In this article, a new lifetime model, referred to as modified Frechet–Rayleigh distribution (MFRD), is developed by accommodating an additional parameter in Rayleigh distribution on the basis of the modified Frechet method. Numerous statistical properties of the suggested model are derived and discussed. The technique of maximum likelihood (ML) estimation is adopted to get estimates of the parameters. The suggested model is very flexible and has the capability to model datasets having both monotonic and nonmonotonic failure rates. The proposed model is applied on two real datasets for checking its performance in comparison with available well-known models. The suggested model has shown outclass performance in comparison with the available versions of the Rayleigh distribution used in the literature.

ABSTRACTThis articles introduces a new lifetime model called the generalized transmuted Kumaraswamy distribution which extends the Kumaraswamy distribution from the family proposed by Nofal et al., (2017). We provide hazard and survival functions of the proposed distribution. The statistical properties of the proposed model are provided and the method of Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) was proposed in estimating its parameters.

A one parameter right skewed, upside down bathtub type, heavy-tailed distribution is derived. Various statistical properties and maximum likelihood approaches for estimation purpose are studied. Five different real data sets with four different models are considered to illustrate the suitability of the proposed model.

The statistical properties of radio noise have been investigated by means of a wide-band radio receiving system and techniques similar to those employed in nuclear physics. Measurement of the amplitude probability distribution of broad-band noise at a rural location has shown that it can be represented by a Rayleigh distribution over a much wider dynamic range than is commonly observed. The time distribution of the largest observed noise amplitudes appears to be non-random.

This article proposed a Poisson based continuous probability distribution called Poisson-Rayleigh distribution. Some properties of the new distribution such as quantile and reliability functions and other useful measures were obtained. The model parameters were estimated using the method of maximum likelihood. The usefulness of the new distribution was proven empirically using real life datasets.

In this paper, we introduce a new there-parameter Rayleigh distribution, called the Marshall-Olkin alpha power Rayleigh (MOAPR) distribution. Some statistical properties of the MOAPR distribution are obtained. The proposed model is characterized based on truncated moments and reverse hazard function. The maximum likelihood and bootstrap estimation methods are considered to estimate the MOPAR parameters. A Monte Carlo simulation study is performed to compare the maximum likelihood and bootstrap estimation methods. Superiority of the MOAPR distribution over some well-known distributions is illustrated by means of two real data sets.

In this work, a new extension of the Inverse Rayleigh model is proposed and studied. We derive some of its fundamental properties. We assess the performance of the maximum likelihood estimators via a simulation study. The importance of the new model is shown via two applications to real data sets. The new model is better fit than other important competitive models based on two real data sets.

In this article, a four parameter generalization of the flexible Weibull extension distribution so-called generalized flexible Weibull extension distribution is studied. The proposed model belongs to T-X family of distributions proposed by Alzaatreh et al. [5]. The suggested model is much flexible and accommodates increasing, unimodal and modified unimodal failure rates. A comprehensive expression of the numerical properties and the estimates of the model parameters are obtained using maximum likelihood method. By appropriate choice of parameter values the new model reduces to four sub models. The proposed model is illustrated by means of three real data sets.

AbstractA new generalized class of Lindley distribution is introduced in this paper. This new class is called the T-Lindley{Y} class of distributions, and it is generated by using the quantile functions of uniform, exponential, Weibull, log-logistic, logistic and Cauchy distributions. The statistical properties including the modes, moments and Shannon’s entropy are discussed. Three new generalized Lindley distributions are investigated in more details. For estimating the unknown parameters, the maximum likelihood estimation has been used and a simulation study was carried out. Lastly, the usefulness of this new proposed class in fitting lifetime data is illustrated using four different data sets. In the application section, the strength of members of the T-Lindley{Y} class in modeling both unimodal as well as bimodal data sets is presented. A member of the T-Lindley{Y} class of distributions outperformed other known distributions in modeling unimodal and bimodal lifetime data sets.

For the study of the applications of partial network coding based real-time multicast protocol (PNCRM) in Mobile Ad hoc networks, the researches should be developed in the probability distribution of delay. In this paper, NS2 is used to obtain the delay of data packets through simulations. Because the delay does not obey the strict normal distribution, the maximum likelihood estimate method based on the lognormal distribution is used to process the data. Using MATLAB to obtain the actual distribution of the natural logarithm of delay, then drawing the delay distribution with the maximum likelihood estimation method based on the lognormal distribution, the conclusion that the distributions obtained by the above mentioned methods are basically consistent can be obtained. So the delay distribution of PNCRM meets the lognormal distribution and the characteristic of delay probability distribution can be estimated.
