In this proposition, a traditional UWB antenna with twofold indent channels was intended for a few remote applications. The exhibited antenna is outlined having estimations of 30 × 35 × 1.6 mm3 with a fix of rectangular staircase design. The dismissal bands are WLAN at 5 GHz (5.1 - 5.8 GHz) and the satellite X-band from space to earth (7.25 - 7.75 GHz). The patch with a step design with a modified π-formed opening gets the ultra-wide band. The UWB scope of 3.1 - 10.6 GHz affirmed by FCC can possibly cause interferences in the various wireless systems applications.. With a specific end goal to lessen these interferences, we settled on the band indent. In this proposed outline, the WLAN has scores setting a U-molded opening in the patch and the X-band has indents with a reversed T-shape in the ground plane.

This study is addressing the slotted ring resonator effect on the performance of the ultra-wide band (UWB) microstrip antenna. Two types of metamaterial with double slotted ring resonators (SRR), circular (C-SRR) and square (S-SRR), are studied and implemented on back of the antenna. The design examines the effect of the number of the SRR and its position with respect to the antenna’s ground plane and the rotation of the inner and outer C-SRR rings on different antenna characteristics. The dimensions of the antenna are 45 mm × 31 mm × 1.27 mm. The implementation of the SRR increased the antenna bandwidth to cover the range from 2.2 GHz to 9.8 GHz with rejected bands and frequencies. Antenna simulated characteristics like return loss, maximum gain and radiation pattern are obtained utilizing HFSS. The return loss measurement and the VSWR of the antenna with all SRR configuration studied are in good agreement with simulated results.

AbstractIn this paper, a novel bird face microstrip printed monopole ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna is investigated. The proposed compact antenna consists of a ring-shaped with additional slot and slotted ground plane on FR4 material. The overall electrical dimension of the proposed antenna is 0.25 λ×0.36 λ×0.016 λ and is energized by microstrip feed line. The Computer Simulation Technology (CST) and the High Frequency Structural Simulator (HFSS) is applied in this analysis. The impedance bandwidth of the monopole antenna cover 3.1–12.3 GHz (9.2 GHz, BW) frequency range. The messurement displayed that the designed antenna achieved excellent gain and stable omnidirectional radiation patterns within the UWB. The maximum gain of 6.8 dBi and omnidirectional radiation pattern makes the proposed antenna that is suitable for UWB systems.

A reconfigurable asymmetric patch antenna with arced corners loaded with a rectangular slot and a T slot on the partial ground used for UWB and Ku band applications. The discussion is carried out into three segments. In the first segment, the design of patch antenna proposed asymmetric arcs at the corner, two side slits, and one slot in the middle of the patch while a T-slot integrated on the partial ground plane. This presented antenna covers an impedance bandwidth ranging from 3.0 GHz to 16.2GHz with a fractional amount of 132%. It is found that a wide band of 3.0 GHz to 10.7 GHz is achieved by using a T-slot on the partial ground plane with a normal rectangular patch while 10.8 GHz to 16.2 GHz is attained by using two corners arcs with two small slits on the patch. The experimental result shows good agreement of 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth and radiation characteristics with the simulated result of the proposed antenna. The second segment proposes an extracted equivalent circuit model for patch and ground plane of corner arc monopole antenna using EM software package in the ADS platform and made a good agreement with the proposed antenna. Finally in the third segment RF PIN diode is embedded in a rectangular slot of the patch which achieves desired frequency shifting in the required band of operation.

This paper presents a novel resonator that can switch and create three important behaviors within the same antenna using miniaturized capacitors. The resonator was integrated into conventional Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) antenna to achieve UWB and Single/Dual continuously tunable-notch behaviors. The Single/Dual notched was continuously tuned to our desired frequency band by changing the value of the capacitors. The antenna designed and fabricated to validate these behaviors had a compact size of 24 × 30.5 mm2, including the ground plane. The radiation patterns were very clean due to the placement of the proposed resonator in the special ground plane. Moreover, the presented novel resonator and switching technique was compared with the recently proposed resonators and their switching techniques. The prototype for the antenna was also developed in order to validate its performance in wireless vital signs monitoring. The presented miniaturized resonator based antenna was utilized for tumor sensing and simulations were provided in this regard. Moreover, the deployment of the proposed resonator based UWB antenna sensor in Pipeline Integrity Monitoring system was also investigated and discussed.

The lower band and mid band ‘5G’ are known to use the frequencies in the range of 600 MHz – 6 GHz worldwide, especially 3.5GHz to 4.2GHz. A new modified multi slot compact planar ultra-wideband Microstrip patch antenna with a split ground plane has been proposed in this paper. The size of the antenna occupies volume of 34x30x1.7 (1734 mm^3) which has been designed on a FR4 epoxy substrate with dielectric constant of 4.4. In order to provide dual wideband characteristics, a ‘T and G ’shaped slots with split ground plane using line feeding structure has been used. The effects on the return losses v/s frequency for the antenna using different substrates with varying dielectric constants for the same dimensions has been studied in this paper. The proposed antenna operates in dual band with first band being a narrow band ranging from 1.92GHz to 2.06GHz and the second band is an ultra-wide band which ranges from 3.40 GHz to 9.6 GHz. The split ground plane and slot size variations in the T and G slot geometry helps in retrieving the dual bands. The proposed antenna is covering applications from LTE band No 40, UMTS IMT-2000, Wimax (3.5/5.55GHz), ISM WLAN 5.2/5.8GHz and RFID etc. The direct line feeding method which uses a 50Ω line with width of W=3mm has been used for the micro-strip line. With split ground plane, coupling between the slots plays role for achieving the good bandwidth. The analysis of return loss (dB), bandwidth, VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) of patch antenna with different substrates and variation of the sizes of slots in shapes has been performed using HFSS tool [12] and results has been studied in this paper.
