Impact of Leadership Style on Organizational Performance: A Case Study of Nigerian Banks

The study examined the impact of leadership style on organizational performance in selected Banks, in Ibadan Nigeria. Purposive sampling technique was adopted in selecting a total of sixty (60) respondents as sample for the study, while relevant data was gathered with the aid of a structured questionnaire. One hypothesis was formulated and inferential statistical tool was used to analyze the data specifically Pearson product moment correlation was used to examine the relationship between leadership style dimensions and organizational performance, while Regression analysis was used to examine the significant effect of leadership style dimensions on followers and performance. Findings showed positive and negative correlation between leadership style dimensions and organizational performance. It was also found that leadership style dimensions jointly predict organizational performance, which counted for 23% variance of performance. The study concluded that transformational and democratic leadership style should be employed by the Banks’ management in order to wax stronger in a global competitive environment.

This study aims to show the influence of the three types of leadership style: Autocratic, Democratic and Laissez-Faire on an organization's success and the study was conducted through a field survey of 60 respondents from different popular restaurants of Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The researchers designed and administered a well designed structured questionnaire in a combination that includes both open and close to collect data. After collecting data from the field, the researchers carry out a comprehensive statistical analysis to analyze the research objectives. However; the study finds that the driving factors that have a major impact on organizational performance are Advice, Decision Making, Involvement, Consultation, and Shared and the democratic leadership style has a strong affirmative impact on the organizational performance. The factors: Leadership barriers, Expression of views, Communication, Stay out of the way, Freedom, Rewards or Punishment, Policies, Refusal to explain and Order and Procedures are not available in the results of the organizations. The study also finds that the factors of autocratic leadership have a significant negative impact on the organizational and the style of laissez-faire management does not affect the organization's outcomes.

Resilience is a vibrant process of adaptation which enables entrepreneurs to constantly direct a futuristic aspiration despite the volatile conditions of a market. The study examined entrepreneurial resilience on the performance of small and medium enterprises organization in Asaba, Delta State. The cross-sectional research survey research design method was employed. The study adopted the stratified random sampling technique. The sample size used was limited to 201 respondents. A structured questionnaire was the research instrument employed in the study. Descriptive statistics as well as multiple regression analysis was used to analyse the data collected. Findings showed overwhelmingly that resourcefulness, strategic diversity and pro-activeness has a substantial positive relationship with organizational performance. The study concluded that entrepreneurial resilience has a positive effect on organizational performance. The study result showed that resourcefulness has the highest affirmative effect on organizational performance. Thus, the study recommended that if enterprises understand the nature of the association amid the dimensions of entrepreneurial resilience, the failure rate of small and medium enterprises can be reduced.

Online learning has been an area of tremendous growth in recent years [1], further accelerated by necessity during the coronavirus pandemic [2]. Without the feedback provided by synchronous sessions, however, instructors may lack ongoing insight into students’ progress and performance in fully asynchronous online offerings. Providing greater visibility into students’ online learning behavior has several potential benefits: 1) teachers who seek to provide live sessions that depend on knowledge from asynchronous resources will have a better gauge of students’ preparation; 2) enhanced understanding of the relationship between student pacing and performance can help teachers and researchers characterize the impact of timely engagement with online course material; 3) providing a means of monitoring the effect of changes in course structure or incentives may guide course designers/planners in continuous improvement; and 4) visualizations that illustrate the relationship between students’ course progress and performance have the promise of allowing teachers to take steps early to positively affect students’ outcomes. In this visual case study, visualizations are provided for exploration of the relationship between student progress and performance in an online medicine-related course.

Introduction: The success of an organization is determined by its human ‎resources. Work engagement leads to higher productivity and performance of the organization. Leaders seek to understand the impact of ‎their leadership style on work engagement. This is even more important in educational organizations but research in this area is insufficient. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between department ‎manager’s leadership styles and faculty member’s work engagement in some Iranian universities of medical ‎sciences‎. Methods: This was a descriptive-analytical correlational study. 149 people including faculty members and department managers with at least 6 months of work experience were selected through the convenience sampling method. Data collection tools included ‎a demographic questionnaire, a multi-factor leadership questionnaire, and a Schaufeli & Bakker work engagement questionnaire whose validity and reliability were examined. ‎Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16. Result: A total of 114 faculty members with 13.42 ± 9.75 and 35 department managers with 19.91 ± 8.67 work experience participated in this study. Faculty members reported high work engagement. There was a positive and significant relationship between work engagement and interactional (P = 0.010) and transformational leadership (P = 0.001). ‎There was a significant difference between manager’s and employee’s views on the interactional ‎and transformational leadership (P < 0.001). Conclusion: Managers can promote job engagement by selecting the proper leadership style, and the advantages can be leveraged to boost organizational productivity.

