The goal of this project is to write a program in the C++ language that can recognize motions made by a subject in front of a camera. To do this, in the first place, a sequence of distance images has been obtained using a depth camera. Later, these images are processed through a series of blocks into which the program has been divided; each of them will yield a numerical or logical result, which will be used later by the following blocks. The blocks into which the program has been divided are three; the first detects the subject’s hands, the second detects if there has been movement (and therefore a gesture has been made), and the last detects the type of gesture that has been made accomplished. On the other hand, it intends to present to the reader three unique techniques for acquiring 3D images: stereovision, structured light, and flight time, in addition to exposing some of the most used techniques in image processing, such as morphology and segmentation.

This article presents the analysis of the main ideas which are reflected in M. Veller’s novel The Great Last Chance. This is not only a reception of a definite country, a version of her historical way, the demonstration of cultural peculiarities, the own code of civilization, people’s traditions and faith, but also an original author’s view on the process of self-identification and logical result, i.e., the national myths and ideas. The main intention is to negotiate, refute many national myths: about complicated and bloody history; about laziness and hard drinking; about the opposition of East and West; about the peace-loving nation; about the underestimation from the other world. The author asserts that the Russian national idea is not liberal: the main basis is a national self-identification, the main traits are social justice and retribution for guilty. The main problems of the country are located in a definite range: from the global to the local (stealing, corruption, negative information field). The principal way to solve these problems is to aspirate to the social justice, labour, and creative works.

The cabin of an inflight aircraft contains approximately 10% relative humidity (rh). To investigate the impact of this environment on eye comfort, an inflight humidity profile was simulated in a controlled laboratory setting. The experiment was replicated 3 times using a group of 4 subjects (2 males; 2 females) per test. Participants served in both control and experimental roles by wearing a hydrophilic contact lens on one eye and no lens on the other. Subjects provided evaluations of “eye comfort” for both eyes (contact and naked) at specified intervals during the 10 hour test. The results indicated that at 10% rh, there was no significant difference in eye comfort for either wearers or nonwearers of soft contact lenses. However, comfort decreased with the length of exposure (flight time), and for durations of six hours or longer a significant annoyance was reported.

In extrusion of hollow Al-profiles two kinds of pressure welds are present inside the extrusion. One is called the charge weld (CW) and forms across the boundary interface between two billets extruded in sequence. The other is the seam weld (SW) which extends longitudinally along the extruded profile and the extrusion metal behind each die bridge. It is considered to form because of the splitting of the extrusion metal over the die bridge into metal streams which flow past the bridge and rejoin as they encounter behind the bridge. Over the time attempts have been made to explain the mechanics of extrusion welding for both the CW and the SW. Still there is lack of understanding of how these welds form, the main reasons for this is that the deformation conditions around a die bridge are complex and difficult to investigate. Because of the recent advancement of two technological fields, experimental grid pattern analysis and simulation of metal flow by FEA; new tools for analysis of the mechanics of formation of the SW and the CW are now available. The simplest possible case of 2D-extrusion seam welding is considered here and an attempt is made to describe the fundamental deformation mechanisms present when this weld forms behind a butt-ended die bridge.

Abstract Knocking the bobbins is how lace-makers refer to “lacing”. It is an act that, at first sight, does not present any specific technical function, but which, on closer inspection, reveals itself as a fundamental elementary act for elaborating a good lace, since it ensures the firmness of the weave. Through an analysis of the different meanings of this category, the article discusses the relationship between, on the one hand, gesture and rhythm, and, on the other, effects and resulting forms. Each of the senses of knocking the bobbins analysed here are, in turn, tied to different levels of action, since all involve gestures, rhythms, effects and specific forms.

Now a days technology has reduced the gap through systems which can be used to change the sign language used by these people to speech. Sign language recognition (SLR) and gesture-based control are two major applications used for hand gesture recognition technologies. On the other side the controller converts the sign language in to the text and speech which gets converted with the help of text to speech conversion and analog to digital conversion. A Dumb person throughout the world uses sign language for the communication.The best way to present our idea is through speech. Abstract This study investigated the production and perception of Vietnamese tones by Korean second language (L2) learners [n = 11], comparing their performance in an Imitation task to that in Identification and Read-Aloud tasks. The results showed that the Imitation task was generally easier for Korean speakers than the Identification and Read-Aloud tasks, suggesting that imitation was performed without some of the skills required by the other two tasks. The result on tonal F0 range and speakers’ tonal range showed that the Korean leaners have significantly narrower tonal F0 range than control Vietnamese speakers [n = 11]. The results of error pattern analysis and tonal transcription in this study also suggested the effects of phonetic realizations of lexical tones in Vietnamese that are in interaction with language transfer from Korean phonology.
