Managing people and keeping adequate record of the attendance for most of the tertiary institutions are difficult task. Moreover, the manual taking of attendance adds to the difficulty of this task because it is strenuous, time intensive and can easily be falsified. Meanwhile, With the advent of new technology, a new world of authentication and security has been created via biometrics. This work aims at improving Covenant Universities paper-based attendance by using biometrics, specifically fingerprint technology. It is a web application that works with a fingerprint reader from which the features of the student’s fingerprint are extracted during enrolment. This is also needed during the authentication phase which occurs during the roll call attendance in the halls of residence. It is implemented using PHP and MySQL.

Web-based resource management in an enterprise is important because it automates complicated and time-consuming activities directly related to human resource management. Not only does it make the job quicker and simpler for the Human Resource (HR) division but it also eliminates unnecessary manual work and offers an effective way to handle an individual in an organization. This paper is based on a computerized system with advancements primarily related with human resource management to develop a web application deployed over the internet on application server that provides authorized users with access to all information. This framework allows one to use report generation to handle the data with more visualization that ultimately helps in decision making. The system provides various functions such as recruiting employees, managing the payroll, approving leave and measuring biometric hours. It can be classified mainly as Administration Employee Management System (EMS), Timesheet management system (TMS), Leave management system (LMS) and Project management system (PMS). With technology upgrading and the way things are done, the entire organisation's management has become more complex. All organizations opt for a software solution like the proposed system to manage all such key resources, performance, and to assure data privacy and security.

Highlights Digital data collection and management system is developed for the USDA-AMS’s shell-egg grading program. Database system consisting of OLTP, data warehouse and OLAP databases enables online data entry and trend reporting. Data and information management is done through web application servers. Users access the databases via web browsers. Abstract . This paper is concerned with development of web-based online data entry and reporting system, capable of centralized data storage and analytics of egg grading records produced by USDA egg graders. The USDA egg grading records are currently managed in paper form. While there is useful information for data-driven knowledge discovery and decision making, the paper-based egg grading record system has fundamental limitations in effective and timely management of such information. Thus, there has been a demand to electronically and digitally store and manage the egg grading records in a database for data analytics and mining, such that the quality trends of eggs observed at various levels (e.g., nation or state) are readily available to decision makers. In this study, we report the design and implementation of a web-based online data entry and reporting information system (called USDA Egg Grading Information Management System, EGIMS), based on a data warehouse framework. The developed information system consisted of web applications for data entry and reporting, and internal databases for data storage, aggregation, and query processing. The internal databases consisted of online transaction processing (OLTP) database for data entry and retrieval, data warehouse (DW) for centralized data storage and online analytical processing (OLAP) database for multidimensional analytical queries. Thus, the key design goal of the system was to build a system platform that could provide the web-based data entry and reporting capabilities while rapidly updating the OLTP, DW and OLAP databases. The developed system was evaluated by a simulation study with statistically-modeled egg grading records of one hypothetical year. The study found that the EGIMS could handle approximately up to 600 concurrent users, 32 data entries per second and 164 report requests per second, on average. The study demonstrated the feasibility of an enterprise-level data warehouse system for the USDA and a potential to provide data analytics and data mining capabilities such that the queries about historical and current trends can be reported. Once fully implemented and tested in the field, the EGIMS is expected to provide a solution to modernize the egg grading practice of the USDA and produce the useful information for timely decisions and new knowledge discovery. America’s appeal to Utopian visionaries is best illustrated by the Oneida Community, and by Etienne Cabet’s experiment (Moreana 31/215 f and 43/71 f). A Messianic spirit was a determinant in the Puritans’ crossing the Atlantic. The Edenic appeal of the vast lands in a New World to migrants in a crowded Europe is obvious. This article documents the ambition of urbanists to preserve that rural quality after the mushrooming of towns: the largest proved exemplary in bringing the country into the city. New York’s Central Park was emulated by the open spaces on the grounds of the Chicago World’s Fair of 1893. The garden-cities surrounding London also provided inspiration, as did the avenues by which Georges Haussmann made Paris into a tourist mecca, and Pierre L’Enfant’s designs for the nation’s capital. The author concentrates on two growing cities of the twentieth century, Los Angeles and Honolulu. His detailed analysis shows politicians often slow to implement the bold and costly plans of designers whose ambition was to use the new technology in order to vie with the splendor of the natural sites and create the “City Beautiful.” Some titles in the bibliography show the hopes of those dreamers to have been tempered by fears of “supersize” or similar drawbacks.

