SIs are more effective and more general than the ISSs, for solving decision making problems due to allowing the ranking of parameters. Tabular form of SIs were used to construct a mathematical algorithm to make a decision for problems that involves uncertainties. Since these kinds of problems have huge data, constructing new and effective methods solving these problems and transforming them into the machine learning methods is very important. An important advance of our presented method is being a more general method than the Decision-Making methods based on special situations of soft set theory. The presented method in this study can be used for all of them, while the others can only work in special cases. The structures obtained from the results of soft intervals were subjected to test with examples. The designed algorithm was written in recently used functional programing language C# and applied to the problems that have been published in earlier studies. This is a pioneering study, where this type of mathematical algorithm was converted into a code and applied successfully.
