Erotomania is a rare subtype of delusional disorder, whereby the affected person believes that another individual, usually someone with higher socio-economic status, is in love with them despite having little or no contact. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first published case of same gender erotomania, involving a 28-year-old single lady and a 42-year-old divorcee towards a female psychiatrist. We aimed to share the challenges experienced by the managing psychiatrist as she inopportunely became the theme of her patients’ delusion. We also reviewed and discussed recent literature on erotomania to create awareness among psychiatrists towards this rare psychiatric condition.

We report the case of a patient submitted to a right hemithyroidectomy for a follicular adenoma, when we found a nonrecurrent laryngeal nerve. This is a really rare anatomical presentation that can seriously compromise the integrity and preservation of the inferior laryngeal nerve during thyroid surgery. We describe how we found and managed this anatomical variant and we conduct a review of the most recent Literature about nonrecurrent laryngeal nerve.

In today’s world, education is not being considered as an outcome anymore but a journey. However, as the adventurers, our students are facing more and more complex challenges. Previously, the socio-economic status of a student's family seemed to be one of the biggest factors among inequality causes. However, the chaotic situation of today's VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity) world is generating more and more types of inequity and inequality. Thus, the purpose of the study is to develop LERB - a simple model to classify inequity and inequality, as a stepping-stone to build a gap detection framework in the future. Through a structured literature review, the study found the interconnection between equity and equality, as well as their transition toward student as an individual or as a group(s) and subgroup(s). The study can also be adapted to examine the correlation between different categories of equity, as well as to brainstorm and propose remedies to tackle those gaps.

IntroductionOlfactory reference syndrome (ORS), first described by Pryse-Phillips in 1971, is a rare psychiatric condition whose defining characteristic is a preoccupation with the belief that one emits a foul or offensive body odor, which is not perceived by others. Although the existence of ORS is now widely accepted, current classifications do not explicitly mention ORS as an independent category, but consider it as a delusional disorder, somatic type. Nonetheless, given this syndrome's consistent description along time and cultures, and the associated substancial distress and disability, many authors debate the possibility of a new classification in order to establish its nosological status.Objectives/aimsThe aim of this paper is to show and discuss some troublesome and complex issues of diagnosis and management of patients with ORS.MethodsHerein we report a case of a 38-year-old woman who presented with ORS.Results/conclusionsImprovement in ORS can take place, in some extent, with a variety of different modalities of treatment, with the disorder responding to antidepressants and psychotherapy more frequently than to neuroleptics. Data on ORS are still limited and more research in this field is needed. Awareness of this particular diagnosis allows appropriate treatment to be administered.