The objective of this article is to evaluate the impact of Transformational Leadership on Organizational Innovation, Supply chain Integration and Organizational Performance. Research was carried out on 562 Vietnamese textile and garment enterprises. We use Smart PLS 3.6 software for data analysis. The results show that Transformational Leadership had a positive impact on Organizational Innovation, Supply chain Integration and Organizational Performance. In addition, the Supply chain Integration plays a role as a complete mediate in the relationship between Organizational Innovation and Organizational Performance. Size has a statistically significant moderate role on the relationship between Organizational Innovation and Organizational Performance. Finally, the leader qualification has a statistically significant moderate role in the relationship between Transformational Leadership and Organizational Performance. From the above results, we recommend the leaders of Vietnamese textile and garment enterprises to improve leadership capacity, apply a transformational leadership style to improve organizational performance.

Traditionally, Nursing students study human bioscience e.g. pathophysiology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology in their first and second year course. Nursing students are facing difficulties with bioscience learning. Hence, it’s essential for nursing students to keep in mind that bioscience understanding  is very important throughout the research, and clinical practice. The PURPOSE of this study was to assess BSN students’ experiences regarding bioscience subject’s background and nursing education. A cross-sectional analytic study was done among 183 BSN (Generic) students February 2018 to May 2018. Convenient sampling technique was used to collect the required sample size. Data on individual characteristics of Bioscience learning experiences was collected by distributing semi-structured questionnaire. Statistical tool SPSS 21.0 was used for the analysis of collected data. Person correlation test used to determine the relationship between variables. In this study majority of BSN (Generic) students were considered bioscience subjects more challenging and time consuming. About 45.36% participants were agreed with there is more content required for bioscience compared with nursing subjects. BSN students (59.56%) were reported that bioscience related to nursing practice to gain better understanding for assessment. Majority of participants were reported that bioscience subjects more difficult as compared to nursing subjects. Bioscience relationship with nursing practices significantly correlated with clinical-relevant employment. In this type of research the area of improvement have been reviewed further knowledge available for those who will conduct the research on this topic in future.Int. J. Soc. Sc. Manage. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to study the possible mediating mechanisms (human resource management (HRM), learning and innovation) that could exist in the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational performance. This topic has been studied only by a few groups of researchers and these researchers have not analyzed all these concepts jointly. Design/methodology/approach This research explores the relationships using partial least squares with data from 200 Spanish industrial companies. Analyzing the mentioned relationships in the Spanish context has been done by few researchers before. Findings The study reveals that the adoption of transformational leadership styles improves performance when specific systems of HRM practices, learning and innovation are developed in an organization. Originality/value This study, therefore, contributes to the understanding of the link between transformational leaders and performance by proposing a model in which it is evinced that this leadership style produces synergies between HRM, learning and innovation, which in the end, affect performance.

Not achieving the Key Performance Index (KPI) target within 5 consecutive years can be used as an indicator of the lack of maximum management in the company in facing competition. In-depth considerations are needed to answer the problems that occur related to this performance decline. Referring to several studies conducted related to motivation and performance, it is known that many variables can affect performance. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the influence of transformational, democratic and situational leadership styles on employee performance at PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero), Tbk Sharia Medan Branch Office. The population in this study were all employees who worked at PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero), Tbk Sharia Medan Branch Office. Many samples in this study were as many as 50 respondents. Data were collected using observations and questionnaires. The data is tested using validity and reliability tests, and the data must meet the elements of the classical assumption test. Furthermore, the data analysis test was carried out using multiple regression analysis; t test, F test, and the coefficient of determination.The results of this study indicate that there is a significant influence on the transformational, democratic and situational leadership style either partially or simultaneously. The amount of Transformational Leadership, Democratic Leadership and Situational Leadership explains that employee performance is 0.689 or equal to 68.90% while the remaining 31.10% is explained by other variables. This study looks into the impact of the principal's democratic leadership style on teacher performance in junior high schools in Palopo City's Bara District. This study uses a quantitative approach with the type of research is ex-post facto. The population is all junior high school teachers in the Bara sub-district of Palopo city, totaling 134 people. Sampling was done by simple random sampling technique. The sample used was 39 teachers—data obtained through questionnaires and documentation. Furthermore, the research data were analyzed statistically using data processing, namely: Descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. This study found that the democratic leadership style displayed by the principal has a strong influence and significance on the performance of teachers in SMP/MTs in Bara District, Palopo City. This is because the leadership style displayed by the principal through several indicators can provide a significant enough stimulant to the teacher so that teachers' work motivation can increase adequately, which impacts the achievement of educational and learning goals in schools. This study implies the importance of the leadership style displayed by the principal in building teacher motivation and commitment in schools to generate optimal teacher performance in schools.