With the mounting demand of web applications, a number of issues allied to its quality have came in existence. In the meadow of web applications, it is very thorny to develop high quality web applications. A design pattern is a general repeatable solution to a generally stirring problem in software design. It should be noted that design pattern is not a finished product that can be directly transformed into source code. Rather design pattern is a depiction or template that describes how to find solution of a problem that can be used in many different situations. Past research has shown that design patterns greatly improved the execution speed of a software application. Design pattern are classified as creational design patterns, structural design pattern, behavioral design pattern, etc. MVC design pattern is very productive for architecting interactive software systems and web applications. This design pattern is partition-independent, because it is expressed in terms of an interactive application running in a single address space. We will design and analyze an algorithm by using MVC approach to improve the performance of web based application. The objective of our study will be to reduce one of the major object oriented features i.e. coupling between model and view segments of web based application. The implementation for the same will be done in by using .NET framework.

<p>eMap is a web-based platform for identifying and visualizing electron or hole transfer pathways in proteins based on their crystal structures. The underlying model can be viewed as a coarse-grained version of the Pathways model, where each tunneling step between hopping sites represented by electron transfer active (ETA) moieties is described with one effective decay parameter that describes protein-mediated tunneling. ETA moieties include aromatic amino acid residue side chains and aromatic fragments of cofactors that are automatically detected, and, in addition, electron/hole residing sites that can be specified by the users. The software searches for the shortest paths connecting the user-specified electron/hole source to either all surface-exposed ETA residues or to the user-specified target. The identified pathways are ranked based on their length. The pathways are visualized in 2D as a graph, in which each node represents an ETA site, and in 3D using available protein visualization tools. Here, we present the capability and user interface of eMap 1.0, which is available at https://emap.bu.edu.</p>

Among other obligations imposed under the forestry permit, watershed rehabilitation planting is perceived by the upstream oil and gas sector as the most complex challenge to conquer. Despite its poor track in fulfilling timeline and required result, there are also other challenges to consider, for instance lack of critical location, weather, fire, land tenure, community habit and capability, and cost optimization. In attempt to respond these challenges, an innovation in management system is constructed at PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, embracing and tailoring all related challenges, difficulties, and complexities, escalating the activity to be beyond compliance. So that it will be able to deliver more than merely avoid the identified potential risks towards company. The management system, called PIRAMIDA TINGGI (Pemberdayaan Masyarakat untuk Melestarikan Hutan di Dunia demi Ketahanan Energi Nasional), actively involves government, community, and business sector as equilateral triangle that work together to perform watershed rehabilitation planting. Developed using ISO 9001:2015 process approach namely PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act), the PIRAMIDA TINGGI system is in line as well with NAWACITA (President Joko Widodo’s vision, mission and program). To encounter other issue found during field work, this system is equipped as well with another innovation tool named PARIDA, a geospatial mobile-desk top-web application that easily able to map and identify vegetation in real time for further geo-analyzing multi-purposes, to be operated by local community. Full set implementation of this system has benefitted all parties. To Company in form of significant cost efficiency around 13.9 MUSD and 7 days’ faster result delivery besides obligation fulfillment, for others in form of broader advantage of proven sustainability project that has gave contribution to 5P (People, Planet, Prosperity, Partnership and Peace), objectives required by UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

Motivation: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems are an essential part of novel technology in diabetes management and care. CGM studies have become increasingly popular among researchers, healthcare professionals, and people with diabetes due to the large amount of useful information that can be collected using CGM systems. The analysis of the data from these studies for research purposes, however, remains a challenge due to the characteristics and large volume of the data. Results: Currently, there are no publicly available interactive software applications that can perform statistical analyses and visualization of data from CGM studies. With the rapidly increasing popularity of CGM studies, such an application is becoming necessary for anyone who works with these large CGM datasets, in particular for those with little background in programming or statistics. CGMStatsAnalyser is a publicly available, user-friendly, web-based application, which can be used to interactively visualize, summarize, and statistically analyze voluminous and complex CGM datasets together with the subject characteristics with ease.
